The Peugeot RCZ coupe is the most luxurious Peugeot. Peugeot RCZ – French coupe Peugeot sports model

The compact sports coupe Peugeot RCZ, having undergone an update, was presented at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. A model with a striking appearance appeared in the French manufacturer’s lineup not long ago (the car has been produced since May 2010), but car enthusiasts in 80 countries where the Peugeot RSZ is available purchased more than 16,000 copies in the first year of production alone. On February 14, 2013, a coupe with number 50,000 left the factory gates. In our review, we will try to find out what lies behind the success of the popularity of the French coupe not only in Europe, but also in Russia, consider the updated design of the exterior and interior of the car, find out the size of the installed tires and wheels, choose the color of the enamel, find out the exact overall dimensions of the body and technical characteristics of Peugeot RCZ 2013, prices in Russian car dealerships and level of equipment. Video and photo materials will help us evaluate the appearance and interior of the restyled Peugeot RCZ 2013; we can learn about the coupe’s behavior on the road and real fuel consumption by analyzing reviews from owners and comments from auto journalists.

The appearance of the updated coupe is so bright and distinctive that even owners of expensive sports cars - Lamborghini, Ferrari or Aston Martin - open their mouths in surprise. They are even more surprised by the cost of the compact French coupe. Wealthy car enthusiasts do not understand how such a device can be purchased for less than 1.2 million rubles. The appearance of the Peugeot RCZ is not only stylish and bright, but also unusual compared to the rest of the French manufacturer’s line.

Putting next to the Peugeot RCZ coupe the mediocre sedans Peugeot 301, Peugeot 408, Peugeot 508 or new hatchback Peugeot 208, while closing the “lion” on the hood of a two-door sports car, you can look for similarities for a very long time and in the end you won’t find it.

The wide, low coupe body with refined lines and contours, large muscles of the wheel arches, and the roof dome with double spheres are like a work of art. Having walked around the car for the first time, there is a desire to take a “lap of honor” several more times in order to fully enjoy the beauty of the coupe.

Large narrowed almond-shaped headlights are located on the smooth contours of the hills of the wheel arches, the compact central air intake stylishly complements the lower air duct, shaped like a bird with wings outstretched in flight and decorated with rays of LED daytime running lights, a bumper fairing with a mass of aerodynamic elements hugs the front part of the body , optimally redistributing air flows.

When viewing the car in profile, you immediately notice the miniature dome of the roof, resting on the body with powerful arches painted in a contrasting color.
The roof looks weightless against the backdrop of the muscular body of the coupe with large and swollen wheel arches, a cabin offset towards the front axle, an original doorway and a long upper part of the stern.

The rear of the Peugeot RCZ body is like a mirror image of the front of the car; aerodynamics are at the forefront. Body panels, a trunk lid with a spoiler hidden in its plane (raises automatically to an angle of 19 degrees at a speed of 85 mph and turns into a real wing with an angle of attack of 34 degrees when reaching 150 mph), a bumper and side lights - the stern looks like a drop of water. Drag coefficient 0.32 Cx.

The car is really beautiful and stylish, and most importantly original. We are trying to analyze and find a similar one, but apart from the Audi TT (which doesn’t look so bright) there is nothing to remember.

  • We got carried away with the description of the appearance and forgot to indicate the external overall dimensions of the 2013 Peugeot RCZ body: 4287 mm in length, 1845 mm (with mirrors 2106 mm) wide, 1359 mm in height, 2612 mm wheelbase, front wheel track 1580 mm, and rear wheel track 1593 mm.
  • The ground clearance when installing tires 235/45 R18 or 235/40 R19 as an option is 111 mm. The design of alloy wheels in sizes 18-19 can be chosen from ten options.
  • Eight color options are available for body painting: basic - Blank Opal (white varnish), for metallics Gris Sidobre (gray), Brun Guaranja (brown), Blue Tuanake (blue), Rouge Erythree (red), Gris Haria (dark gray) and Noir Perla Nera (black) you need to pay an additional 14,000 rubles, the cost of Blank Nacre (white mother-of-pearl) is 17,000 rubles.
  • The roof and roof arches, as we said above, are painted in a separate color, with a choice of two options: for the roof arches - sand chrome or matte black, for the roof dome - black diamond or black satin.

To personalize the body of the French coupe, a wide selection of decals is also available. Thus, by choosing the colors of the body, pillars and roof dome, you can create an original and individual car.

