Rinz - Russian Science Citation Index. Rinz - Russian Science Citation Index What is the Rinz core

The largest electronic library of scientific publications in Russia, with rich capabilities for searching and obtaining information. The library is integrated with the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI), a publicly accessible tool for measuring and analyzing the publication activity of scientists and organizations. eLIBRARY.RU and RSCI are developed and supported by the Scientific Electronic Library company.

SCIENTIFIC ELECTRONIC LIBRARY

Today, eLIBRARY.RU subscribers have access to full-text versions of about 4,000 foreign and 3,900 domestic scientific journals, abstracts of publications in almost 20 thousand journals, as well as descriptions of one and a half million foreign and Russian dissertations. Over 2,800 Russian scientific journals are available in free open access. To access other publications, you can subscribe or order individual publications.

eLIBRARY.RU is the developer of the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) - a system for assessing the performance of both scientific organizations as a whole and individual authors based on bibliometric indicators - citation index and impact factor.

RUSSIAN SCIENCE QUOTATION INDEX

The Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) is a national information analytical system, which accumulates more than 6 million publications by Russian authors, as well as information on citations of these publications from more than 4,500 Russian journals. It is intended not only for operational support scientific research relevant reference and bibliographic information, but it is also a powerful tool that allows you to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the activities of research organizations, scientists, the level of scientific journals, etc.

The system is based on a bibliographic abstract database, which indexes articles in Russian scientific journals. In recent years, the RSCI has also begun to include other types of scientific publications: conference reports, monographs, teaching aids, patents, dissertations. The database contains information about imprints, authors of publications, places of their work, keywords and subject areas, as well as abstracts and bibliography. In addition, out of 4,500 journals processed by the RSCI, more than 3,900 are presented in full text on the eLIBRARY.RU platform, including 2,800 journals in open access, which in most cases allows you to familiarize yourself with the text of the publication being evaluated.

SCIENCE INDEX

An information and analytical system, SCIENCE INDEX, is being created on the basis of the RSCI. This system is primarily designed for scientific organizations that receive a whole set of tools for managing the list of their publications and analyzing it, including the ability to add publications that are not in the RSCI, not only articles in scientific journals, but also other types of scientific publications. Since the launch of this system at the end of 2012, more than 670 Russian scientific organizations have already connected to this service.

In 2014, the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU entered into an agreement with Thomson Reuters to place the 1000 best Russian scientific journals from the RSCI on the Web of Science platform in the form of a separate Russian Science Citation Index database. This project will significantly improve the visibility and citation of Russian journals in the international information space and will help improve their quality by bringing them to international standards.

REGISTRATION IN ELIBRARY.RU AND THE SCIENCE INDEX SYSTEM

User registration in Scientific electronic library is a necessary condition for gaining access to the full texts of publications posted on the eLIBRARY.RU platform.

In the registration form you must indicate, in particular, the login and password that you will use to enter the library. In the future, you will be able to log into the library from any computer connected to the Internet using the username and password you specified. In this case, all your settings (personal collections of magazines, articles, saved search queries, personal navigator settings, personal statistics, etc.) will be restored.

Registered users also have the opportunity to create personal collections of magazines and articles, save the history of search queries, customize the navigator panel, etc.

To work with the author's profile in the system SCIENCE INDEX You also need to register first, but as an author. Author registration in SCIENCE INDEX is combined with user registration on the portal of the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU. To register with SCIENCE INDEX you just need to fill out a few additional fields.

Also, when registering with SCIENCE INDEX, you can additionally indicate the international identifiers of the scientist:

If you are already registered on the eLIBRARY.RU portal and want to register as an author in the SCIENCE INDEX system, you must first log into the library under your username, and then go to your personal card. You can do this by going to the section Personal profile, Further Personal card, or simply by clicking on the username in the panel SESSION left. In the registration form that opens, some of the fields will already be filled in. You need to check and, if necessary, edit these fields, then check the box “Register me in the SCIENCE INDEX system” and fill in the remaining fields in the additional part of the form that opens below.

When filling out the registration form, you must pay attention to the following important points:

1. When specifying an organization - place of work, it is very important that the organization is selected from the standard list of the database, and not entered manually. This will greatly simplify the further identification of your publications. Search for your organization using different parts of its name. Most likely, it is already among more than 12,000 scientific organizations registered with the RSCI.

2. If you work or have worked previously in several organizations and indicated these organizations in your publications, fill out the field with an additional list of your organizations at the end of the registration form. If you have changed your main place of work, do not forget to include your previous organization in this additional list.

3. When registering, you must select a unique username to log into the library and indicate your personal, unique and valid email address. If you register as an author in the SCIENCE INDEX system, then a letter with a registration confirmation code will be sent to this address. After receiving this letter, you will need to follow the link provided in the text of the letter. If you do not receive this letter, you will not be able to complete the author registration procedure in the SCIENCE INDEX system.

4. It is also recommended to indicate an additional email address when registering, preferably from another Internet provider. This will allow us to contact you if the main address is unavailable, for example, if the SPAM filter of the mail server blocks the message from the system. This address does not have to be unique. However, it is necessary to keep in mind that all confidential information, for example, your registration data in case of password recovery, will be sent only to the main email address. Therefore, if in the future this address becomes unavailable for some reason, log into your registration card and replace it with a new one.

5. If, when filling out the registration form, the system detects that you have already been registered before, but you cannot remember your username and/or password, you should try to use the access recovery procedure. In this case, a letter with your registration data will be sent to the email address you specified during registration. If this address is no longer available, you need to contact the RSCI support service to restore access.

