Where in Europe it is warm in winter: list of countries, description and photos. In Europe in November - ideal weather for excursions Warm European countries in November

Text: Elena Chernyavskaya

Russian autumn can be wonderful- with warm days of Indian summer, golden leaves, the aroma of late apples in the garden and the strong smell of mushrooms in the forest. But sometimes it happens that cold, fine rain falls continuously, the sun does not appear from behind the clouds for weeks, and it is so cold that there is no desire to go outside. This is where the idea comes to go, at least for a while, somewhere where autumn is pleasant and sunny, and it doesn’t rain every day. The good news is that you don’t have to fly to the tropics for this - there are such places nearby, including in Europe. Not all of them are in the Mediterranean; there are other options.

Generally speaking, you still need to look for a warm and dry autumn closer to the south. Autumn in Scandinavia is incredibly beautiful, but the weather here is the same as in Russia: depending on your luck, it most often rains at this time, and in November the first snow may appear. European countries with temperate climate They remain warm until the end of September, then over most of them it begins to rain, usually daily. But in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean the weather is uneven: it is warm almost everywhere until November, but in many cities up to fifty percent of the annual precipitation falls in one autumn month - however, there are exceptions to the rules.

Limassol

The sunniest option. It's not just warm here in September - it's hot here and the beach season continues. The sun at this time is softer than in summer - it’s harder to get sunburnt, and you can swim as much as you like to your heart’s content. In September there are hot days and warm evenings. At the end of October, the water and air temperatures drop, but some people swim until November; fortunately, both October and November are usually not cold (even at the end of November it can be quite comfortable outside in a light sweater or windbreaker).

People often go to Limassol for a beach holiday, but in the fall, when the heat subsides, you don’t have to limit yourself to it: at this time it is especially pleasant to wander for a long time around the old part of the city, where it is incredibly hot in the summer, or you can take one of the official routes for travelers. There are many of them around Limassol: there are natural ones through mountains and forests, there are wine routes through vineyards, there are sports, cultural and architectural routes - all very picturesque. You can also take part in the wine festival, the largest on the island - it takes place in early September.

Thessaloniki

The Greek city of Thessaloniki is also warm in the fall, and you can swim here until October. Sunny but not hot weather makes it possible to take a good look at the many sights of the city, and there really are a lot of them.

Thessaloniki was founded in the fourth century BC, so there are monuments from all eras of the last two and a half thousand years - Roman ruins, medieval walls, palaces of the nobility of later times - but in the List of objects world heritage UNESCO included monuments from the early Christian and Byzantine eras. These are the gates, the monastery, as well as cathedrals, basilicas and churches, built between the fourth and fourteenth centuries. Many of them are amazingly preserved - right down to the frescoes - and are still working. Buildings are scattered around large area, the city is very hilly, so, perhaps, it is much more convenient to see it in the fall than in the summer - it is not so hot.

In addition, it is pleasant: ancient churches entwined with grapes, narrow streets filled with ripe chestnuts - the old quarters are unusually beautiful at this time. In autumn, Thessaloniki hosts many festivals associated with the harvest: at this time, grapes, pomegranates ripen here, and by November - olives. You can also get acquainted with seasonal local cuisine without paying twice as much for it as in the summer, which is also nice.

Barcelona

Here in September the summer heat disappears, but it is quite hot, and the sea has not yet cooled down. You can sunbathe, swim too - the water is very pleasant. An additional joy is that you can travel through the surrounding natural parks: at this time the leaves turn yellow and the forest-covered mountains acquire a special beauty. And it’s worth looking at Barcelona itself “in gold” - framed by autumn, Gaudi’s masterpieces seem to become even brighter.

There are many attractions in Barcelona and in addition to the works of the most famous local architect included in the UNESCO World Heritage List: monasteries, palaces and churches, there are also several excellent museums, of which the Picasso Museum is perhaps the most impressive. Barcelona cannot be called a cheap city, and the high season here ends late - at the end of October, but in October the city still has lower prices and fewer tourists than in summer. At this time, you can see how the locals really live, experience their leisurely rhythm of life, and wandering the streets without the dense summer crowd is a different story.