The interior of the updated 2013 Peugeot RCZ with a 2+2 seating arrangement means placing a driver and an adult passenger in the front row of seats and two children in the rear seats. You can seat children in the second row, but only in extreme cases of primary school age, no more. So let's forget about the rear seats and focus on the driver's workplace and the seat of his companion.

The architecture of the front part of the sports coupe's interior is exactly the same as the interior of the 308 models of the Peugeot family. A plump steering wheel with three spokes, stylish and informative instruments with two large and a pair of small dials complemented by an on-board computer screen, smooth lines of the dashboard with round deflectors for the ventilation grilles. On top of the dashboard, as an option for 45,000 rubles, you can install a 7-inch color screen for the navigator, on the vertical plane of the center console multimedia system(CD MP3 Bluetooth with Arkamys sound processing system and a USB connector in the depths of the armrest) and a dual-zone climate control unit. The seats are anatomically shaped with developed lateral support, but... the bolsters hold the hips perfectly, which cannot be said about fixing the torso of the driver and passenger. When cornering aggressively, riders begin to fall out of their seats, although on the other side the seats provide a comfortable and comfortable fit. So we will assume that the French interior specialists have found the optimal balance between comfort and grip of the seats.

A choice of soft plastics and fabrics, leather of various grades and color combinations are offered as materials for finishing the interior and seats of the sports coupe. It’s a shame, but the build quality of the interior, the detailing of interior elements and tactile perception in the RCZ coupe clearly do not reach the level of not only premium sports cars, but even that of representatives of the German auto industry.

Finally, let’s point out the cargo capacity of the coupe’s trunk - from 384 liters with children in the rear seats, to 760 liters with the back row of the rear row down and loading under the ceiling.

Specifications Peugeot RCZ 2013: for Russian car enthusiasts, the updated sports coupe from Peugeot is offered with two four-cylinder gasoline engines jointly developed by Peugeot and BMW mechanics.

  • The 1.6-liter paired with a 6-speed manual transmission produces 156 horsepower, the coupe weighing 1275 kg reaches 100 mph in 8.0 seconds and accelerates to 215 mph. Average fuel consumption is about 6.7 liters.
  • The 1.6-liter engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission is capable of delivering 150 horsepower. The acceleration dynamics of a car weighing from 1300 kg to the first hundred in 8.4 seconds, the maximum speed is about 213 km/h, with an average gasoline consumption of 7.3 liters.
  • At the top is a turbocharged 1.6-liter (200 hp) engine with a 6-speed manual transmission, a sports coupe weighing about 1300 kg in tandem with engine and mechanics shoots to the first hundred in 7.5 seconds, with a top speed of about 240 mph. The turbo version has modest fuel consumption; the manufacturer claims a combined cycle consumption of 6.9 liters.

In real operating conditions, gasoline engines actually consume about 6-6.5 liters on a suburban highway at a speed of 120-130 mph; in the city the figure is slightly higher, 8.5-9 liters. During active driving, fuel consumption can rise to 12 liters, but the tachometer needle will remain constant in the red zone.

Test Drive The updated Peugeot RCZ coupe with an initial 156 horsepower engine almost exactly copies the habits of the Peugeot 308 hatchback platform donor - stability and predictability. The excitement is there, but... the real thrill will be given only by the 200 horsepower version, which is distinguished not only by a more powerful engine, but also by a front suspension with pseudo McPherson struts (with separately installed steering knuckles) from the Peugeot 508 and more clamped springs and stiffer shock absorbers. A French coupe with such a set drives simply super, the potential of the suspension is high and, in tandem with a powerful engine, allows you to misbehave on the road.

To sum up our review, I would like to say that the sporty French coupe Peugeot RCZ not only looks cool, but is also a pleasure to drive, but the asphalt under the wheels must be smooth; if there are potholes on the road, a stiff suspension and low-profile tires with scanty ground clearance will obviously not a joy.

How much does it cost: you can buy the updated 2013 Peugeot RCZ coupe in Russia for a price starting from 1,199 thousand rubles for a car with a 1.6 (156 hp) 6 manual transmission. The 200 horsepower version of the Peugeot RCZ with manual transmission is sold at car dealerships of official dealers at a price of at least 1,299 thousand rubles.

Having calculated the expenses during a month-long test of the Peugeot RCZ, comparing them with the price of the car and estimating how much the owner of such a car would have to spend in the first year of ownership, Motor found out that the French coupe is even too much fun for its money.