6. At the end of the registration form there is a field for entering your last name on English language. Indicate in this field your last name in the spelling that you used in your foreign publications. You can specify multiple options separated by commas. This will help identify your foreign publications.

7. The password to enter the library must be changed at least once a year. It is also recommended to update the data in the registration form if you change your place of work, position, academic degree and other data.

After filling out the registration form, select the operation Save changes in the panel Possible actions on right. If, when checking your registration form on the server, filling errors are detected, you will be given a corresponding message and the form will be returned for revision. In this case, detected errors will be listed at the beginning of the registration form and highlighted in red. Correct them and click the link again Save changes. If there are no errors, you will be notified of successful registration and an email with registration data will be automatically sent to your primary email address. Save it - this email will help you if you forget your username and/or password. If you registered as an author in the SCIENCE INDEX system, then in the same letter you will be sent a registration confirmation code in the form of a link that you simply need to follow when you receive the letter.

If for some reason you did not receive an email with a confirmation code, you can resend it to your email address. To do this, log into the library under your user name, then into your personal card and there select the operation Resend a letter with a registration confirmation code in the Possible Actions panel. You can change your primary email address if the address specified on the card is not working.

If you registered only as a user of the Scientific Electronic Library, then immediately after confirmation of registration you get access to your personal profile and can work on the eLIBRARY.RU portal, including downloading full-text information.

If you registered as an author in the SCIENCE INDEX system, then after successful confirmation of registration, your application form is submitted for review to the RSCI support service, where, firstly, you are identified as an author in the Russian Science Citation Index, and secondly, a global search is carried out throughout the entire RSCI database of your publications and citations, and then generating and checking your list of publications and citations. After completing these operations, which may take up to ten working days, depending on the workload of the support service operators, a letter will be sent to your email addresses informing you that you have been assigned a personal author identification code ( SPIN code) in the SCIENCE INDEX system. From the moment you are assigned a SPIN code, you automatically have access to new services that the SCIENCE INDEX system provides for authors of scientific publications.

The Scientific Electronic Library reserves the right to deny a user access to services for authors in the SCIENCE INDEX system at any time without explanation, including at the author registration stage, if attempts are detected to intentionally provide false information or unfair use of the system’s capabilities.

WORKING WITH THE LIST OF AUTHOR'S PUBLICATIONS

After registering the author in the SCIENCE INDEX system and assigning him a personal identification code of the author (SPIN code) in the section " FOR AUTHORS" (link in the top navigation bar of the eLIBRARY.RU portal) a link appears to " Author's personal profile", where all the tools and services intended for authors of scientific publications are collected. To view the list of your publications, you can follow the link " My publications" in this section. You can also get to the list of your publications through " Author index"or simply by clicking on the author's last name on any page of the RSCI, where this last name is highlighted as a link. The list of publications of each author is publicly available to all RSCI users, however, on the page with the list of his publications, a registered author has opportunities to clarify this list, which are not available for other users.

In addition to publications that have a full bibliographic description in the RSCI, on this page you can view publications of a given author that can be extracted from the reference lists. Including these publications in the list of the author’s works allows us to get a more complete picture of the author’s publication activity, since in this case the list also includes those publications that are not in the RSCI. The RSCI began to systematically process Russian journals only in 2006, and journal issues for previous years are still poorly represented. At the same time, these publications are referenced in current issues of the journals being processed, and this information can be used to group references and identify the authors of cited publications.

Of course, there are more inaccuracies in the descriptions of such publications than in articles from the journals being processed, since there are quite a lot of errors in the reference lists, and the references themselves often contain a minimum of information that does not allow one to unambiguously identify the cited publication. Therefore, sometimes the same publication may be shown twice in the list of author's publications (for example, if different links to this publication indicate different pages). When working with a list of author's publications, you can choose whether to show publications extracted from reference lists or not. In the list of the author's works, these publications are highlighted with a special icon (see the legend with the icons used on the left).

Also on this page you can choose whether or not to show in the displayed list publications of namesake authors who are not identified as the works of this author (not linked to him), although they could potentially be included in the list of his works. You can also separately display a list of only such unlinked publications, which is very convenient for finding your publications and including them in the list of your works. The serial number of these publications in the list is highlighted in red.

It is best to start adjusting the list of your publications by carefully reviewing the entire list in order to determine whether the publications of your namesakes were accidentally included there, that is, whether all the publications on the list are really yours. If you find a publication by another author incorrectly included in your list, you can independently remove this work from your list. To do this, select it in the list and select the operation "" in the " panel Tools" on the right. Be careful, when you delete a publication, it no longer appears not only in the list of your works, but also in your list of unlinked publications.

When deleting or adding publications, you can select several publications at once, and these can be both publications that have a bibliographic description in the RSCI, and publications extracted from reference lists, but this can only be done within one page of the displayed list of publications. If the list is large and takes up several pages, then these operations must be performed separately on each page.

Next, you can view the list of publications of your namesakes, which may include your publications. To do this, set the mode " Show only unlinked posts that may belong to this author". Once you find your publications in this list, select them and select the operation " Add selected publications to the list of author's works"in panel" Tools" on the right. Publications of which you are definitely not the author can be removed from the list of unlinked publications in the same way as for works erroneously linked to you, i.e. by highlighting them and selecting " Remove selected publications from the author's list of works". This allows you to clear the list of unlinked publications shown to you from other people's publications. This is especially convenient if you have a common surname. By periodically clearing this list, the next time you work in the system you will see only new publications that have appeared in the database, and you you will not need to look through a large list every time in search of your own publications.