Plovdiv

Bulgarian Plovdiv also acquires additional expressiveness in the fall. This is one of the oldest cities in Europe; there are remains of Roman buildings (including a theater, forum and stadium), medieval streets, and ancient churches. It is colder here than in the Mediterranean, but it is clear, sunny and there is a real Golden autumn with piles of dazzling yellow leaves on the streets. A slight coolness only adds charm and adds vivacity.

In such weather, it’s good to get into the most picturesque part of the city - the one within the old city walls, on the hills, which during this season seems even more cozy than usual. Finding this place is very easy - it is a tangle of ancient alleys between the ethnographic museum and Tsar Boris III Boulevard. The streets here are filled with terraced houses of the 18th century, very bizarre: the buildings rise in strangely shaped steps above each other, two-hundred-year-old support beams protrude from everywhere, in some places there are paintings on the walls, and the streets are paved in a generally medieval way. Unlike fashionable Barcelona, in Plovdiv at this time prices, already low, are greatly reduced, and space is added, which is already not in short supply - hotels and restaurants are half empty.

Budapest

If you want to go not to the sea, but somewhere deeper, then you can choose Budapest. The Hungarian capital is famous historical monuments along the banks of the Danube, and in its center, it seems, all architectural styles are collected at once. It is noteworthy that this does not make the city chaotic: it easily combines the severity of Gothic, the grace of Baroque, and imperial splendor. The nicest area is around Buda Castle with its crooked medieval streets and houses that are four hundred years old, but there is a lot to see in Budapest beyond that. The city is colorful and unique, and it is also very well (even unexpectedly well) preserved.

Budapest has a long, dry autumn with sunny days and pleasantly cool evenings. September here is similar to Russian August - soft sun and an abundance of fruits. In September, golden autumn begins here and the high season ends. So, it will be especially pleasant to spend the day in one of the parks on the banks of the Danube, admiring the river banks painted in all shades of green, yellow and red. In the fall, Budapest hosts many large city events, and all of them have a variety of food options: a foie gras festival (yes, it is made not only in France, and this delicacy is much cheaper here), a chocolate festival, wine and cheese festivals, and for those who want to eat tokay -tours.

Prague

Prague is rarely chosen for autumn tourism, but in vain - this season here is much drier than in Russia. It’s usually not hot here, but quite comfortable in a light jacket, nature pleases with a clear sky, the local cuisine is simply created for cooler weather, and you’ve probably already heard about the abundance of attractions in this city. Founded in the 8th century, Prague is superbly preserved: the medieval center, the famous Vysehrad fortress, even more famous bridges - and a mass of individual buildings of all existing architectural styles or combining several styles at once (this often happens here), which make the city completely incomparable similar.

Fans of medieval architecture will find a lot of interesting things, but the matter is not limited to antiquities. Sometimes Prague is called “the Art Deco museum under open air", and this is the honest truth: buildings late XIX- there are also a lot of early 20th century buildings in the center, each one is unique, and it’s impossible to describe what it looks like in combination with everything else. There are a lot of trees in the city, and October is incredibly good here: warm, clear, and at this time of year Prague is truly golden. Additionally, September and October are big music festival season here; prices drop by the beginning of October, which is also encouraging.

Reims

Reims is noticeably cooler, but the sky here is so blue, the leaves are so fiery, and the grapes are so amazing that some are ready to put up with the weather. The “high season” here lasts a long time - until November, as in Bordeaux: as soon as summer tourism ends, wine tourism begins, which is almost more popular. These are all regions that produce high-quality wine, there’s nothing you can do about it.