Cars are becoming more expensive. Either restyling will take place, then a new generation will appear. Inflation also does not stand still, and the state periodically complicates the lives of dealers and consumers with additional fees. Now, when a well-equipped golf car can easily cost more than a million rubles, the 1.35 million that dealers are asking for the limited version of the Peugeot RCZ Black Yearling coupe seems like a reasonable expenditure. Especially considering the appearance of this car and its excellent driving habits.

What will the buyer get for an additional 150 thousand compared to the regular RCZ coupe with a stick, which sells for 1,199,000 rubles? Externally, the Black Yearling version can be recognized by the original 19-inch Soltice wheels, black calipers and a special black Noir Perla Nera color scheme, diluted with sandy aluminum on the massive roof arches. Plus swiveling bi-xenon headlights with washer and a leather-wrapped interior. But there is one useful thing, which our modification was deprived of: the “dokatka”, which is present on cars with 18-inch tires. Instead, there is a repair kit and a compressor, with which it’s scary to go on a long journey.

But if you want to save money, then you can easily stop at the basic version of RCZ. “Xenon” is not at all necessary, in Russia it is better to always have a “dokatka” with you, and the value of 19-inch “shoes” is generally very doubtful: the wheels clearly knock off each joint and really don’t like ruts. Or for the same money you can buy an RCZ in the “top-end” 200-horsepower version with steering knuckles in the front suspension. And this is the most correct option.

However, for those who still think that 1,350,000 rubles is expensive for such a car, we have selected five more cars on which you can spend this amount:

In terms of handling - the main trump card of the RCZ - the French coupe on this list is second only to the hot hatch Renault Megane RS. But in terms of involvement in the driving process, these cars are very close. That's because the RCZ belongs to that rare breed of car that doesn't soften, but rather enhances the driving experience. It seems to have only 156 horsepower, simple suspension, but there’s more than enough “drive”. You roll at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, but it seems that you are driving at 160! At a familiar turn, a fellow traveler suddenly nervously grabs the door handle - it seems to him that this is the limit of the coupe's capabilities, but in reality the Peugeot is only walking at a walking pace.

The RCZ is a catalyst for the driving experience. And this is its huge advantage.

The Peugeot RCZ makes the driver feel truly involved in the driving process. The gearshift lever moves clearly in the grooves, the throttle response is better than that of the Peugeot 308 donor hatchback, and the information from the steering wheel is so truthful that sometimes you even doubt the presence of an amplifier. Emotions are aggravated by the stiff suspension paired with 19‑inch wheels and the useless sound insulation. You can hear everything: the engine with the modest whine of the turbine, the clatter of the gearbox, the operation of the suspension, and the whistle of the wind. And all this is also part of the sporty ambiance of the RCZ.

The disadvantages are traditional for cars with a coupe body: two-seater capacity and cross-country ability, sacrificed for beauty. The long and low (140 mm) front overhang, which even in summer caused some inconvenience, casts doubt on the possibility of problem-free winter operation. And the best thing about the formal rear seats is that they fold flat, increasing boot capacity to an impressive 760 liters. But the low opening will still not allow loading oversized cargo.

At first, the RCZ interior was satisfying with the number of containers for small items. But later it turned out that the only useful compartment is the one located under the microclimate unit, with a rubberized bottom. The door pockets are too narrow and have no compartments for bottles, and the cup holder is so small that it won't even hold a can of soda. The armrest box is also tiny, but it has AUX and USB inputs.

One cannot help but complain about the completely ridiculous algorithm for controlling the wipers. The problem is that the rain sensor cannot be simply turned off with one click. It is turned on by swinging the steering column lever down, and turned off by first switching the wipers to intermittent operation mode and then returning the lever to “zero”. Inconvenient. But the hinged “brushes” clean a large surface of the windshield, leaving almost no dirty areas.

By the way, the RCZ has excellent visibility, especially when driving in reverse: you can look in the large mirrors, or you can just turn around and almost rest your nose on the rear convex window. You sit as if under a transparent cap. The only inconvenience is the massive front pillars, which make it difficult to look “inside” the turn.