If there are a lot of publications in the list, to search for your (or not your) publications, it is convenient to use the ability to select publications by parameters such as topic, journal, organization, co-author or year. The distribution of publications in the displayed list according to these parameters is presented at the top of the search form. Next to each parameter value, the number of publications is indicated in parentheses. For example, by viewing a list of journals, you can easily find and select a journal in which you have never published, and display only articles from that journal, and then remove them from your list of publications. And vice versa, by viewing publications not associated with you in display mode, for example, a list of co-authors, you can easily find your colleagues, display a list of works done in collaboration with them, and then add these works to the list of your publications.

When adding publications to the list of your publications, in some cases the system does not allow you to do this automatically. This usually happens if there is doubt about the correct attribution of a given publication to a given author, for example, if the last name or initials of the authors are different, or if the article is already associated with another namesake author. In this case, requests to add articles are submitted for manual review to the RSCI support service. To view the list of publications that are awaiting a decision to include them in your list of publications, you can select the " Show publications awaiting confirmation of inclusion in the author's list of works".

Articles published in Russian translation journals deserve special mention. In the RSCI, articles published in the Russian version of the journal and in the translated English version are stored separately, but are displayed in the list of the author’s works as grouped publications. If the author has the same publication in the original and translated versions of the journal, then such publications are considered one. The same mechanism for merging versions also applies to reprints of books. On the author's publications page, it is possible to show the entire list of publications; to do this, in the parameters you need to uncheck the box next to " combine original and translated versions of articles and reprints of books".

SEARCH FOR AUTHOR PUBLICATIONS

A situation is possible when a publication is in the RSCI database, but is not offered in the list of possible publications of a given author. Most often this happens due to different transliteration options for the author’s surname and initials in his foreign publications. In this case, you will not be able to link this publication on the page with a list of the author’s publications. However, registered authors may do so on the bibliography page for this publication.

You can find such publications in any way available on the eLIBRARY.RU portal. For example, if you know exactly which journal and issue your article was published in, you can view the table of contents of that issue by going there from the journal directory. However, the most effective method- use the main search form of the Scientific Electronic Library. You can go there by selecting " Search queries"in panel" Navigator" on the left. On the page for generating a search query, click on the button " Add" in field " Authors". In the additional window that opens, try to search for different spelling options for your last name in Russian and English. Add suitable options to the search form by clicking on the author's last name. Also add options in which only your first initial is indicated.

Having formed the request in this way, run it and view the results. On the search query results page, publications that are already included in the list of your works are marked with icons with a red asterisk in the right column, which shows the number of citations of the publications. If you find your publication in this list that is not included in the list of your works, go to the page with its bibliographic description and select the operation " Add publication to my work list"in panel" Tools".

If a publication is included in the list of your works, then on the page with its bibliographic description you can determine this by the presence of the mark " This publication is included in the list of my works", highlighted with a star icon, in the " panel Tools". Using the link from this icon you can go to the list of your publications.

WORKING WITH AN AUTHOR'S CITATION LIST

The author's number of citations is the same important indicator, as well as the number of his publications. A special interface has been developed to work with the list of author citations in the SCIENCE INDEX system. Using this interface, the author can not only display full list citations of his works, but also include links that the system could not automatically assign to him, or remove links that were attributed erroneously.

You can get to the page with a list of author citations by following the link " My citations" from " Author's personal profile"or from" Author's index"by clicking on the number of citations of the author. For each link shown in the list of citations, not only the text of the link itself is displayed, but also a brief bibliographic description of the publication - the source of this link. If the link cites a publication whose bibliographic description is available in the RSCI database, then at the end of the link text an icon with a red arrow is added, allowing you to go to the full bibliographic description of the cited publication.You can also go to the full bibliographic description of the citing publication by clicking on the text of the link source.

Just as in the list of publications of an author, in the list of his citations you can choose whether or not to show in the displayed list citations of publications of namesake authors that are not identified as publications of this author (not linked to him), although they could potentially be included in list of his works. You can choose a mode - show only (linked) links included in the author's citation list, show only unlinked links that may belong to this author, show linked and unlinked links in one list, or display links that are awaiting confirmation of inclusion in the author's citation list. In this case, just like in the list of publications, for unlinked links the serial number in the list is highlighted in red.

The algorithm for how an author works with a list of his citations is generally similar to the algorithm for working with a list of publications. First, you need to check whether other people’s publications are included in the author’s citation list. If such links are found, you need to select them in the list and select the operation " Remove selected links from the author's citation list"in panel" Tools". Then you need to look through the list of unlinked links and look there for links to your works. If any are found, select them in the list and select the operation " Add highlighted links to the author's citation list". All these operations must be carried out on each page of the list separately, since when moving to the next page, the marked links are not saved. This is done specifically to reduce the risk of accidentally deleting or adding links, since you can forget what was highlighted on previous pages of the list.

Also, as in the case of publications, not all references can be included in the author's list of citations immediately. Disputed links (for example, already linked to another author) are submitted for consideration to the RSCI support service. Until a decision is made, they appear in a separate list, which can be viewed by selecting the " Show links awaiting confirmation of inclusion in the author's citation list".

You can also remove other people's publications from the list of unlinked references, thus clearing this list and thereby simplifying the search for your citations when working with new publications received in the RSCI database. It should be noted that deleting publications or references from these lists also leads to the fact that they will not be considered, including when automatically processing and linking publications and citations to a given author in the RSCI. On the one hand, this is good, since in some cases someone else’s publication or link may be mistakenly included in the author’s list during automatic linking; on the other hand, this operation must be treated very carefully, since only the service can restore the link of a publication or link removed from the list RSCI support.