There are not very many attractions in Reims, but they are all so unusual, complex and interesting that you don’t notice it - to be honest, you can look at the Reims Cathedral alone for a couple of days. The Coronation Cathedral of the French monarchs is covered with intricate bas-reliefs, gargoyles, sculptures and carvings, and is decorated with the famous Laughing Angel - a small but completely unique sculpture on the facade, a symbol of Champagne.

There are no big festivals in Champagne in the fall (the city is busy with wine and the wine trade), but there are a lot of wine events: holidays, tastings, etc. A special thing is autumn in the vineyards: here and late varieties grapes (the sweetest), and stunning colors, and impossible smells, and the autumn menu in restaurants - the local seasonal cuisine is excellent, and I have not seen grapes in such quantity and quality anywhere, even in countries much more southern.

An article in case of uncontrollable impulses to run to the sea in last month autumn. Where to fly to warm weather without a visa and where is the most budget-friendly beach holiday in November?

Probably, the weather in November has a slightly depressing effect on everyone - half-fall, half-winter, half-sleet, half-snow and a general excess of greyness.

Where do we look for cheap tours?

We suggest expanding the search for heat abroad! All profitable options for a seaside holiday in November 2019 are collected on services for selecting and booking tours online:

The latter is our favorite for last-minute travel packages, especially if the vacation came unexpectedly. But others often have promotions.

Where to go to the sea in November?

So, where are we planning to swim, sunbathe, sip on a cocktail, and then surf or snorkel? There are plenty of countries for a beach holiday. At the beginning of November, of course, there is a chance to bask somewhere in nearby Turkey, but it is very slim.

Therefore, it will take a long time to fly after the sun. But I am glad that in some areas it is quite budget.

  • In autumn, there is an opportunity to have an inexpensive holiday at sea on the coasts of India, Sri Lanka, and Egypt.

Beach holiday in November with schoolchildren, of course, is relevant during the holidays, and long-distance flights are unlikely to be suitable.

  • Israel and the UAE are great places for a week-long trip. The warm sea, palm trees, sand and delicious Middle Eastern cuisine will satisfy everyone involved.

Our trip to Jerusalem and Dubai

Where to go in November to swim and relax so that Instagram will be full of luxury geotags are also not a question.

  • The Maldives, a luxury resort that threatens to disappear under the ocean in half a century, opens its mass tourism season at the end of the month.
  • Prices for tours to Thailand, China, Vietnam are still pleasant in the off-season, as are the relatively empty beaches.

Where is better on the other side of the ocean?

  • Cuba, which many associate exclusively with rum, cigars and communist sentiments, will be even more interesting than the Dominican Republic.

Well, for those who are forced to decide where to go to the sea in November 2019 right here and now, we advise you to go to the tab! With them, and at popular resorts, you can organize an inexpensive vacation literally the next day.

Where to go to the sea without a visa?

It would be useful to find out where to go to the seaside in November without a visa!

In 2019, you can travel from Russia, among which there are some suitable for beach tourism in the cold season.

An insert in your passport is not required for travel to: the UAE, Israel, Thailand, Vietnam, Dominican Republic, the Philippines, Bali, Cuba, Fiji, Mauritius, Maldives.

In November, Russians can fly to the sea using a simplified visa system to Egypt, India (including Goa), Sri Lanka, and Jordan. Here the visa is issued upon arrival at the airport.

Tel Aviv embankment

Prices for trips to Israel in November 2019 are an order of magnitude lower than a few months earlier, as the time for cool winds is approaching.

  • On average, a trip from a tour operator with a flight from Moscow for 7 nights to a 3-star hotel with breakfast will cost from 70,000 rubles for two.

At this time, it is comfortable to stay on the Mediterranean coast - in Tel Aviv, but, alas, without swimming, the weather stays at +16°C...+22°C. But you can completely devote yourself to the cultural and educational program along the ancient streets of the Jaffa region, colorful local bazaars (the Carmel market captivated us both gastronomically and aesthetically), the long promenade along the sea and tall shopping centers.