But nothing prevents us from looking into the wallet of a Peugeot RCZ owner and seeing how much he will have to spend on his car in the first 12 months of ownership. Traditionally, we calculate expenses for a driver over 22 years old, with an accident-free driving experience of more than three years, who lives in Moscow. We usually take the annual mileage as 20 thousand kilometers, but for the coupe, which is unlikely to be used intensively in winter, we decided to reduce this figure to 15 thousand kilometers.

In exchange for the driving fun that the RCZ can provide every day, it requires very little: average consumption during a long test was only 9.8 liters per 100 kilometers. The much less “hot” Audi A1 1.4 TFSI, for example, consumed the same amount. And the 1.4-liter naturally aspirated Opel Corsa required 10.5 liters per “hundred” with incomparably worse dynamics and rather bland handling. It turns out that when average price at 30 rubles per liter of 95 gasoline, in a year the Peugeot RCZ will “eat” about 1,470 liters for 44,100 rubles.

The average cost of CASCO for Peugeot RCZ in insurance companies with a rating of “A+ and higher” will be about 115,000 rubles. You will have to pay 6,336 rubles for an MTPL policy. Transport tax for a 156-horsepower RCZ in Moscow is 5,928 rubles. The cost of TO-1 from an official dealer is about 8,000 rubles.

Peugeot RCZ owner's expenses in the first year of operation

Total: 179,364 rubles Mileage kilometer (fuel only): 2.94 rubles Mileage kilometer (including all expenses, including CASCO): 11.96 rubles Mileage kilometer (including all expenses, except CASCO): 4.29 rubles

Thus, each day of ownership of RCZ will cost approximately 470 rubles. The main part of the expenses, as usual, is the payment of CASCO insurance. If you exclude it from the list, then the costs will immediately be limited to the amount of 56,346 rubles, and the price per kilometer will drop to 4 rubles 29 kopecks.

For comparison, an Opel Corsa from “Our Garage” in the same operating mode would cost 3 rubles 60 kopecks, and a Chevrolet Orlando – 3 rubles 93 kopecks (but including TO-1). So it turns out that owning a sports coupe is not at all as expensive as it seems at first. Are there any direct competitors to the Peugeot RCZ? Let's figure it out.

Mazda MX-5

Despite the fact that the Mazda MX-5 comes with rear-wheel drive, we decided to put it in competition - as an ideological opponent. The third generation of the legendary roadster, produced since 2005, underwent its first restyling in 2008, and another one this year. All cars offered by Russian dealers are sold only with a hard folding roof, so you can drive the MX-5 even in winter. The cheapest is the MX-5 with a 126-horsepower 1.8 engine and a five-speed manual transmission – from 1,126,000 rubles. The Sport version with a two-liter (160 horsepower) engine with a manual transmission and six gears is estimated at 1,301,000 rubles. The Comfort modification with the same engine, but with an automatic transmission, will cost 1,326,000 rubles.

Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ

The twin brothers Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ, which recently debuted in Russia, are also equipped with rear-wheel drive. On this moment on the Russian market this is one of the most interesting offers in the class of still budget, but already “hot” coupes. There is only one engine available - a two-liter 200-horsepower boxer engine. If Subaru offers the only fixed and expensive (1,436,000 rubles) equipment, then Toyota has three: “Elegance” (1,353,000 rubles), “Prestige” (1,412,000 rubles) and “Lux” (1,483,000 rubles) . The first two are only available with a manual transmission, while the “Lux” version is only available with an automatic transmission. There are also versions with a more aggressive aerodynamic body kit and a huge rear wing - these are the “Prestige Aero” for 1,476,000 and the “Lux Aero” for 1,547,000 rubles.

Audi TT

The “premium” competitor for the Peugeot RCZ is the Audi TT. It is with this car that the RCZ is most often compared, even though the prices for the German coupe are significantly higher. The cheapest version of the TT is a front-wheel drive version with a 160-horsepower 1.8 TFSI engine with a manual transmission (from 1,563,800 rubles for a modest package). The version with a 211-horsepower 2.0 TFSI engine costs at least 1,797,600 rubles, and the S tronic “robot” adds another 71 thousand to the price. Audi TT version with all-wheel drive quattro, “robot” and 2.0 TFSI engine will cost 1,952,600 rubles. In addition, the TT can also be purchased in sports versions S and RS, as well as in the Roadster body.

What's the result? We believe that the RCZ is worth a closer look for those who are looking for... a “charged” hatchback. Ideologically, this class is closest to pseudo-sports coupes like the RCZ or Volkswagen Scirocco, built on the basis of “civilian” models. Moreover, even the basic RCZ is quite “hot”, although it is better to choose the 200-horsepower version - even sharper and more dynamic. And the price of 1,299,000 rubles for such a modification seems completely justified.

