So, you have arrived in the Dominican Republic, most likely at Punta Cana airport. You need to find a machine that sells “tourist cards”. It has the corresponding inscription “tourist cards” or “tarjeta del tourista” (this is in Spanish). This is where we buy this document. It is better to stock up on a 10 US dollar bill in advance.

Even if you pass first, you will still be waiting for all the other travelers near the bus. You have a group transfer, everyone is waiting for the very last person to go to the hotel.

You can also choose which currency to pay in, either 10 dollars or 10 euros. Just in case, if you do not have American currency, but have European currency, you can pay with it.

After this, the “tourist card” needs to be filled out, which causes difficulties for many, since there are no inscriptions in Russian. All explanatory notes are made in English and Spanish. The fact that it is not free makes it even more scary. There are people at Punta Cana Airport who will fill it out for you for the modest sum of $5.

The form of the document changes frequently and, perhaps, you will receive a copy that is not exactly the same as the one we provide.

The map consists of two parts. The top (large) one will be taken from you when going through passport control. The second (bottom) one will be left for you, and you should keep it for the rest of the trip.

The procedure for filling out the top part of the tourist card to the Dominican Republic. Click on photo to enlarge.

First column (1) intended for your last name. Copy exactly from your foreign passport in Latin letters. For example, “IVANOV”

In the second column (2) enter your name exactly like in the passport. For example, “IGOR”.

Third line (3) intended for your date of birth. We write first the day, then the month and then the last two digits of the year. Example – “16 06 83”.

On the fourth line (4) need to write your nationality. Write “RUSSIA” or “RUSSIAN”.

In one of the squares at number five (5) you need to check the box indicating What's your gender. Don’t get confused, the top square is a man, and the bottom one is a woman.

On the sixth line (6) write your passport number. Copy from your passport. A space between the series and the number may or may not be left. As you wish. Example – “76 984562”.

To the seventh line (7) enter your flight number. Example – “SU152”.

Eighth field (8)- This your country of residence. Write “RUSSIA”.

In the ninth field (9) need to write your permanent residence address. No one will check your spelling, write as you wish. Example “Moscow, ulitsa Stroiteley, 25-17”.

Tenth field (10) seems mysterious to many. This is additional information about region of your residence. Americans write the name of their state here. You can write “Samarskaya oblast” or “Moscowskaya oblast” or simply “Moscow”.

In the eleventh column (11) You must indicate the name and address of your hotel. Write only the hotel name, there will be no complaints against you.

Twelfth Earl (12)– yours occupation. Write “worker” or “manager”, no one will check.

Field number thirteen (13) – Family status . The left square is not married (single), the right one is married (married).

At number fourteen (14) need to be specified purpose of your visit to the Dominican Republic. Place a check in the top left box. It means “rest.” Of course, the Dominicans translated the Spanish word “recreo” into English in their own way. English word“pleasure” literally translates as “pleasure.”

The picture on the left shows a correctly filled out “tourist card”. You can use it as a sample.

Fifteenth line (15) misleads many with its name in Spanish “FIRMA”. Most importantly, do not write here the name of the company you work for! Here you need put your signature.

And in the last sixteenth column (16) need to indicate how many days will you stay in the Dominican Republic.

The lower part is filled a little differently. Fields (1), (2), (3) and (4) exactly the same, it's last name, first name, date of birth and citizenship.

In the fifth column (5) need to be specified your departure destination from the Dominican Republic. That is, we indicate the city to which we will fly back. Write “MOSCOW”, “SAINT-PETERSBURG” or “EKATERINBURG”.

In the sixth column (6) write return flight number to my homeland.

In the seventh line (7) write date of departure from the country. That is, the date, month and year when you will fly from the Dominican Republic.

For an example of correctly filling out the second part of the “tourist card”, see the photo on the left. Click on photo to enlarge.

You keep this part with you and keep it until your flight from the Dominican Republic to your homeland. You will need to present it at passport control. It’s better to put it in your passport right away so as not to lose it.

Most importantly, don't put it in your luggage. This is the most common problem situation, since luggage is checked in before passport control.