IN the Velvet season Pilgrimage tours to Israel are also becoming especially popular – it’s definitely worth setting aside a few days to visit Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

Going to the Dead Sea in November is a good idea, but prepare for swimming in hot springs and mud-and-salt spa treatments exclusively inside the hotel. The temperature in the sea itself at this time of year is already 18-19 degrees. Although we ignored this fact, thinking that it would be stupid not to take advantage of the chance to drift on the surface of the water and take a couple of classic photos with a newspaper. Cool, yes. The heated hotel pool is much better.

Our tips for traveling to Israel

Eilat

The weather in Israel deteriorates towards the beginning of winter, and rain is possible in some areas, but the resort of Eilat, located in the south, is not threatened. The Red Sea in Israel in November does not get colder than +22°C; usually the water temperature stays at +24°C. The air temperature can rise to +27°C, but more often it pleases with a comfortable +23°C…+24°C.

UAE in 2019

Our trip to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (Abu Dhabi) - one
one of the most popular excursions in Dubai

The United Arab Emirates at the end of autumn is an ideal place to relax: there is no sweltering summer heat, and there are still two months left before the start of the rainy season. In this case, you can stay in Thailand for up to 30 days.

Phuket in November

We rented bikes - 150 baht/day (after riding for several hours and getting severe burns on my legs, I had to buy pants at a local second-hand store)

The weather in Thailand is conducive to year-round holidays; in different months you can choose a suitable place where rain will not bother you and the air temperature will remain stable. The best beach holiday in November in Thailand is offered on the popular island of Phuket. At this time the water warms up to +28°C, and in the air – all of +30°C. Although you can choose Pattaya as an alternative - it is also sunny there.

Secondly, don’t miss the chance to see Singapore for only 2000 rubles. You can spend 4 days in this space country without a visa, which under normal conditions is not so easy to obtain. What we did was buy a ticket to Phuket for 10 days, and in the middle of the holiday we flew to Singapore, returning to the island via Kuala Lumpur (one of the conditions for transit in Singapore is flying to a third country). It was great, and there were a lot of impressions. 🙂

Weather in Vietnam - in its southern regions(Phu Quoc, Mui Ne, Phan Thiet) - quite stable, but monsoons arrive on the coast from May to October. And November just opens a favorable time for travel.

Although if you are used to a noisy and fun holiday, Nha Trang is suitable: free beaches with white sand, windsurfing and diving, a string of cafes and restaurants, in short, the hospitable Vietnamese will make the trip eventful! Tours to Goa are the most affordable thanks to affordable prices, favorable weather conditions and regular flights from Moscow. Although this state of India is one of the sparsely populated, pilgrimage of tourists from different countries makes it no longer as secluded as it was 10-15 years ago.

In November, North Goa will welcome lovers of entertainment and vivid emotions - but! – unpretentious in everyday life and accustomed to saving on everyday expenses. The northern part is a kind of “mecca” for hippies, which the legendary Beatles and other musicians once loved to visit. But southern Goa is already cleaner, with normal hotels and a contingent consisting of children with children and pensioners.

  • Prices for tours to Goa in November start from 60,000 rubles for two.

South Goa

Beach holidays in November in Goa are possible along the entire coast. However, if you prefer hotels from 4* and relaxing holiday, then we recommend southern Goa.

The weather is stable, the water in the Arabian Sea remains at +28°C…+29°C all year round. Expensive restaurants, their corresponding audience, snow-white sand dunes, azure waves, sun loungers and umbrellas - a classic picture of a beach resort.

  • Therefore, in comparison with other areas, a trip to South Goa will cost more - from 67,000 rubles for 7 nights.

Holidays in China

We haven’t been to China itself, we spent 3 days in Hong Kong

China in November is, of course, a diverse concept. In most areas the weather is truly autumnal, but the closer you go to the south, the brighter and hotter the sun shines. And if in Beijing it gets frosty at the end, then in Guangzhou and Hong Kong the temperature is still under 20 degrees Celsius.