Appearance, dynamics and handling - these are the main factors when choosing a sports car. In addition to these advantages, the authentic Peugeot RCZ coupe sports car boasted an unbending character, which was not hidden even by the elegant hood and stylish details. And despite the fact that this model is no longer produced, it deserves to be called an example of luxury and style.

The standard of a sports car

The Peugeot RCZ sports coupe (RCZ) appeared on the Russian market in 2010, which marked the next round of development of this famous French brand. IN modern conditions Fierce competition and the pursuit of new forms and technologies in the automotive industry, Peugeot designers relied on the success of the 308 RCZ concept car, which became the prototype of the new model. Immediately after its appearance, the Peugeot RCZ was awarded by Top Gear magazine as “Coupe of the Year”, and its photos were included in leading automotive publications. A significant advantage of the Peugeot RCZ was the price, which turned out to be significantly lower than the cost of analogues of other brands.

Foppish Peugeot

The signature design of the Peugeot RCZ, combined with fresh design ideas, distinguished the car from its classmates. The sweeping silhouette, the cabin shifted forward, expressive fenders, convex wheel arches reflected the strength and originality of the model, while soft lines, cat-like narrowed headlights and an original radiator grille emphasized the restrained and elegant style of the Peugeot RCZ. Against the backdrop of the solid coupe body, the exquisite double-dome roof, smoothly flowing into the darkened rear window, looked like a real work of art.

Unrivaled aerodynamics

In the field of aerodynamics, the Peugeot RCZ set the bar high: the car's well-thought-out proportions, combined with a curved roof, ensured ideal oncoming airflow around the body. Therefore, the aerodynamic drag coefficient is 0.326, and the frontal projection area is 0.67 sq.m. A lower center of gravity, a wide track and tires with 18-inch alloy wheels added stability, reduced fuel consumption and increased traction. Aerodynamic performance was also enhanced by the rear spoiler spoiler, which changed its position depending on the speed of the sports car.

Elegant simplicity

The interior of the Peugeot RZZ attracted the attention of buyers with its ergonomics and laconicism inherent in sports cars. Excellent visibility, a convenient control panel, a smaller diameter steering wheel with chrome inserts, a short gear lever, a stylish clock in the center of the dashboard - everything has been thought out so that the driver enjoys the driving process without feeling tired. At the same time, high-quality leather upholstery, anatomical seats with integrated headrests and depth adjustment, an abundance of chrome elements, excellent sound insulation, clarity and harmony of colors, materials and decorative elements indicated that this was a high-class car. Despite its compactness, the Peugeot RCZ was also distinguished by its practicality: spacious salon with a 2+2 seating formula, it is designed for two adults and two children, and the trunk volume was 384 liters.

Maximum security

As a rule, Peugeot RCZ owners are lovers of adrenaline and fast driving who do not always think about their own safety. But there was no need to worry about that! The supporting structure of the Peugeot RZZ is equipped with elements that dissipate the impact energy during a collision, and the pyrotechnic system automatically raises the hood by 0.55 m. The reinforced body, roof arches and rear pillars served the same purpose. In addition, the car was equipped efficient systems security:

  • front and side airbags;
  • lap belts with pretensioners and force limiters;
  • ISOFIX mounts for installing child seats;
  • ABS+EBD+ESP, as well as emergency braking assistance (EBA) with the ability to manually turn off;
  • traction control system (ASR);
  • Hill Assist for steering assistance on steep roads.

The magic of speed

Exceptional handling and directional stability of the Peugeot RCZ was provided by the suspension: front MacPherson type, adapted for fast and maneuverable driving, and rear transverse beam. The power and wear resistance of the braking system are increased due to brake discs with a diameter of 302 mm and a thickness of 26 mm. Before the car was discontinued, it could be bought with three types of engines that met Euro-5 standards, and in 4 different trim levels:

  • 4-cylinder and 1.6-liter manual engine with a power of 156 hp. and torque 240 Nm. A speed of 100 km/h was reached in 8 seconds, average fuel consumption was 6.7 liters;
  • “automatic” Aisin AT6 with 1.6 liters of similar power. Combined cycle consumption was 7.3 liters, but the maximum speed was also higher - 240 km;
  • A 200-horsepower 1.6-liter gasoline engine paired with a manual transmission, producing 275 Nm of torque;
  • European version, not sold in Russia, with a 2-liter turbodiesel engine producing 163 hp. and low fuel consumption of 5.5 liters per 100 km.