To simplify the search and identification of links, you can limit the displayed list using a set of search parameters at the top of the search form. Please note that some of the search parameters relate to the citing publication (in particular, the year of the citing publication, the subject of the citing article and the journal in which it was published), and some - to the cited one (year of the cited publication, co-authors). The numbers in parentheses next to each parameter value indicate the number of links corresponding to that value. You can also select links by searching for any word in the link text.

Accounting for author citations depends on the source of the citation. If a publication (citation source) contains multiple citations of the same author’s work, then such citations are counted as one. If a publication contains citations of two versions of an article (original and translated), then the citation of one of them is counted. If an author is cited from an article published in a translated journal, and both versions of the citing article are presented in the RSCI, then such citations from these two articles are counted as one. The entire list of citations can be viewed by unchecking " group duplicate links".

SEARCH FOR AUTHOR CITATIONS

Not all links that may relate to publications by a given author can be shown in the list of unlinked links on the page with a list of citations for that author. Links with errors in the author's surname or initials do not appear there (and there are quite a few of these in the lists of cited literature). In addition, links where the given author is not listed at all in the list of authors of the cited publication cannot be included there. This situation occurs quite often, since some journals limit the number of authors in the lists of cited literature, or even indicate only the first author of the publication. In order to find such references, you can use a special search form for references.

You can get to this search form from the section " Author's personal profile"by following the link" Search for citations in the RSCI". The search form allows you to carry out a global search across the entire array of references in the RSCI. In this case, as search parameters you can set any word from the text of the link or the author's last name. You can also limit the search to the range of years of the cited publication and/or the range of years of the citing publication. Output of results the search is carried out in the same form as on the page with a list of author citations, that is, not only the link itself is shown, but also the citing publication.

Use this search form to find links to your publications. One of possible options- search by the last name of the first author of your publication (the first author is always indicated in references, but the remaining co-authors may not be present). You can set a search throughout the entire text of the link in case the authors could not be correctly identified during automatic parsing of the link in the RSCI. If you are working as a registered author, then in the search results, links that are already included in your citation list will be highlighted using a red star icon located on the left in the column with the serial number of the link. If you were able to find links to your publications, select them in the list and select the operation " Add highlighted links to my citations list"in panel" Tools" on right.

IDENTIFICATION OF THE ORGANIZATION IN THE AUTHOR'S PUBLICATIONS

Another opportunity provided to registered authors in the SCIENCE INDEX system is the identification of organizations in their publications. This opportunity can be useful not only to you as an author, but also to the organization in which you work, since it improves its performance in the RSCI. Identification of scientific organizations indicated as the place of work of authors in publications is one of the most difficult tasks for the system of automatic processing of the incoming flow of information into the RSCI, since there are many options for writing the full or abbreviated name of the organization. In addition, this field often indicates various Additional information- division of the organization, address, position of the author, etc., which greatly complicates the task of isolating the name of the organization from this text. Therefore, not all publications in the RSCI can clearly identify the organization.

You can understand whether an organization has been identified or not and whether it has been done correctly on the page with the bibliographic description of the publication. If an organization is identified, then when you hover the mouse over its name in the list of authors and organizations of the publication, a tooltip appears with the name of the identified organization from the normative list of organizations in the RSCI. If there is no hint, the organization is not identified. In this case, the author whose affiliation is listed in this organization can help identify it. To do this you need to select the operation " Identify the organization indicated in the publication as my place of work"in panel" Tools". This operation is shown in the list possible actions only if the author's organization is not identified or missing in this publication. It is also possible that a publication has a list of authors and a list of organizations, but there is no correspondence between them.

Analysis of the author's publication activity ". You can get to this page from the section " Author's personal profile"and also from" Author's index" by clicking on the colored histogram icon. Each of the indicators presented on this page has a tooltip that appears when you hover the mouse over the question mark icon next to the name of the corresponding indicator. The tooltip provides additional information about how it is calculated or other indicator.

Author bibliometric indicators are calculated on a periodic basis. date last update appears in the page title. Registered authors have the ability to update these metrics themselves, not only for their own statistics, but also for any other author. Therefore, if you see by the update date of the indicators of a particular author that the data may be out of date, select the operation " Update Author Metrics"in panel" Tools".

Unlike bibliometric indicators, statistical distributions presented on the author’s publication activity analysis page always reflect Current state Database. When you select the desired statistical report, an additional window opens, where a chart is displayed with the distribution of publications by the selected parameter. If you click on a specific value of this parameter in this diagram, a list of publications corresponding to this value will open in the main window. For example, without closing the window with the diagram, you can view in the main window lists of the author’s works published in various journals or performed in various organizations.

Statistical distributions by subject, keywords, journals, organizations, co-authors and years are available for both the list of author's publications and the list of publications citing the author's work.

View a list of Web of Science articles that cite this "in panel" Tools" on right.

Similarly, if your organization subscribes to the Scopus database, then you can go to the list of articles citing a given publication in Scopus by selecting the appropriate link in the possible actions panel. In addition, even if you are not a Scopus subscriber, you can use this link to view the Scopus bibliographic description of this article and the two most recent citations for this publication.

The number of citations in Web of Science and Scopus is shown only for those journals that are processed in these databases. For articles published in Russian translated journals, the English version of which is processed in Web of Science or Scopus, a query is made and the result is displayed for the corresponding English version of the article, if such a match can be established.

The beginning of the “Russian Science Citation Index” project can be considered in 2005, when a Russian mechanism for assessing and analyzing scientific publications was developed on the site of the scientific electronic library. The goal of the project was to create an objective indicator of the citation rate of domestic scientists. The number of publications before the start of the Russian index that were included in international rankings was only 10 of all published ones.

What is RSCI

The Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) system is a domestic database of citations of fundamental, academic and applied research.

Currently, the database archive contains more than 12 million different publications; over 600 thousand scientists, researchers, and teachers are actively publishing their works.

11 thousand scientific organizations related to all branches of science are registered on the elibrary.ru platform. At least 3,000 new texts are added to the RSCI list every day.

The basis of the citation system is the indexing of all printed and electronic publications published in the specialized literature. Each publication of the RSCI list has an abstract index, which includes:

The RSCI system solves a number of important scientific problems:

  1. analyze and evaluate citations of domestic scientists, professors, and researchers;
  2. create a single complete list of scientific publications, an authoritative independent database;
  3. to create a multifunctional search system, a navigation system for articles, publications, and specialized magazines.

The Russian Citation Index is the main citation system in Russia today, which includes all information about various studies (monographs, methodological manuals, conference collections, articles, dissertations). The RSCI database is freely available. Official site.

The difference between the Higher Attestation Commission and the RSCI

Some people confuse the list of journals of the Higher Attestation Commission and the list of the Russian index, which is fundamentally wrong. Journalism included in the scientific database and the Higher Attestation Commission are two separate catalogues.
The scientific database register has been expanded to include the most authoritative periodicals in Russia.

The citation index itself is a tool that makes it possible to find out the level of periodicals, objective criteria of its importance and popularity (impact factor).

Every scientist or research organization strives for high citation rates in the RSCI, as an assessment of effectiveness.

But applicants for an academic degree need to publish their articles only in those journals that are approved by the Higher Attestation Commission.

The list of the certification commission is much smaller. A journal included in the Russian citation database is not automatically included in the Higher Attestation Commission.

RSCI impact factor

Impact factor (IF) is a quantitative indicator of the value of a journal, its importance and significance. There are different approaches to calculating the IF: in two, three, five previous years. Many organizations define the factor in their own developed ways.

The impact factor of Russian journals is determined using the classical method:

IF = a/b, where

a is the number of cited journal articles for the previous conditional period (2 or 5 years),
b – the number of all publications for the same conditional period.

The Russian Citation Index calculates two sets of IFs:

  • in the first, the factor for b is all links in all sources, including texts without clear authorship;
  • in the second IF, only original articles from domestic journals are taken to calculate b.

What is the RSCI core

In 2015, an agreement was concluded with Web of Science that a Russian database of cited articles would be hosted on their site. This includes the most successful domestic publications. The best journals, as well as individual articles included in the international database, form the Core of the Russian citation index.
The development stage assumed that the “core” would include the TOP 1000 domestic journals. This TOP is not static; every year, journals that meet a high level are selected.

Today the core consists of almost 700 copies of periodicals

The difference between the domestic and foreign citation index is that the foreign index counts only “its” publications, while the Russian science citation index has access to all information.
If a graduate student, young scientist or teacher needs an article not for “extras”, but for a serious argument in the defense of a candidate’s thesis or a deep immersion in science, then it is important to strive to publish the work in the TOP.

How to get to the RSCI

Registration in the electronic library RSCI elibrary ru will be required if necessary:

  1. gain access to all available materials in the electronic library;
  2. manage site navigation (save search history, customize the panel, etc.);
  3. create a personal selection of texts, publications, collections;
  4. Log in to the site, post the publication as its author.

To get into the search engine, you must first register as a user. This will make it possible to log in and access the entire RSCI database.

The Russian Science Citation Index can be used as an assessment tool after undergoing secondary registration, already as an author.

It will be possible to enter the database to use new services (publish or index your own article, calculate the index) no earlier than in a week (this is how long the process of checking your profile and confirming registration lasts).

Scientific journals RSCI

The electronic scientific library of the RSCI includes almost 7,000 titles. Of these on the elibrary site:

  • 5600 publications are presented in full,
  • 4800 journals have open free access.

The RSCI list is regularly updated and expanded.
There is an index on the site - “search for magazines”. Various parameters allow you to quickly find the publication you are looking for (Fig. 2).

Figure 2 – Catalog of journals included in the database

The RSCI list includes a variety of periodicals, which includes (Fig. 3):

  1. highly specialized (from astronomy to linguistics),
  2. multidisciplinary journals (technical, humanities or in all areas of science).

Figure 3 – Thematic list of journals

RSCI Conference

Since 2011, scientific conferences of the RSCI have been held, at which various aspects are studied scientific activity. On the official website you can find information about both past events and upcoming ones.

Some universities hold similar events, based on the results of which the most relevant materials, outstanding presentations, and conclusions are compiled into a general collection. The publisher of such collections strives to be indexed in the scientific citation database, but the publications do not always undergo strict verification.

Publishing the results of a conference of a university in the RSCI is a criterion of high quality

Publication in the RSCI collection allows young scientists to increase their citation index. That is why not only professionals and narrow specialists, but also university teachers and graduate students who are passionate about science strive to get into them.

E-library for authors

  • through regular user registration, after which fill out an additional form (personal profile);
  • through the publishing house or organization where the author works or teaches (Fig. 4).

Figure 4 – Registration in the RSCI

  1. Enter “manually” a complete abstract description of the published manuscript.
  2. Use a template indicating a link to an article already published on another site (if information about it is already in the database).
  3. Add an article using the DOI code (if the journal uses this identification method). The article search procedure, in this case, is automatic.

How to find out an author's citation index

Determining the number of cited articles is an important factor for a scientist. The RSCI citation index is calculated automatically by the electronic library server. How to find out the RSCI index:

  • through the search “My citations” in your personal profile,
  • through the “Author Index”, after filling out the full name column.

To find out your H-index or your colleague's H-index, follow the author search link. Enter your last name or other known search parameters. At the output, you will immediately be able to see information about the citation of the author.

Next to the citation status of publications there is a colored icon; by clicking on it you can get detailed detailed information.

SCIENCE INDEX system

In 2011, an analytical part was added to the general database - the SCIENCE INDEX system for organizations and publishing houses. The institution enters into an agreement, after which it can:

  1. add not only a new publication, but also monographs, results and conclusions of your own conferences, announcements of upcoming events at your institution;
  2. manage the entire set of tools necessary for analyzing and evaluating publications (both at the level of the organization and department, and at the level of the individual scientist);
  3. carry out the most detailed analysis and calculation of scientometric indicators (individual and complex);
  4. independent control over publication activity.

IN RSCI system Additional registration is required, which is only possible after a thorough check. If the publications of the author or publication are approved by the Higher Attestation Commission, then they will be able to do this without difficulty. A separate section in the personal user section contains the paragraph “register in the system as the author of publications” (Fig. 5).

When concluding a contract, a scientific organization specifies in the contract which of its employees will coordinate work with the citation index.

Author ID and SPIN code of the author

  • Author ID
  • SPIN code

An individual AuthorID is assigned to each registered author. This personal number allows you to identify a person in the database, take part in scientific events, apply for grants, and publish in specialized periodicals.

ID search:

  1. login to the author’s personal page,
  2. The ID indicator will be under the full name.

With the introduction of the SCIENCE INDEX system, it became possible to independently analyze publication activities (clarify lists, check publications, calculate the index).

This system requires additional registration, after which the author is assigned a SPIN code.

The SPIN code definition can also be found in the personal profile, where its publication activity is reflected.

The RSCI covers an impressive volume of scientific publications by domestic authors. All forecasts indicate that in the near future the RSCI database of the Russian Science Citation Index will only increase. An important difference from international systems The point is that you can register on the domestic platform for free and have access to almost the entire citation database. The main functions of the Russian parameter are the analysis and evaluation of publications by Russian scientists, as well as the source and search system of all specialized periodicals.

Dear employees of the East European Institute of Psychoanalysis, we have prepared material for you on various indicators that are used to assess the productivity of a scientist. We kindly ask you to familiarize yourself with it and take it into account in your scientific activities, as well as register on the website

Scientific Electronic Library!

If some of your publications are not in the RSCI database, then only a responsible representative of the organization (in our case, VEIP) can add them there, if he has such rights.

Next, if you have questions, you need to read the section RSCI AND SCIENCE INDEX IN QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

What is a scientific citation index?

Russian Citation Index (RSCI)

1. Impact factor for a scientific journal (it is calculated as the number of citations in a particular year to articles published in the journal over the previous 3 years and is, to some extent, a characteristic of the authority of the journal)
2. citation index (RSCI)
3. HIRSCH index

A distinctive feature of these indicators (RSCI and HIRSCH index) is that they can be applied to any array of articles (author, laboratory, institute, country, etc. for any period of time).

Russian Science Citation Index(RSCI) is the main analytical system for assessing the publication activity and citation rate of Russian authors, organizations, scientists, and journals.

RSCI email address - www.elibrary.ru

In Russia, the citation index is increasingly being introduced into the field of science and education every year.

Today this indicator is actively used:

  • The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation to assess the activities of scientists and scientific organizations in general, when conducting an examination of applications for funding within the framework of federal target programs and other competitions;
  • heads of scientific institutions to certify scientists and assess the effectiveness of their scientific activities;
  • publishers scientific literature and periodicals to predict the demand for the works of a particular author among the target audience.

Web of Science andScopus

The most authoritative of the existing international citation systems, whose indices are recognized throughout the world, are: "Web of Science" and its competitor - a relatively young system " Scopus" Journals included in these systems are officially recognized by the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC).

The Web of Science system covers more than 12,000 publications in English and partly in German languages(since 1980). This citation database is currently owned by Thomson Reuters. The Russian-language website of Thomson Reuters provides recommendations for working with Web of Sciences.

Citation system « Scopus » is the world's largest single multidisciplinary abstract database (since 1995), which is updated daily. Scopus is the most extensive database of scientific publications without full text. Scopus covers over 15 thousand scientific journals from 4 thousand scientific publishing houses around the world.

However, very few Russian scientific journals are represented in international databases. The cost of subscription to foreign systems is significant, which for most Russian organizations Simply unacceptable.

Therefore, in Russia since 2005 Scientific electronic library a national Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) is being created. RSCI is a national information and analytical system that includes almost 20 million publications of Russian authors, as well as information on the citation of these publications by more than 8000 Russian magazines (and about 3000 Russian journals are in the public domain; in total, there are already more than 46 thousand journals in the database).

The RSCI database is intended not only to promptly provide scientific research with relevant reference and bibliographic information, but is also a powerful tool that allows assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of the activities of research organizations, scientists, the level of scientific journals, etc.

In addition to bibliographic and citation information, the RSCI includes information about the authors of publications and the organizations in which they work. This mechanism makes it possible to integrate publication and citation indicators: from a research fellow-author, a structural unit and institution where a circle of authors work, to ministries and departments or entire administrative-geographical regions.

Thus, the RSCI allows:

  • analyze statistics on the publication activity of individual authors, teams of authors, organizations and journals;
  • find publications cited in a particular article;
  • find publications citing the article;
  • search bibliography by topic or subject;
  • view information about journals, authors of publications and the organizations in which they work.

Based on the RSCI database, in accordance with Order No. 406 of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated October 14, 2009, when analyzing publication activity, citations are taken into account for the five years preceding the current year. Although the general indicators take into account the publication activity of the author for ALL years. It is also worth noting that the Hirschi index is not calculated in 5 recent years(today this is the period 2009-2013), but for the entire period.

As mentioned above, the personal citation index can be used to judge the scientific productivity of one author.

The Russian Citation Index includes 3 main indicators:

  • total number of publications, where this person appears as an author or co-author. The index is not divided by the number of co-authors, and self-citations are not subtracted.
  • number of citations of the author’s works (according to the bibliography)
  • Hirschi index

It should be noted that when assessing a personal citation index, one should be guided by the rule of comparing like with like. Thus, it makes no sense to compare the indices and reports of a professor who has been involved in science for 50 years, with a large number of publications, and a young graduate student who has published 4–5 articles, just as it would be incorrect to compare the citation index of researchers in different fields of science and medicine.

Hirsch index

In addition to the citation index, another very informative indicator is the so-called Hirsch index (h-index). The Hirsch index was proposed in 2005 by American physicist Jorge Hirsch from the University of San Diego, California.

The most important thing to understand is how “it stands for”:

For example, an h-index of 8 means that scientists have published at least 8 works, each of which has been cited at least 8 times. In this case, the number of works cited fewer times can be any. The h-index for a scientific journal, organization or country can be calculated in a similar way.

Like any formal indicator, the h-index has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of the index include the fact that it will be equally low both for the author of one super-popular article and for the author of many works cited no more than once. The Hirsch index allows you to filter out the so-called. "random co-authors"; this indicator will be high only for those who have enough publications, and all of them (or at least many of them) are in sufficient demand, i.e. often cited by other researchers.

The index “works” well only when comparing scientists working in the same field.

The RSCI database is still far from complete, as it is being formed relatively recently and is compiled very unsystematically. But it is constantly improving.

How to increase the RSCI and the Hirsch index?

  1. Strive to publish original articles of high scientific and practical level, which other authors would willingly refer to.
  2. Published in collaboration with a colleague who has high scientometric indicators.
  3. In publications, provide links to your own articles published in other journals. When sending publications to English-language publications, provide links to your own articles published in translated literature.
  4. Those. increase self-citation, as well as exchange links to colleagues' articles. To do this, share information about the publication with your colleagues.
  5. In publications, indicate VEIP as the author’s place of work
  6. Submit articles to journals supported by the expert council of the Higher Attestation Commission, where published materials undergo thorough scientific examination and are available on the Internet.
  7. Write high-quality abstracts.
  8. To increase the impact factor of “your” journal, provide links to articles in “your journal”, as well as actively inform colleagues about the articles of this team of authors published in the journal. If “your” journal is not in the RSCI database, recommend that the publisher register in it. Here is information for publishers of periodicals, and here for non-periodicals.
  9. Be more attentive to the correct bibliographic formatting of your articles and reference lists, to the spelling of your last name and first name.
  10. And once again: When publishing articles, it is worth considering the presence of the journal in the RSCI and in the list recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission.

What citation level should authors have? There is no definite answer, but approximate guidelines exist:

  • Hirsch index from 0-2 according to the RSCI - corresponds to the scientific activity of a novice scientist (applicant for an academic degree, graduate student);
  • Hirsch index from 3 to 6 according to the RSCI - corresponds to the scientific activity of a candidate of sciences;
  • Hirsch index from 7 to 10 according to the RSCI - corresponds to the scientific activity of a doctor of sciences;
  • The Hirsch index from 11 to 15 corresponds to the scientific activity of a famous scientist (member of the dissertation council, founder of a scientific school);
  • An H-index of 16 and above corresponds to the scientific activity of a world-famous scientist (head of a scientific organization, chairman of a dissertation council)

Head department "Psychotherapy" VEIP

This instruction is intended for authors of scientific publications included in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) database.

Scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.RU is the largest Russian information portal in the field of science, technology, medicine and education, containing abstracts and full texts more than 14 million scientific articles and publications. Electronic versions of more than 2,500 Russian scientific and technical journals are available on the eLIBRARY.RU platform, including more than 1,300 open access journals.

The Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) is a national information and analytical system that accumulates more than 2 million publications by Russian authors, as well as information on the citation of these publications from more than 3,000 Russian journals.

It is intended not only to promptly provide scientific research with up-to-date reference and bibliographic information, but is also a powerful tool for assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of research organizations, scientists, the level of scientific journals, etc.

Author registration in SCIENCE INDEX is combined with user registration on the portal of the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU. To register on the eLIBRARY.RU portal, you must fill out a new registration form, which can be opened by clicking on the link Registration in the panel Library entrance; To register in SCIENCE INDEX, you need to fill out additional fields in the same form.

If you are already registered on the eLIBRARY.RU portal and want to register in SCIENCE INDEX, you need to log into the library under your username and then go to your personal card in the section Personal profile, or by clicking on the username in the panel Current session.

When registering, you must select a unique username to log into the library and provide your personal, valid email address. When registering in the SCIENCE INDEX system, a letter with a registration confirmation code will be sent to this address. After receiving this letter, you will need to follow the link provided in the text of the letter.

After registration, a letter will be sent to your email informing you that you have been assigned a personal author identification code (SPIN code) in the SCIENCE INDEX system. From the moment you assign a SPIN code, you get access to new services provided to authors of scientific publications.

After registering the author in the SCIENCE INDEX system and assigning him the author’s personal identification code (SPIN code) in the section For authors a link appears to Personal profile author, where all the tools and services intended for authors of scientific publications are collected. To view a list of your publications, you can follow the link My publications in this section.

You can also get to the list of your publications through Author index or simply by clicking on the author’s last name on any RSCI page where this last name is highlighted as a link.

To do this, select it in the list and select the operation Delete selected publications from the list of author's works in the panel Possible actions on right. Be careful, when you delete a publication, it will no longer appear not only in the list of your works, but also in your list of unlinked publications.

When adding publications to list of your publications in some cases the system does not allow this to be done automatically. This usually happens if there is doubt about the correct attribution of a given publication to a given author, for example, if the last name or initials of the authors are different, or if the article is already associated with another namesake author. In this case, requests to add articles are submitted for manual review to the RSCI support service. To view the list of publications that are awaiting a decision to include them in your list of publications, you can select the mode Show publications, awaiting confirmation of inclusion in the list of the author's works.

A situation is possible when a publication is in the RSCI database, but is not offered in the list of possible publications of a given author.

The author needs to find such publications by creating a query, running it and viewing the results. On the search query results page, publications that are already included in the list of your works are marked with icons with a red asterisk in the right column, which shows the number of citations of the publications. If you find your publication in this list that is not included in the list of your works, go to the page with its bibliographic description and select the operation there Add a publication to the list of my works in the panel Possible actions.

Working with a list of citations

You can get to the page with a list of author citations by following the link My citations from Personal profile author or from Author's index by clicking on the number of citations an author has received. For each link shown in the list of citations, not only the text of the link itself is displayed, but also a brief bibliographic description of the publication - the source of this link. If a link cites a publication whose bibliographic description is available in the RSCI database, then an icon with a red arrow is added at the end of the link text, allowing you to go to the full bibliographic description of the cited publication.

Just like in the list of author’s publications, in the list of his citations you can choose a mode - show only (linked) links included in the author’s citation list, show only unlinked links that may belong to this author, show linked and unlinked links in one list, or or display links awaiting confirmation of inclusion in the author's citation list. In this case, just like in the list of publications, for unlinked links the serial number in the list is highlighted in red.

The algorithm for how an author works with a list of his citations is generally similar to the algorithm for working with a list of publications. First, you need to check whether other people’s publications are included in the author’s citation list. If such links are found, you need to select them in the list and select the operation Delete selected links from the list of author citations in the Possible Actions panel. Then you need to look through the list of unlinked links and look there for links to your work. If any are found, select them in the list and select the operation Add highlighted links to the author's citation list. All these operations must be carried out on each page of the list separately, since when moving to the next page, the marked links are not saved

Also, as in the case of publications, not all references can be included in the author's list of citations immediately. Disputed links (for example, already linked to another author) are submitted for consideration to the RSCI support service. Until a decision is made, they appear in a separate list, which can be viewed by selecting the “Show links awaiting confirmation of inclusion in the author’s citation list” mode.

Not all links that may relate to publications by a given author may be shown in the list unlinked links on the page with a list of citations of this author, since links with errors in the author’s surname or initials are not included (and there are quite a lot of such in lists of cited literature). In addition, links cannot be included where the given author is not listed at all in the list of authors of the cited publication. In order to find such references, you can use a special search form for references.

You can access this search form from the section Personal profile author by following the link Search for citations in RSCI. If you were able to find links to your publications, select them in the list and select the operation Add highlighted links to the list of my citations in the panel Possible actions on right.

Organization identification

In the SCIENCE INDEX system, registered authors are given the opportunity to identify the Literary Institute named after. A.M. Gorky as an organization in his publications. This opportunity can be useful not only to you as an author, but also to the Literary Institute. A.M. Gorky, since it improves the institute’s performance in the RSCI. To do this you need to select an operation Identify the organization, indicated in the publication as my place of work in the panel Possible actions. This action appears in the list of possible actions only if the author's organization in this publication is not identified or is missing.

All bibliometric indicators and statistical distributions calculated in the SCIENCE INDEX system for the author are brought together on the page Analysis of the author's publication activity. You can get to this page from the section Personal profile the author, as well as from Author's index by clicking on the colored histogram icon. Each of the indicators presented on this page is equipped with a tooltip, which is displayed when you hover the mouse over the icon with a question mark next to the name of the corresponding indicator.

Author bibliometric indicators are calculated on a periodic basis. The date of the last update is shown in the page title. Registered authors have the ability to update these metrics themselves by selecting the operation Update Author Metrics in the panel Possible actions.

More detailed instructions, which describes the algorithm of the author’s actions to correct and maintain the list of his publications and citations in the RSCI up to date, is located on the website of the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU in the section "For authors."

With the help of identifiers, one of the most important problems in the assessment and management of science is solved - the connection between the author and his works. Identifiers make it possible to establish a unique correspondence between the author and the results of his scientific and publication activities, which cannot be established by full name due to problems with namesakes, change of surnames during marriage, incomplete indication of names in publications, various transliterations, etc. There is no single global database of publications yet, so there are several identifiers.