Beach holidays in China in November mainly flare up at its main resort - Hainan Island. Here the water warms up to +26°C, and the air – up to +27°C. So, in contrast to the mainland part of the country, Hainan in November 2019 will greet you with a truly summer atmosphere.

Hainan

Package tours from Russia to China are currently suspended.

In the tourist center of the island, Sanya County, the rainy season ends in early November and comfortable and windless weather sets in.

One of the options for a luxury trip abroad without a visa in November is the Maldives.

At this time, the period of flowering of exotic plants begins - from cold autumn Russia you find yourself in a fragrant paradise.

This weather is not suitable for surfers, but diving fans will enjoy the magical world of the ocean: coral reefs and inhabitants of the depths. An absolutely serene holiday on island resorts in luxurious bungalows standing right on the water will appeal to newlyweds, families with children, and everyone tired of the busy pace of life and socializing.

Egypt

Egypt in November has always been a classic in itineraries for a beach holiday. However, the suspension of regular and charter flights from Moscow and other cities of the Russian Federation also affected the supply of tour packages. For now, you can only purchase a tour to Egypt from TezTour. But such an idea is not very convenient - arrival at Cairo airport and then an 8-hour bus transfer.

So, if you still want to take pictures with the sphinxes and pyramids in the background and explore the colorful underwater world of the Red Sea, it’s easier to buy tickets and book a hotel yourself. The visa still does not require advance registration: you will get a stamp in your passport at the airport for $20.

Another country that will plunge into the holiday atmosphere at the end of autumn is America. And we are, of course, talking about Thanksgiving, which will take place on November 28th. Anyone who's seen a Hollywood movie (that's pretty much everyone) knows that this is the best time to eat turkey and pumpkin pie.

The holiday will be celebrated throughout the country, but the most important celebration, on November 1 and 2, a very bright holiday takes place throughout Mexico - the Day of the Dead. Despite the fact that the occasion is not the most joyful (honoring the dead), Mexicans manage to celebrate it with their characteristic joy. It is interesting in November in Plovdiv, the second largest city in Bulgaria. In 2019 it takes on the rotating status of European Capital of Culture. Therefore, various events and exhibitions will be held here throughout the month.

November is traditionally considered the month of the “low season,” and quite undeservedly. Firstly, children are on school holidays, an excellent occasion for joint trips the whole family. Secondly, when enough time has passed after the summer vacation, winter and slush are already setting in, and the New Year holidays are still far away - it’s time to at least briefly change the situation, recharge solar heat, vitamins and fresh impressions. At the same time, airlines usually offer their best prices in November, and hotels, restaurants and museums offer a variety of discounts and special programs.

Beach resorts

In many European countries in November the weather is not particularly different from Russian - and is not conducive to sunbathing. In November, the velvet season begins, when the sweltering heat is replaced by warm sunny days, and the calm sea is conducive to a pleasant holiday.

The choice of destinations for traveling to warmer climates in November is truly great. It can be, or - each country is unique in its own way, and each can offer excellent weather, magnificent beaches, a rich excursion program and developed infrastructure.

Festivals and holidays

An excursion holiday, which is possible in almost any European country in November, can be combined with an entertainment trip. In autumn, many interesting and colorful festivals take place around the world. Traveling to Europe was already an expensive pleasure, and given the new economic conditions, vacations in the main European capitals have become an almost unaffordable luxury.

Fortunately, in addition to expensive London, Paris and Rome, there are cheaper European cities, so there is still an opportunity to see Europe without going broke, you just need to carefully plan your trip and choose a direction. To make things easier for you, we've put together a list of 10 interesting and inexpensive cities in Europe where a weekend won't leave a hole in your budget.

1. Krakow

It is surprising that Krakow, one of the most beautiful and at the same time the cheapest cities in Europe, has not yet been appreciated by tourists. Krakow was the capital of Poland until the end of the 16th century, but even after losing this status it always remained the main cultural and scientific center of the country. Fortunately, unlike Warsaw, the city was practically not damaged during World War II, so many ancient buildings have been preserved here (there are thirty-nine churches alone), the medieval Jagiellonian University and a huge royal castle from the 13th century.

2. Budapest

Despite the fact that the popularity of the Hungarian capital last years has grown significantly, prices here are still relatively low. If you choose a hotel not in the very center and use public transport, you can enjoy views of the Danube and classical architecture while staying within a modest budget. Be sure to visit one of Budapest's famous thermal baths, cross the river on the Chain Bridge and stroll through the Buda Castle and Fisherman's Bastion.

3. Lisbon

Even by European standards, there are a lot of attractions in Lisbon and its surroundings - castles, palaces and basilicas, and the decent cost of air travel to the Portuguese capital is more than offset by cheap hotels, restaurants and shops. If you plan to travel around the city a lot by public transport or use the funiculars (including the famous city elevator of Santa Justa), be sure to buy a Viva Viagem travel system, this will allow you to save even more.

4. Prague

Prague has won the love of tourists from all over the world thanks to two factors: cheap Czech pubs and a beautiful historical center. In terms of attractiveness and richness of cultural monuments, Prague is hardly inferior to the main Western European capitals, and a trip here will cost you much less than to Paris or Amsterdam. The only negative is that there are a lot of tourists in Prague during the high season, so choose the less popular months, since this city is beautiful at any time of the year.

5. Istanbul

One of the oldest cities in the world, Istanbul is considered a must-visit destination for every history buff. Mosques, bazaars and amazing views The Bosphorus Strait will not leave even the most experienced travelers indifferent. Today, Istanbul captivates not only with its rich cultural heritage, but also with its low prices, which, alas, fall in inverse proportion to the level of safety in the city.

6. Athens

Athens is an ideal city for a weekend - there are enough attractions here for just two days of leisurely exploration. You should set aside one full day to explore the Parthenon and the Acropolis, you will need at least half a day to visit the luxurious archaeological museum of Athens, and if you still have time, check out the Monastiraki area - see the mosque and wander around the market. Despite the fact that Athens is one of the most expensive cities on our list, by European standards it is still a very cheap place, especially if you go there out of season, but in late autumn or even winter.

7. Split

Split is a less touristy copy of Dubrovnik: the same red roofs, white walls and views of the bay. The city is much cheaper and is located in Dalmatia, which is famous for its excellent beaches, so you can combine a visit to Split with beach holiday nearby. Split, of course, does not have a grand city wall like Dubrovnik, but it does have the ancient Roman palace of Emperor Diocletian, which is considered the best-preserved Roman-era palace in the world.

8. Berlin

Despite the fact that Berlin is the capital of one of the richest countries in the eurozone, prices here remain relatively low. Of course, compared to cities of Eastern Europe the cost of a night in hotels and hostels in Berlin is not so attractive, but due to the popularity of the destination and large quantity flights, tickets to Berlin can be bought quite inexpensively (especially if you take care of purchasing a few months before the trip).

9. Riga

If you have not yet been to Riga, try to correct this annoying mistake as soon as possible - after the transition to the euro, prices in this city are constantly rising. The historical center of Riga fully corresponds to the concept of a classic European city - open cafes, pretty squares, surrounded by ancient buildings with tiled roofs, paved sidewalks. Well, the advantages of a holiday in Riga for Russians are obvious: geographical proximity and the absence of a language barrier.

10. Ljubljana

Gradually, from a place that no one can find on the map, Ljubljana is turning into one of the most popular cities in Europe. It has everything you need for a classic European weekend: a beautiful historical center, good restaurants, architectural monuments, including a large, well-preserved medieval castle. We strongly recommend going to the capital of Slovenia before it begins to attract crowds of tourists and hotel prices do not jump to the average European level.
