One box is normal in height, and the second one is lower, and there is no thermos with hot tea, without which there is no way to winter fishing, which means you need to increase the height. To do this, I made two intermediate layers from the same plywood with a hole for the thermos lid and the rest of the space for the glove compartment. I fixed the glove compartment lid on a mini-hinge and screwed on the handle - a ring from an old door key, drilled a hole for the bolt from the side of the thermos, they served as a L-shaped hexagon. On top of the cover, I placed several layers of foam (foam rubber) and covered it with Carpet (automotive fabric for acoustic shelves, also lay since the time of the king of peas), secured the fabric with a furniture stapler. Attach the cover to the base. The box is almost ready.

The use of such a fishing box on a pond revealed one, but a significant drawback - it simply turned out to be too heavy. After talking with familiar fishermen, I realized for myself that the best option would be a homemade box from the freezer from the old refrigerator.

I have seen such boxes on the reservoir at the fishermen more than once, and I can imagine how they look. Therefore, I decided that this idea and manufacturing technology was the most acceptable option for me. So, how to make a convenient and lightweight box.

It is possible to make a fishing box with your own hands from the body of an already inoperative freezer. Such a solution is quite simple in terms of manufacturing and economical - from the position of investing money. Such a device allows you to realize several goals at once - it is possible to put gear in a fishing box made from a freezer, and use it as a seat during winter fishing, without spending money on expensive factory products.

You need to go on winter fishing well prepared, this will not only save face in front of your “colleagues”, other anglers, but also provide comfort during direct fishing. To increase convenience, a special device is required - a fishing or fishing box. Such a thing facilitates the process of storing ammunition. But, factory models are quite expensive and the best option is a homemade box, especially since making it from a freezer is quite simple.

How to do it yourself

It is much more economical and simple enough to make a decent fishing box with your own hands. It will be convenient to store gear in it, and its mass will be small. Such a homemade product, in addition to spaciousness and lightness, also has a sufficiently high strength, which allows it to be used as a high chair.

Necessary materials

To assemble a homemade fishing box, you will need the following tools and materials:

• hammer or mallet;
• a sheet of plywood according to the size of the freezer;
• freezer from a Soviet refrigerator;
• a pair of aluminum sheets according to the size of the freezer;
• pencil or marker - for marking;
• drill and drill 3 mm;
• canopies - 2 pieces;
• rubber glue;
• leather belt or car seat belt;
• strong thread;
• sealant;
• large sewing needle;
• materials for interior decoration of the box;
• foam rubber and other seat upholstery materials.

Inside the box, you can not zone it, as well as not make the seat soft, just leave bare plywood. In this case, materials for arranging the interior space and upholstery are not needed.

Preparing the necessary elements

The algorithm for making a box for winter fishing is as follows:

1. First you need to remove the freezer from the old Soviet-made refrigerator.
2. After that, it is necessary to cut off the pipe through which freon previously circulated and rivet it, since otherwise this substance will flow out with an unpleasant odor.
3. When the pipe is riveted, it is required to remove the back (during operation it is the bottom) wall of the freezer, lightly tapping it with a hammer.
4. After dismantling the wall, you need to take 10 mm plywood, which is pasted over with plastic on both sides. Other types of plywood are also suitable (coated with NC varnish or drying oil).
5. With a pencil, you need to circle the inner perimeter of the freezer and cut the desired piece out of plywood along it.
6. If the back wall made of tin does not correspond to the size of the freezer, then it is recommended to cut a sheet of aluminum of the same dimensions as plywood, but with rounded edges. To protect against water from an aluminum plate, it is also necessary to make a standing seam (a certain option for fastening metal sheets in roofing), but do not rivet it.

Advice! It is better when the refrigeration equipment is no longer working, since a normally functioning unit can be used much better than disassembling it and rendering it completely unusable.

Collection

It is necessary to lay plywood, and then you need to put a fold on one of the open sides of the freezer and only then a pre-cut aluminum sheet. However, the folds cannot be clamped or riveted, only tightly planted to better hold, you can slightly adjust with gentle blows of a hammer or mallet.

When the fit is completed, a pencil or marker is taken, and the centers of future holes on the folds with the freezer box are marked around the perimeter. The drill makes holes along the marks, so about 12 pieces will come out around the perimeter. This allows you to partially secure the bottom of the fishing box.

Seat

It is permissible to take 10 mm plywood on the seat;

Attention! If the plywood is not processed, then it needs to be impregnated with varnish or drying oil and allowed to dry.

On the side where there is a hole from the nozzle, you need to drill 4 holes - for two canopies. When they are fixed, it is required to mark the centers of the holes on the plywood (seat) and also drill holes. Then, after the completion of this stage, foam rubber is laid and covered with any selected material (leatherette, leather - natural or artificial, fabric, etc.). In order not to hear how the air comes out of the seat when you sit on it, you need to smear rubber glue along the edge of the articulation of the upholstery material and plywood. In this case, the corner where leatherette or other material is connected must be sewn with a strong thread.