The concept model of the Peugeot RCZ was introduced in 2007, and the production model in 2009. In 2010, assembly of the sports coupe began. Two years later, in 2012, the car underwent a slight restyling: the front part was updated and LED daytime running lights appeared. In addition, the most powerful version of the RCZ R has been added to the range.

Peugeot RSZ holds the road superbly. The hydraulic power steering is quite precise. The weakest version has wheels measuring 225/40 R18.

Prices for a used Peugeot RCZ from the first years of production start at 650,000 rubles. For a more equipped Audi TT of the same year you will have to pay at least 1,000,000 rubles. At the same time, German cars are often not in the best condition, while a French car is more likely to get it first-hand.

Many elements are borrowed from the Peugeot 308, but the quality of the finish is much higher.

If the Peugeot RSZ was not in an accident, then you don’t have to worry about body corrosion. But in the event of an accident, you can face big problems. Many body parts are scarce and relatively expensive. For example, for a “used” front bumper you will have to pay about 6,000 rubles, and for a new one – about 80,000 rubles. The cost of a complete set with used headlights, fenders and hood will exceed 20,000 rubles. A set of new parts will cost 114,000 rubles: headlight 10,000 rubles, wing 2,000 rubles and hood 90,000 rubles. Glass is also not easy to find. The windshield is estimated at 36,000 rubles, and the unique rear, which has a curved profile and smoothly merges into the roof, is almost 4 times more expensive - 130,000 rubles.

Great chairs. The only pity is that the thick backrests limit access to the rear of the cabin.

However, with technical maintenance no difficulties will arise. Most of the Peugeot RCZ's components are borrowed from the cheaper Peugeot 308. However, the sports coupe impresses with its build quality and better reliability. The suspension is of a simple design using MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. Surprisingly, this combination works very well. The precision of the gearbox and the temperament of the car are simply amazing.

The main core of Peugeot RSZ power units is formed by gasoline engines based on a 1.6-liter block. They all have direct fuel injection, but differ significantly in power. The weakest develops 156 hp, and the strongest – 270 hp. All these units were developed by PSA jointly with BMW and are equipped with a timing chain drive. Unfortunately, the theoretically relatively durable component turned out to be the most vulnerable. The chain tensioner regularly breaks down, forcing owners to change the timing drive almost every 60,000 km - from 10,000 rubles.

There's little headroom in the back. The backrests of the second row fold down, increasing the volume of the luggage compartment.

If someone is going to operate a car over long distances without frequent refueling, then they can pay attention to the diesel version (piece version). The Peugeot RCZ uses the time-tested 2.0 HDi, which in this model develops 163 hp. All diesel modifications are equipped with a particulate filter. Among the disadvantages of a turbodiesel, oil leaks that appear over time can be noted.

The remaining components of the model function flawlessly. However, there were notorious failures in the operation of electronics and xenon light.

A huge surprise - the trunk has a volume of 320 liters and is correctly shaped.

In conclusion we will reveal interesting fact. Peugeot RSZ was never produced in its homeland. The coupe was assembled in Graz, Austria. Most cars have the maximum possible equipment (within the proposed list).

The rear spoiler extends automatically when the speed reaches 85 km/h or after pressing a button.

If someone wants an original car that drives well, then the Peugeot RCZ is a good choice.

All this allowed the model to win the hearts of thousands of buyers.

Story

The company first started talking about a new car back in 2007, and a concept car of the new model was shown at the automobile exhibition in Frankfurt. Then it was called Peugeot 308. After its success, the company began creating a production version. The first version of the RSZ, intended for mass production, was shown two years after the concept and again at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In 2010, the model began to be delivered to end customers. The car was assembled by the Magna Steyr plant located in Austria. Subsequently, the sports car was sold in 80 countries.

When developing the model, the company paid great attention appearance cars. It is distinguished by a complex wave-like rear view, a wide radiator grille, smooth body lines with special arches made of aluminum alloy, thanks to which the car began to look more dynamic from the side. At the same time, the designers did not forget about the traditions of the brand; the headlights give out the features of the “cat” look, which is so loved by fans of Peugeot cars.

