On the main screen there is only an area for adding files and a menu for selecting a result. The possibility of mass conversion is provided. To do this, you need to select the directory with the necessary files and the destination directory.

FB2 is a popular format for storing e-books. Applications for viewing such documents, for the most part, are cross-platform, available on both desktop and mobile operating systems. Actually, the demand for this format is dictated by the abundance of programs intended not only for viewing it (more details below).

The FB2 format is extremely convenient to read, both on a large computer screen and on the much smaller displays of smartphones or tablets. And yet, sometimes users need to convert an FB2 file into a Microsoft Word document, be it the legacy DOC or the DOCX that replaced it. We will tell you how to do this in this article.

As it turns out, finding a suitable program for converting FB2 to Word is not so easy. There are quite a lot of them, but most of them are either simply useless or even unsafe. And if some converters simply cannot cope with the task, others will also pollute your computer or laptop with a bunch of unnecessary software from a well-known domestic corporation, so eager to hook everyone on its services.

Since everything is not so simple with converter programs, it would be much better to bypass this method altogether, especially since it is not the only one. If you know a good program that can be used to convert FB2 to DOC or DOCX, write about it in the comments.

Using online resources for conversion

On the endless expanses of the Internet there are quite a lot of resources with which you can convert one format to another. Some of them allow you to convert FB2 to Word. So that you don’t have to search for a suitable site for a long time, we found it, or rather they, for you. All you have to do is choose the one that you like best.

Let's look at the online conversion process using the Convertio resource as an example.

1. Upload a document in FB2 format to the website. To do this, this online converter offers several methods:

  • Specify the path to the folder on your computer;
  • Upload a file from Dropbox or Google Drive cloud storage;
  • Provide a link to the document on the Internet.

Note: If you are not registered on this site, the maximum file size that can be uploaded cannot exceed 100 MB. Actually, in most cases this will be enough.

2. Make sure that FB2 is selected in the first window with the format; in the second, select the appropriate format for the Word text document that you want to receive in the end. This could be DOC or DOCX.

3. Now you can convert the file, just click on the red virtual button "Convert".

4. Download the converted file to your computer by clicking the green button "Download", or save it to cloud storage.

Now you can open the saved file in Microsoft Word, however, all the text will most likely be written together. Therefore, you will need to adjust the formatting. For greater convenience, we recommend placing two windows next to each other on the screen—an FB2 reader and a Word one—and then begin dividing the text into fragments, paragraphs, etc. Our instructions will help you cope with this task.

Some tricks for working with the FB2 format

The FB2 format is a kind of XML document that has much in common with common HTML. The latter, by the way, can be opened not only in a browser or a specialized editor, but also in Microsoft Word. Knowing this, you can quite easily convert FB2 to Word.

1. Open the folder with the FB2 document that you want to convert.

2. Left-click on it once and rename it, or rather, change the specified format from FB2 to HTML. Confirm your intentions by clicking "Yes" in a pop-up window.

Note: If you cannot change the file extension and can only rename it, follow these steps:

3. Now open the renamed HTML document. It will be displayed in a browser tab.

4. Highlight page content by clicking "CTRL+A", and copy it using the keys "CTRL+C".

Note: Some browsers do not copy text from such pages. If you encounter a similar problem, simply open the HTML file in another web browser.

5. The entire contents of the FB2 document, more precisely, the HTML, is now on the clipboard, from where you can (even need) paste it into Word.

Launch MS Word and click "CTRL+V" to paste copied text.

Unlike the previous method (online converter), converting FB2 to HTML and then inserting it into Word preserves the text breakdown into paragraphs. And yet, if necessary, you can always change the text formatting manually, making the text more readable.

Opening FB2 in Word directly

The methods described above have certain disadvantages:

  • text formatting may change during conversion;
  • images, tables, and other graphic data that may be contained in such a file will be lost;
  • Tags may appear in the converted file, fortunately, they are easy to remove.

Opening FB2 in Word directly is not without its drawbacks, but this method is in fact the simplest and most convenient.

1. Open Microsoft Word and select the command in it "Open other documents"(if the latest files you worked with are shown, which is relevant for the latest versions of the program) or go to the menu "File" and press "Open" there.

2. In the Explorer window that opens, select "All files" and specify the path to the document in FB2 format. Click on it and click open.

3. The file will open in a new window in Protected View. If you need to change it, click the button "Allow editing".

You can learn more about what Protected View mode is and how to disable the limited functionality of a document in our article.

Note: XML elements included in the FB2 file will be removed

Thus, we opened an FB2 document in Word. All that remains is to work on the formatting and, if necessary (most likely yes), remove tags from it. To do this, press the keys "CTRL+ALT+X".

1. Go to menu "File" and select a team "Save as".

2. In the drop-down menu located under the line with the file name, select the DOCX extension. If necessary, you can also rename the document.

3. Specify the path to save and click "Save".

That's all, now you know how you can convert an FB2 file into a Word document. Choose the method that is convenient for you. By the way, reverse conversion is also possible, that is, a DOC or DOCX document can be converted to FB2. How to do this is described in our material.

For you, as a fan of reading e-books, there are many formats that are designed specifically for reading on mobile devices that should be familiar. Perhaps you have also heard about the FB2 format? FB2 is a book representation format in XML format and created in Russia. In this format, each element is described by its own tags. What makes this format convenient for many users is that it is supported by many mobile platforms, which means it can be used to read books on these platforms. It is good because it consists of tags and can be drawn in accordance with the rendering of this format on different devices. The format also contains descriptive text formatting tags such as bold, font size, underlining, etc.

In some situations, users need to convert text from FB2 workbooks to TXT format. Let's see in what ways this can be done.

We can immediately distinguish two main groups of methods for converting FB2 to TXT. The first of them is carried out using online service ov, and to apply the second, software that is installed on the computer is used. It is the second group of methods that we will consider in this article. The most correct conversion in this direction is carried out by special converter programs, but this procedure can also be performed using some text editors and readers. Let's look at the algorithms for performing this task using specific applications.

Method 1: Notepad++

First of all, let's see how you can convert in the direction you are studying using one of the most powerful text editors Notepad++.

  1. Launch Notepad++. Click on the icon in the folder image on the toolbar.

    If you are more accustomed to actions using the menu, then use navigation "File" And "Open". Application Ctrl+O will do too.

  2. The object selection window opens. Find the directory where the source FB2 workbook is located, select it and click "Open".
  3. The text content of the book, including tags, will appear in the Notepad++ shell.
  4. But in most cases, the tags in the TXT file are of no use, so it would be a good idea to remove them. Erasing them manually is quite tedious, but in Notepad++ the whole thing can be automated. If you do not want to delete tags, then you can skip all further steps aimed at this and go straight to the procedure for saving the object. Those users who want to delete must click "Search" and select from the list "Replacement" or apply "Ctrl+H".
  5. A search window opens in the tab "Replacement". In field "Find" enter the expression as in the image below. Field "Replaced by" leave blank. To make sure that it is really empty and not occupied, for example, by spaces, place the cursor in it and press the Backspace button on the keyboard until the cursor reaches the left border of the field. In the block "Search Mode" be sure to set the radio button to position “Regular. expressed.". After that you can press "Replace All".
  6. After you close the search window, you will see that all the tags that were in the text were found and deleted.
  7. Now it's time to convert to TXT format. Click "File" and choose "Save as…" or use a combination Ctrl+Alt+S.
  8. The save window opens. Open the folder where you want to place the finished text material with the TXT extension. In area "File type" select from the drop-down list "Normal text file (*.txt)". If you wish, you can also change the name of the document in the area "File name", but this is not necessary. Then click "Save".
  9. Now the content will be saved in TXT format and will be located in the area of the file system that the user himself assigned in the save window.

Method 2: AlReader

Not only text editors, but also some readers, for example AlReader, can reformat an FB2 book to TXT.

  1. Launch AlReader. Click "File" and select "Open file".

    You can also right-click ( RMB) in the internal area of the reader shell and select from the context menu "Open file".

  2. Each of these actions initiates the activation of the opening window. Find in it the directory where the source FB2 is located and mark this e-book. Then click "Open".
  3. The contents of the object will be displayed in the reader shell.
  4. Now you should perform the reformatting procedure. Click "File" and select "Save as TXT".

    Or use an alternative action, which consists of clicking on any internal area of the program interface RMB. Then you need to go through the menu items sequentially "File" And "Save as TXT".

  5. Compact window activated "Save as TXT". In the area, you can select one of the types of outgoing text encoding from the drop-down list: UTF-8 (by default) or Win-1251. To start the conversion, click "Apply".
  6. After this a message will appear "File converted!", which means the object was successfully converted to the selected format. It will be placed in the same folder as the source.

A significant disadvantage of this method compared to the previous one is that the AlReader reader does not allow the user to choose the location of the converted document, since it saves it in the same place where the source is located. But, unlike Notepad++, in AlReader you don’t need to bother with deleting tags, since the application performs this action completely automatically.

Method 3: AVS Document Converter

Many document converters, including AVS Document Converter, cope with the task posed in this article.

  1. Open the program. First of all, you should add the source. Click on "Add files" in the center of the converter interface.

    You can click on the button of the same name on the toolbar.

    For those users who are accustomed to always accessing the menu, there is also an option to launch the add window. You need to click on the items "File" And "Add files".

    Those for whom the control of hot keys is closer have the opportunity to use Ctrl+O.

  2. Each of the above actions launches the add document window. Find the directory where the FB2 book is located and select this element. Click "Open".

    However, you can add the source without launching the opening window. To do this, drag the FB2 book from "Conductor" to the graphic boundaries of the converter.

  3. The contents of FB2 will appear in the AVS preview area. Now you should specify the final conversion format. To do this, in the group of buttons "Output Format" click "In TXT".
  4. You can make minor transformation settings by clicking on the blocks "Format Options", "Convert" And "Extract Images". This will open the corresponding settings fields. In the block "Format Options" You can select one of three encoding options for the output TXT text from the drop-down list:
    • UTF-8;
    • ANSI;
    • Unicode.
  5. In the block "Rename" you can choose one of three options in the list "Profile":
    • Original name;
    • Text+Counter;
    • Counter+Text.

    In the first option, the name of the resulting object remains the same as that of the source. In the last two cases, the field becomes active "Text", where you can enter the desired name. Operator "Counter" means that if the file names match or if you apply group conversion, then to the one specified in the field "Text" the name will have a number added before or after the name, depending on which option was selected in the field "Profile": "Text+Counter" or "Counter+Text".

  6. In the block "Extract Images" it is possible to extract pictures from the source FB2, since the outgoing TXT does not support displaying pictures. In field "Destination folder" you should specify the directory in which these pictures will be placed. Then click "Extract Images".
  7. By default, the output is saved in the directory "My Documents" current user profile, which you can see in the area "Output folder". If you need to change the directory where the final TXT is located, then click "Review…".
  8. Activated "Browse folders". In the shell of this tool, go to the directory where you want to store the converted material and click "OK".
  9. Now the address of the selected area will appear in the interface element "Output folder". Everything is ready for reformatting, so click "Start!".
  10. The procedure for reformatting the FB2 e-book into TXT text format is in progress. The dynamics of this process can be monitored using data that is displayed as a percentage.
  11. After completing the procedure, a window will appear telling you that the conversion was successful, and you will also be asked to move to the storage directory of the resulting TXT. To do this, click "Rev. folder".
  12. Will open "Conductor" in the folder where the resulting text object is placed, with which you can now perform any manipulations available for the TXT format. You can view it using special programs, edit, move and perform other actions.

The advantage of this method over the previous ones is that the converter, unlike text editors and readers, allows you to process a whole group of objects simultaneously, thereby saving a significant amount of time. The main disadvantage is that the AVS application is paid.

Method 4: Notepad

If all previous methods for solving the problem involved installing special software, then when working with the built-in text editor of Windows Notepad, this is not required.

  1. Open Notepad. In the majority Windows versions this can be done via the button "Start" in folder "Standard". Click "File" and choose "Open…". It is also suitable to use Ctrl+O.
  2. The opening window opens. It is necessary to see the FB2 object, in the field for specifying the type of formats from the list, select "All files" instead of "Text documents". Find the directory where the source is located. After selecting it from the drop-down list in the field "Encoding" select an option "UTF-8". If, after opening an object, “crazy language” is displayed, then try opening it again, changing the encoding to any other, performing similar manipulations until the text content is displayed correctly. After the file is selected and the encoding is specified, click "Open".
  3. The contents of FB2 will open in Notepad. Unfortunately, this text editor does not work with regular expressions the way Notepad++ does. Therefore, when working in Notepad, you will either have to accept the presence of tags in the outgoing TXT, or you will have to delete them all manually.
  4. Once you have decided what to do with the tags and have performed the appropriate manipulations or left everything as is, you can proceed to the saving procedure. Click "File". Next, select the item "Save as…".
  5. The save window is activated. Use it to navigate to the file system directory where you want to place the TXT. Actually, without additional need, no further adjustments can be made in this window, since the type of the saved file in Notepad will in any case be TXT for the reason that this program cannot save documents in any other format without additional manipulations. But if desired, the user has the opportunity to change the name of the object in the area "File name", and also select the text encoding in the area "Encoding" from the list with the following options:
    • UTF-8;
    • ANSI;
    • Unicode;
    • Unicode Big Endian.

    After all the settings that you consider necessary to perform have been made, click "Save".

  6. The text object with the TXT extension will be saved in the directory specified in the previous window, where you can find it for further manipulation.

    The only advantage of this conversion method over the previous ones is that to use it you do not need to install additional software; you can only use the system tools. In almost all other aspects, manipulations in Notepad are inferior to the programs described above, since this text editor does not allow mass conversion of objects and does not solve the problem with tags.

We examined in detail the actions in individual instances of various groups of programs that can convert FB2 to TXT. For group conversion of objects, only special converter programs like AVS Document Converter are suitable. But given the fact that most of them are paid, for a single conversion in the above direction, separate readers (AlReader, etc.) or advanced text editors like Notepad++ are quite suitable. In the case when the user still does not want to install additional software, but the quality of the output does not bother him much, then the task can be solved even using the built-in Windows OS program - Notepad.

You have a document or book in DOS format, but you can’t or don’t want to read the contents - it’s much more convenient for you in fb2. This means that it needs to be transformed - converted.

Below I will describe the two best (it seems to me) ways to convert doc to fb2. DOS is a Microsoft 2003 format. In 2007, 2010 and 2013, docx began to be used.

You can convert it to fb2 using programs or using online servers. In the latter case, there must always be Internet access; in the former, only the installed program.

In general, it is not necessary to unnecessarily convert a doc format to another (in our case, fb2), even if you do not have the Microsoft Word program (it is paid).

You can use free analogs for reading: OpenOffice, Cool Reader or Doc Reader (there are more), but this article is about converting it to fb2, so let’s move on to the direct conversion

How to convert doc to fb2 using programs

There are several programs for converting documents (books) in doc format to fb2. My favorite was "htmlDocs2fb2".

First, download it - it is free and has Russian language (easy to find on your own). The installation is normal. After launch, turn on the Russian language.

To do this, click the last option “common settings” at the top and select “Russisn” as shown below.

Next, close the program and run it again. Click the file at the top (place your dos document on the desktop ahead of time so as not to search for a long time), click “open”, find your file (which needs to be converted to another format), select it and click “open” at the bottom.

Your file in dos format will appear in the program window. To convert, click on the top of the file again and click on the convert option.

The program converts it. You just need to click “OK”. That's all. Now the book in fb2 format is on your desktop, you can start reading

Convert doc to fb2 online

You can also convert dos to fb2 formats using online services. It's not faster or better, but you don't need to install programs, and not all devices support them, for example, Android tablets.

Http://ebook.online-convert.com/ru/convert-to-fb2

You don't need to do anything else. The system will automatically convert it to fb2 format and start the download without your confirmation.

That's all. If it is possible to install a conversion program and you often have to convert, then this option will be the best.

For a “one-time” conversion, an online service is quite suitable. Good luck.