Zoning and arrangement of internal space

The interior space of an almost finished ice fishing box can be kept intact. But, throwing all the necessary fishing accessories into the camera, there is a risk of breaking a rod or other valuable item. Partitions inside the box can be set in accordance with your own wishes, for example:

• large department for the catch;
• compacted area for a thermos;
• loops for fishing rods;
• place for a drill and a shovel.

Also inside or outside you can place an additional pocket for storing fishing line, hooks, weights. As a material for the manufacture of partitions, you can use the available material - aluminum or plywood sheet. If the additional walls of the compartments are made of metal, then when cutting it, you need to leave a tolerance of 1.5-2 cm on each side. On the left stock, cuts are made and the ears are bent for fastening to the body of the freezer. Bolts can be used for connection.

Carry strap and padding

To fasten the belt, you need to make reliable loops from a dural rod and a plate. The loop itself should be bent from the wire and clamped in a plate folded in 2 layers. The plate itself must be bolted to the body - the calculation should be done so that the place of fixation of the belt is swivel. When the holes are already prepared, you can start upholstery:

1. A piece of leatherette or other selected material must be wrapped around the walls of the freezer with a margin of 2 cm per seam and 2 cm each from the top and bottom sides. In this position, the place of a tight joint should be noted.
2. According to the marked position, it is necessary to make a line seam with a dense thread - it is better if it is nylon or lavsan. If you sew through an overlock, then the connection will be much stronger.
3. The resulting bottomless bag should sit with a slight interference fit on the body of the freezer. Before putting it on, the surface of the box is coated with moisture-resistant glue.
4. When the upholstery is already stretched over the body, the upper and lower edges of the material must be smeared with adhesive, bent to the inside (cutting where required) and fixed with paper clips or clothespins.

When the glue is completely dry, you can proceed to the final assembly of the structure - installing the bottom, dividing partitions, seat and belt loops. The bottom of the box after assembly on the inside and outside in the area of ​​​​the seams should be additionally coated with sealant. The place reserved for the thermos can be additionally sealed so that the flask does not hang out in its cell.

Results

Making a fishing box from a freezer is not a difficult task. The main thing in this matter is to choose the right materials and strictly follow the procedure. If the design is assembled correctly, then such a box can last several decades. Changing the design features and selecting upholstery materials to your liking will only give the fishing box a certain personality.

Many novice anglers, when purchasing winter equipment for fishing, experience financial difficulties when buying winter equipment. This is especially experienced by people of retirement age, residents of the rural hinterland and schoolchildren. But in many ways, you can alleviate your financial difficulties by deciding to make some fishing equipment yourself.

For example, a fishing box! In Soviet times, when the country "suffered" from a shortage in everything, many anglers themselves made this most important attribute of winter fishing. Most often, it was made from plywood, sawing out the necessary details (sidewalls, lid, bottom) and fastening them together with bars using nails. Almost at the same time, a method of making a box appeared, from a refrigerator freezer that had become unusable.

Today, old Soviet refrigerators are thrown into a landfill, replacing them with more modern and high-quality "units". For the case of a fishing box, a freezer removed from a worn-out Soviet refrigerator is perfect. It is only necessary to separate the tubes through which the freon gas went from the chamber and at your disposal is the finished body of the fishing box!

The bottom of the box is made from the required width of a wooden board of coniferous species (aspen can be used) with a thickness of 2-3 cm. For the penetration of melt water, especially in spring, between the walls of the housing and the bottom, it is advisable to insert a sealing strip of rubber (from the bicycle chamber), first wrap the ends of the bottom with it and fix it to the walls of the housing with screws, stepping back from the edge of the bottom 3-5 cm.

The bottom must be covered with drying oil or paint from the outside. The protective layer of paint and the maintained distance (between the bottom and the ice) prevent the penetration of water into the box. It should only be remembered to carefully free the place for the box on the ice from snow.

The lid of the box is cut out of thick plywood. Having given the workpiece the desired shape, one should take into account a small overlap in front and on the sides of the future cover. Then a sponge (from a tractor or car seat) is laid on the workpiece and covered with a tarpaulin. With the help of a furniture stapler, the edges of the tarpaulin are fixed to the plywood, to the underside of the cover. The resulting cover should be connected to the body with small hinges or a tape hinge using screws. A small bar should be attached to the inside of the case, into which the screws connecting the hinges will cut.

In the fishing box, additional compartments are needed (for gear, prey, products), which are easy to make from scraps of the board. Having cut to the required dimensions and processed the blanks, they should be placed vertically in the body and fixed to the walls with screws.

To carry the box, you will need a strong and preferably wide strap. It is fixed to the sides of the box with small bolts, having previously made holes in the sides.

The fishing box is ready! Its duralumin base gives the box lightness, which is very important for large transitions and an aesthetic appearance. It is quite strong and durable and, of course, economical - in terms of acquisition.