The Peugeot RSZ coupe was based on the serial hatchback of the 308th model. But new car lost 74 kg, the wheelbase remained unchanged in length - 2610 mm, but became wider, and the engineers also lowered the car’s center of gravity. This allowed the car to better maintain its trajectory, firmly clinging to the asphalt with tires on 18-inch wheels.

The car's low height of 1.36 meters and the precise lines of the rear window and roof allowed the developers to achieve excellent aerodynamic performance from it. This is also facilitated by a special spoiler, which can change its position depending on the speed of movement to achieve the best combination stability and fuel economy.

To ensure better handling of the Peugeot RCZ, Hill Assist and systems are installed on all trim levels. ESP can be manually switched off to provide additional driving experience.

In 2012, at the Paris Motor Show, an updated version of the sports coupe was shown from model range 2013. The manufacturer slightly redesigned the exterior and interior, and also expanded the selection of color options.

The exterior of the updated car has a new radiator grille, headlights and front bumper. The new radiator grille is made in the company's new style and gives the model a more harmonious look. Corrected optics and a bumper equipped with LED running lights refreshed the appearance and gave the car a more modern look. External changes were complemented by new rims.

In addition, the buyer now has the opportunity to order roof arches painted black. The maximum-spec interior is now available with brown leather upholstery.

In 2015, the car was discontinued. This is due to the company’s profit optimization program, within the framework of which the number of models produced should be reduced. Unfortunately, there are no plans to continue the Peugeot line.

This model has 4 engines in the lineup, one of them is diesel, and the rest are gasoline. The units accelerate the model to hundreds quite well, let's learn more about each.

  1. The weakest gasoline engine has a volume of 1.6 liters and is turbocharged. It gives out 156 Horse power and this allows the car to reach a hundred in 8 seconds, the maximum speed is 217 km/h. It consumes 9 liters in city mode, and 5 liters on the highway.
  2. There is also a version that produces 200 horsepower and 275 units of torque. With it, acceleration is reduced by half a second, and top speed increases by 23 km/h. At the same time, he spends the same amount.
  3. The most powerful version of the engine also has turbocharging and direct injection. The volume is also 1.6 liters and it produces 270 horses. With it, the model already reaches a hundred in 6 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h. In the mixed cycle he uses a little less.
  4. There is also a turbocharged diesel engine with 16 valves. With its volume of 2 liters, it produces 163 horses and 340 H*m of torque. Almost 9 seconds to hundreds and 225 km/h maximum speed. Its consumption is low - only 7 liters in the city and less than 5 on the highway.

All Peugeot RCZ engines are paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, but the first engine can be equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. I'm pleased with the slightly unusual suspension at the front - it's a MacPherson strut, but it's been modified. The steering knuckles are mounted separately and the springs are made more compressed. The chassis is stiff, but this stiffness encourages you to drive sportily. By the way, the rear suspension is semi-independent and has a steering system.

The model’s brakes are quite sufficient; they are all disc, but unfortunately ventilation is only present at the front.

Salon

Inside, everything is done quite well, leather upholstery is fitted, although as an option. The seats are sports, they are made just like buckets. These chairs have mechanical adjustments. Surprisingly, there is quite a lot of space for this class, there are also 2 seats in the back, but it is very difficult to seat someone there.

A regular 3-spoke steering wheel is installed, which has leather trim and that's all. Behind the wheel we see analog gauges placed in wells with chrome trim. There is also a small on-board computer; it does not provide much information, but it does provide the most important information.

At the top we see a folding 7-inch display of the multimedia system. This pleasure can be installed additionally for 45,000 rubles and plus you will get navigation. Below there are two round deflectors, and between them there is a clock made in the same style. Afterwards we see the audio system control unit. Even lower is the control unit for separate climate control; it has two small displays, one large washer and two small ones.

The tunnel has a large gear selector, the base of which is covered in leather. There is also a mechanical handbrake, and to the right of it there is a cigarette lighter and a number of buttons for various functions.

The trunk, considering the class of the car, is not bad, its volume is 321 liters, and at the same time you can fold the seats and get 639 liters. And since you won’t be able to seat anyone in the back, it’s better to fold them up and not use them at all.

Price

Now this car can only be purchased on the secondary market, since production has been discontinued. On average, a model in good condition costs 1,000,000 rubles. There is only one configuration, and few options are offered. Here is a list of interesting things in full equipment:
