What power should a microwave oven have? How to choose the right microwave oven. Workflow management

Which in most cases simplifies the daily life of most people, especially those who do not like to tinker in the kitchen for a long time, and love comfort in all its details, namely - microwave oven, or as people say - microwave. In this article you will learn: what is microwave, what types of microwave ovens are there, how to choose a microwave oven, and other nuances that relate to this technique. So…

Microwave . orMicrowave ( English Microwave oven ) - a household electrical appliance intended for instant cooking or rapid heating or cooking, defrosting food, and also used for industrial purposes to heat certain materials, such as glue.

Unlike classical ovens (for example, an oven or a Russian oven), heating of products in a microwave oven does not occur from the surface, but throughout the entire volume of the product containing polar molecules (for example, water), since radio waves penetrate deep enough into almost everything food products. This reduces the heating time of the product.

The history of the discovery of the microwave oven

Like many other discoveries that have had a significant impact on people's daily lives, the discovery of the thermal effects of microwaves happened by accident. In 1942, American physicist Percy Spencer worked in the laboratory of the Raytheon company with a device that emitted ultra-high-frequency waves. Different sources describe differently the events that happened that day in the laboratory. According to one version, Spencer put his sandwich on the device, and after removing it a few minutes later, he discovered that the sandwich had warmed up to the middle. According to another version, the chocolate that Spencer had in his pocket when he was working near his installation warmed up and melted, and, struck by a lucky guess, the inventor rushed to the buffet for raw corn kernels. The popcorn brought to the installation soon began to burst with a bang...

One way or another, the effect was discovered. In 1945, Spencer received a patent for the use of microwaves for cooking, and in 1947, the first devices for cooking using microwaves appeared in the kitchens of hospitals and military canteens, where the requirements for food quality were not so high. These Raytheon products, as tall as a man, weighed 340 kg and cost $3,000 apiece.

It took a decade and a half to perfect the oven, in which food is cooked using invisible waves. In 1962, the Japanese company Sharp launched the first mass-produced microwave oven, which, however, did not initially cause a consumer stir. The same company developed a rotating table in 1966, used a microprocessor oven control system for the first time in 1979, and developed the first microwave oven with Internet access in 1999.

The experience of using millions of microwave ovens in many countries over the past decades has proven the undeniable convenience of this method of cooking - speed, efficiency, ease of use. The very mechanism of cooking food using microwaves, which we will introduce you to below, determines the preservation of the molecular structure, and therefore taste qualities products.

The principle of operation of a microwave oven, or how food is heated using a microwave

Food contains many substances: mineral salts, fats, sugar, water. To heat food using microwaves, it must contain dipole molecules, that is, molecules that have a positive electrical charge at one end and a negative one at the other. Fortunately, there are plenty of such molecules in food - these are molecules of fats and sugars, but the main thing is that the dipole is a molecule of water - the most common substance in nature.

Every piece of vegetables, meat, fish, and fruit contains millions of dipole molecules. In the absence of an electric field, the molecules are arranged randomly. In an electric field, they line up strictly in the direction of the field lines, “plus” in one direction, “minus” in the other. As soon as the field changes direction to the opposite, i.e. change polarity, as the molecules immediately turn over 180 o.

So, the microwave frequency that almost all microwave ovens use is 2450 MHz. One hertz is one vibration per second, a megahertz is one million vibrations per second. During one wave period, the field changes its direction twice: it was “plus”, became “minus”, and the original “plus” returned again. This means that the field in which our molecules are located changes polarity 4,900,000,000 times per second! Under the influence of microwave radiation, molecules tumble at a frantic frequency and literally rub against each other during revolutions. The heat released during this process is what causes the food to warm up.

Microwaves heat up food in much the same way that our palms heat up when we quickly rub them together. There is one more similarity: when we rub the skin of one hand against the skin of the other, heat penetrates deep into the muscle tissue. So are microwaves: they work only in a relatively small surface layer of food, without penetrating deeper than 1-3 cm. Therefore, heating of products occurs due to two physical mechanisms - heating of the surface layer by microwaves and subsequent penetration of heat into the depth of the product due to thermal conductivity .

This immediately follows a recommendation: if you need to cook in the microwave, for example, big piece meat, it is better not to turn on the oven at full power, but to work at medium power, but at the same time increase the time the piece remains in the oven. Then the heat from the outer layer will have time to penetrate deep into the meat and cook well. inner part piece, and the outside of the piece will not burn.

For the same reasons, it is better to stir liquid foods, such as soups, periodically, removing the pan from the oven from time to time. This will help the heat penetrate deep into the soup container.

I would like to note that the radiation frequency in some industrial microwave ovens (the so-called variable frequency microwave, VFM) may vary and may not be 2450 MHz

Microwave oven device

Main components of magnetron microwave oven:

— a metal chamber with a metallized door (in which ultra-high-frequency (microwave) radiation is concentrated), where the heated products are placed;
— transformer - source of high-voltage power supply for the magnetron;
— control and switching circuits;
- direct microwave emitter - magnetron;
— a waveguide for transmitting radiation from the magnetron to the camera;

Auxiliary elements:

— rotating table - necessary for uniform heating of the product from all sides;
— circuits and circuits that provide control (timer) and safety (mode locking) of the device;
- a fan that cools the magnetron and ventilates the chamber.

Harm from a microwave oven

Actually, this is a broad question, but everyone should have their own opinion on this matter. I found a bunch of information on the Internet, both “Pros” and “Cons” of using microwave ovens. But personally, I am still inclined to believe that a microwave oven is no more dangerous, and perhaps less dangerous, than a CRT TV. Therefore, I didn’t decide to write another hundred lines. At the end of the article, you can read a couple more lines on this topic in “Myths about Microwave Ovens.”

The only thing I noticed, and that basically two “camps” of supporters and opponents agree, is that you can’t heat it in a microwave oven. breast milk, and then feed the child with it, because to some extent the formula of this milk changes slightly.

By the way, on this occasion, I found a photo that shows the range of the harmful influence of a microwave oven. It shows how safe it is to have a microwave in the house.

Precautionary measures

— Microwave radiation cannot penetrate metal objects, so it is impossible to cook food in metal utensils. Metal utensils and metal utensils (spoons, forks) placed in the oven during the heating process can damage it.

— Liquids in hermetically sealed containers and whole bird eggs cannot be heated in a microwave oven - due to the strong evaporation of water, high pressure is created inside them and, as a result, they can explode. For the same reasons, it is undesirable to overheat sausage products covered with plastic film.

— When heating water in the microwave, you should also be careful - water can overheat, that is, heat above the boiling point. A superheated liquid can boil almost instantly from careless movement. This applies not only to distilled water, but also to any water that contains few suspended particles. The smoother and more uniform the inner surface of the water container, the higher the risk. If the vessel has a narrow neck, then there is a high probability that when it starts boiling, superheated water will spill out and burn your hands.

— It is undesirable to place dishes with a metal coating (“golden border”) in a microwave oven - even this thin layer of metal is strongly heated by eddy currents and this can destroy the dishes in the area of the metal coating.

Now let's turn our attention to the microwave characteristics that you need to take into account when choosing a microwave oven.

Microwave types standard features, have additional ones - grill, convection, and many additional modes and others technical solutions cooking.

Important! There are microwave ovens that combine grilling and convection functions.

Microwave internal working space volume

Microwave ovens can be divided into groups based on volume:

- up to 20 l. Suitable for small families, and if you are not going to cook large dishes in it, such as baked fish or turkey;

- from 20 to 28 l. The most common volumes, thanks to which you can simultaneously heat a couple of small plates of food and cook medium-sized dishes. Such microwaves are suitable for families from 2 to 4 people;

- from 28 l (up to 42 l). In these microwaves you can cook most of a wide variety of dishes, and also heat up from 2 to 4 plates of food at the same time. In fact, a microwave oven with this volume is best purchased for families of 4 or more people.

Grill type

Tenov grill. Outwardly it resembles a black metal tube with a heating element inside, located in the upper part of the working chamber. Many microwave ovens are equipped with a so-called “moving” heating element (TEN), which can be moved and installed vertically or inclined (at an angle), providing heating not from above, but from the side.

The movable heating element grill is especially convenient to use and provides additional opportunities for preparing dishes in grill mode (for example, in some models you can fry chicken in a vertical position). In addition, the inner chamber of a microwave oven with a movable heating element grill is easier and more convenient to clean (as is the grill itself).

In some models, in addition to the upper heating element of the grill, there is also a lower grill.

Quartz grill. Located at the top of the microwave oven, it is a tubular quartz element behind a metal grid.

Advantages of quartz grill:

— Unlike a heating element grill, a quartz grill does not take up space in the working chamber.
— The power of a quartz grill is usually less than that of a grill with a heating element; microwave ovens with a quartz grill consume less electricity.
— Ovens with a quartz grill roast more gently and evenly, but a grill with a heating element can provide more intense operation (more “aggressive” heating).
— There is an opinion that a quartz grill is easier to keep clean (it is hidden in the upper part of the chamber behind a grill and is more difficult to get dirty). However, we note that over time, grease splatters, etc. They may still get on it, and it will no longer be possible to simply wash it, like a heating element grill. There is nothing particularly terrible about this (grease splashes and other contaminants will simply burn off the surface of the quartz grill).

Ceramic grill. In combination with traditional and quartz, a ceramic grill (heating element) allows you to cook even faster, as well as find optimal cooking conditions for any product. Using a ceramic grill also allows you to retain more moisture in your food and heat and cook the inside and outside of your food more evenly thanks to the deep penetration of far infrared radiation.

Type of inner covering

The inside of the microwave oven chamber may have a different coating, which you also need to pay attention to when choosing an oven.

The walls are painted to resemble enamel. This is the cheapest coverage. It cannot withstand high temperatures and long cooking times.

Durable enamel. It is easy to keep clean, it makes the walls smooth, eliminating porosity. This is an inexpensive coating.

Special coating(antibacterial - LG, bioceramic - Moulinex) is a special compound that is sintered at high temperatures, making the chamber coating an absolutely smooth surface.

The special coating has undeniable advantages:

Very durable;
perfectly smooth;
it is difficult to scratch;
has high resistance to soot;
better retains nutrients and;
retains more heat in the oven, since the thermal conductivity of the chamber is 2-4 times less than that of a stainless steel chamber, therefore it consumes less energy;
Everything from such a surface can be washed off without difficulty.

The disadvantages include the fragility of the coating and its high cost.

Stainless steel- durable, beautiful coating that can withstand any temperature (this is especially important when working with grill and convection). However, it is more difficult to care for, keep clean, and maintain shine. Stainless steel can be cleaned with abrasives.

Types of microwave oven controls

There are three types of control:mechanical, push-button, touch.

Mechanical- the simplest type of control using knobs, without an electronic display. Use two handles to set the radiation power and start the timer. Mechanical control is the simplest, most reliable, less likely to break down, and cheaper. But the mechanics do not provide the necessary accuracy in setting the time, and a difference of a few seconds can ruin the dish.

Push-button— the time on the electronic dial is set using buttons. Less reliable than mechanical, but more reliable than touch. Allows programming. Has a beautiful appearance.

Touch— push-button, but the buttons are clearly not visible, there are no protruding parts. It has a beautiful appearance, you can program the cooking process. Since there are no protruding buttons, dirt does not accumulate. But it’s not very convenient to press these buttons; with strong surges in the network, the touch elements sometimes burn, which are more expensive. Microwaves with touch controls make up about 60-70% of all microwave ovens sold.

Microwave power

When choosing a microwave oven, you should pay attention not only to the volume of the chamber and the level of equipment, but also to the power of the device. The power of a microwave oven depends greatly on the heat source used. If the oven is equipped only with a microwave emitter, then its power can be 500-1100 W. When the grill is operating, the rated power will be 850-1500 W. If the device is also equipped with a convector, then its power will be 1350-2000 W.

Each oven has several modes of operation of the microwave emitter. The simplest and most inexpensive microwaves have only 4 levels, the most complex ones have 10. But most often, microwaves are equipped with emitters capable of operating in 5 modes.

The most powerful is the so-called “full mode” (HIGH). When operating in this mode, the emitter power is maximum (100%). In this mode, you can prepare various sauces, drinks, bake vegetables and fruits.

The “above average” level (MEDIUM/HIGH) assumes that the emitter power is 70-75% of the possible one. In this mode, you can cook poultry, heat up first and second courses.
“Medium” (MEDIUM) level (50% of the maximum possible power) is optimal for cooking fish, roasting meat, and cooking various soups.

The “below average” level (MEDIUM/LOW), when the power is only 25% of the maximum, is well suited for defrosting food, preparing hot snacks, and reheating food.
And finally, the “minimum” power level (10%) can be used to heat up “delicate” foods (asparagus, tomatoes, strawberries, etc.) or keep a ready-made dish hot.

Additional functions and accessories of microwave ovens

One of the additional features of a microwave oven is the ability to supply steam, which helps prevent some foods from drying out while they are being cooked. Thanks to this function, food cooks two to three times faster while maintaining its natural consistency.

The ability to ventilate the working chamber can be called a small thing, but very pleasant. The smell of fish or meat with spices is removed in a matter of minutes, and soon after preparing a hot dish you can bake puff pastries or pies.

The multi-level plate rack allows you to heat several dishes at the same time.

With two grill grates, you will cook twice as much food in one “session”.

Some ovens are equipped with a function "auto-weight", that is, equipped with built-in electronic scales. In such models, there is no need to indicate the weight of the products placed in the working chamber - the microwave will determine it itself.

"Plate of Crusty", otherwise called "Crisp", allows you to fry food on it like in a frying pan. It is made of special metal and heats up to 200°C.

The “Dual emission” function declared by the manufacturer means that the radiation source is bifurcated. This separation contributes to more uniform heating of the products and increases the efficiency of the oven.
Sometimes microwave ovens are equipped with a dialogue mode, with which even a child can cook. A leading question is displayed on the display, and you only need to answer it for the next one to appear. Some models voice-duplicate messages displayed on an electronic display.

Electronic cookbook - this feature will greatly ease your wallet during the purchase and your life after the “smart” microwave oven is delivered home. Even a child can cook using this collection of recipes; you just need to understand how to use it. However, in our computer age, children are much better friends with electronics than adults.

In modern microwave ovens, there is a dialog mode when recommendations for the housewife are displayed on the display.

Safety

Safety from radiation, damage electric shock, from mechanical and thermal injuries is confirmed by certification according to international standards. Despite the criminal liability of developers and manufacturers of microwave ovens for your safety, installation and operation rules must be strictly followed.

You are protected from microwave radiation by a metal casing and structural traps around the perimeter of the door. The magnetron and transformer inside the microwave are fan cooled to prevent overheating. When the magnetron is turned on, the door is locked so that it cannot be opened. When the door is opened or the temperature of the chamber wall or stove casing rises, special sensors instantly turn off the magnetron. Experts say that the level of radiation even in the immediate vicinity of a microwave oven is several times lower than permissible and decreases sharply with distance.

High power consumption is another reason for increased danger. If your home's electrical system has a third ground wire, conventional shock protection will provide maximum safety.

It is strictly prohibited to use water or gas pipes as a grounding wire. This could lead to the death of your loved ones or neighbors.

If there is no grounding, try to prevent the possibility of simultaneous contact with the microwave oven body and water or gas pipes. Your safety can be increased by installing an RCD (Residual Current Device).

To protect against children, the microwave oven is switched on. Nevertheless, the possibility of children playing dangerous pranks with oven buttons and control knobs must be excluded.

Inventory technology in microwave ovens

Very often, the desire of consumers to purchase a large-volume microwave oven is faced with the impossibility of placing the desired oven in a small kitchen due to the very impressive dimensions of the oven. In addition to the actual volume of the working chamber, there are also technical elements that ensure the functioning of the microwave oven and, unfortunately, take up a lot of space. Inverter stoves were called upon to solve the problem.

Inverter technology can significantly reduce the volume required to house technical components by replacing the conventional magnetron with more compact components, resulting in an increase in the usable volume of the chamber.

The use of inverter technology for microwave ovens is based on the principle of direct control of the output power level (as opposed to classical magnetrons, which always operate at maximum power, and power regulation is achieved by their pulsed operating mode). The advantages of inverters, in addition to smaller dimensions, also include more rational use of energy, speeding up cooking processes (heating, defrosting) and reducing electricity consumption.

Currently, inverter technology is used mainly in Panasonic microwave ovens (in which it was first used), but there is no doubt that inverter technology has a great future.

Myths about microwave ovens

— Many people hold the belief that an iron plate can cause a high-power microwave to explode. In fact, in the worst case, it will cause damage to the magnetron due to arcing.

— If you keep a microwave oven on for a long time at high power, its powerful electromagnetic radiation can damage all electrical appliances within a radius of several meters. In fact, electromagnetic radiation outside the working chamber is no greater than from the back wall of the computer system unit, although close to it it can still interfere with the reception of a signal at a close frequency. Some oven models may interfere with Wi-Max, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

— A microwave oven can cause allergies... to electromagnetic waves.

- That for the first time a microwave oven, called “Radiomissor”, was allegedly developed by German scientists during the Second World War, it was even allegedly used in the current German army, for heating food, but allegedly turned out to be unsafe and was abandoned (Russian sites refer to foreign ones, and foreign ones refer to Russian studies allegedly conducted in the non-existent Russian cities of Kinsk and Rajasthan).

—Microwaves are radioactive or make foods radioactive. This is incorrect: microwaves are classified as non-ionizing radiation. They do not have any radioactive effect on substances, biological tissues and food.

— Microwaves change the molecular structure of food or make food carcinogenic. This is also incorrect. The operating principle of microwaves is different from that of X-rays or ionizing radiation, and they cannot make foods carcinogenic. In contrast, because microwave cooking requires very little fat, the finished meal contains less burnt fat with its molecular structure altered by cooking. Therefore, cooking food using microwaves is healthier and does not pose any danger to humans.

— Microwave ovens emit dangerous radiation. This is not true. Although direct exposure to microwaves can cause thermal damage to tissue, there is absolutely no risk when using a working microwave oven. The design of the oven provides strict measures to prevent radiation from escaping outside: there are duplicate devices for blocking the microwave source when the oven door is opened, and the door itself prevents microwaves from escaping outside the cavity. Neither the housing, nor any other part of the oven, nor food products placed in the oven accumulate electromagnetic radiation in the microwave range. As soon as the oven is turned off, the emission of microwaves stops.

Those who are afraid to even come close to a microwave oven need to know that microwaves attenuate very quickly in the atmosphere. To illustrate, we give the following example: the microwave radiation power allowed by Western standards at a distance of 5 cm from a new, just purchased stove is 5 milliwatts per square centimeter. Already at a distance of half a meter from the microwave, the radiation becomes 100 times weaker.

As a consequence of such strong attenuation, the contribution of microwaves to general background the electromagnetic radiation surrounding us is no higher than, say, from, in front of which we are ready to sit for hours without any fear, or a mobile phone, which we so often hold to our temple. Just don't lean your elbow on a running microwave or lean your face against the door trying to see what's going on in the cavity. It is enough to move away from the stove at arm's length, and you can feel completely safe.

Utensils for microwave oven

The choice of utensils for the microwave oven should be taken very seriously. The fact is that if you don’t understand this issue, it can lead to several troubles:

- you can harm your health;
- you can damage the microwave;
- you may lose the dishes themselves;
- you can ruin the product itself.

Choosing material

Dishes for microwave ovens can be fireproof or heat-resistant. The first can withstand temperatures of 250-300°C, the second - only up to 140°C. Both types of dishes can be made of glass, porcelain, ceramics, plastic, but the properties of these materials will be different. Refractory materials are subjected to special hardening; as a result, the resulting containers can be used even on electric and gas burners. Heat-resistant materials - ordinary table glass and ceramics (as well as some types of food plastics).

Let us dwell on the issue of choosing material in a little more detail.

Glass– one of the most common materials of cookware suitable for cooking in a microwave oven. It is not recommended to use thin-walled dishes in the microwave - although stable, such glass can burst when exposed to high temperatures. The best choice in this case would be bowls, bowls or dishes made of thick frosted or transparent glass: you can conveniently place pieces of food in them.

Porcelain. Porcelain dishes are very convenient for portion-wise heating of food: just place the plate intended for serving in the microwave - and in a few minutes you will get a hot lunch. If you buy plates without wide sides and a small diameter, you can place several pieces in the microwave at once, thereby providing lunch for the whole family. Porcelain cups can be used to heat drinks.

Ceramics, faience. Dishes made from this material are suitable for the microwave oven if they are covered with glaze on all sides (when purchasing, be sure to read the labeling on the product - it should indicate that it is acceptable for use in the microwave). You must carefully ensure that the top layer of glaze does not crack or fall off - otherwise high temperature The dishes won't be able to withstand it. Dishes, plates and bowls made of ceramics are not the best choice for the microwave: they are not transparent enough for microwaves and get very hot. However, you can use such dishes for preparing omelettes or meat dishes: on a very hot surface you can even get a beautiful golden crust, like in a regular frying pan. If desired, you can use ordinary tableware for cooking; many types are microwave safe.

Paper– a very convenient and fairly safe material for use in a microwave oven, provided that the cooking time is not long and the food does not contain a large number of fat or moisture (otherwise they will saturate the paper too much). However, avoid dyed paper as it may stain your food when exposed to heat. Paper towels can be used to wrap food and place it in baking pans.

Plastic has become quite widespread, but many still prefer to use plastic containers exclusively for storing and carrying food. Meanwhile, only plastic dishes can be placed in the microwave immediately after removal from the refrigerator (if they are used as “storage” for food) - they can withstand such changes. Plastic containers for storing food marked “Thermoplast” or “Duroplast” can be an excellent solution for office workers who prefer to carry home-cooked food from home and heat it up at work.

The shape of the container also matters. By choosing the right cookware settings, you can regulate the cooking time and quality. So, food takes longer to cook in deep dishes than in shallow ones. The round shape will ensure the most even heating of the food. Beware of dishes with sloped edges - the food will burn around the perimeter, but the inside will still be completely raw.

Foil It is permissible to use only for wrapping protruding parts of food. If you use too much foil, arcing may occur.

Important! When choosing dishes for a microwave oven, immediately purchase a lid of a suitable size (of course, also made of a suitable material). Covering food will retain more moisture and cook faster. So you can use special materials for better preparation food - wax paper, paper napkins, transparent film. Typically, recipes (if you use them and don't improvise them) will tell you how to wrap the food to get the best results.

Thus, right choice Using utensils for a microwave oven will not only provide a guaranteed result, but also improve the taste of the dish, as well as reduce its cooking time.

How to care for your microwave oven

— You need to wash the walls of the chamber with special detergents for microwave ovens, abrasive detergents - only stainless steel.

— If the camera is too dirty, put a glass of water in it and boil for 1 minute. The dirt will liquefy and wash off easily.

— Do not leave the inside of the microwave oven dirty, because... If the area where the door touches when closed becomes dirty, the door may not seal tightly, causing microwaves to leak out.

1. If your electrical network experiences frequent power surges, get a voltage stabilizer or an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), because When there are changes, especially in microwave ovens with LCD displays and touch controls, it is these components that fail.

2. When purchasing a microwave, it is better to immediately purchase microwave care products, because... These products are most often sold only in specialized stores, and when caring for a product, it is best to use them.

3. When purchasing, pay attention to the warranty card, because If the store where you purchased the product does not cooperate with a specific service center of the microwave manufacturer, in the event of a possible breakdown, they may begin to “send” you from one place to another in search of the truth.

4. When purchasing, pay attention to the tray, which is mainly made of glass. Sometimes he may get stabbed, or with other unpleasant surprises.

5. When purchasing, always, I repeat once again, always open and look at the appearance of the product. The words of the seller, who in a hurry says that the goods have already been checked, and leave everything in it well for others, because often some representatives of the selling company are too lazy to fulfill their duties.

6. Be sure to check the package contents when purchasing. There are times when something is missing.

How a Microwave Oven Works: 6 Basic Elements

Thanks to the microwave oven, you can easily and quickly reheat any dish The microwave oven is currently very popular and is the most popular kitchen appliance. Using a microwave oven, you can not only heat or cook food, but also defrost food and even disinfect some kitchen utensils that do not contain metal. This device has become completely commonplace today.

Microwave oven design: basic design elements

Microwave oven is a household electrical appliance, which is intended mainly for cooking or heating food in a fast mode. Microwaves are also used in some industries where necessary materials need to be heated.

A microwave oven, despite its small size, consists of many parts

Unlike conventional ovens, heating different foods in this device occurs quite quickly, since radio waves are able to penetrate deep inside the products. This radically reduces the heating of any product and helps preserve all the nutrients in it.

The design of all microwave ovens consists, as a rule, of the same components. The design of microwave ovens has basic and auxiliary elements. The appearance of these devices can be very diverse. Sizes, colors and functions may vary for each individual oven, they may be different.

Structure of a microwave oven:

  • A chamber equipped with a rotating stage;
  • The magnetron is the main element - a microwave emitter;
  • Transformer;
  • Metal case with a door that is locked when the device is operating;
  • Management and communications scheme;
  • Waveguide.

The microwave must also be equipped with a fan inside. Its purpose is very great, since without it the device itself will not work. This device ensures excellent operation of the magnetron and cools the electronic circuits.

How a microwave oven works: its types

The operation of a microwave oven is very simple, it is based on microwave radiation. The heart of every microwave oven is an element called a magnetron. It is the source of radiation. The frequency of microwaves is approximately 2450 MHz, and the power of modern microwave ovens can be 700 - 1000 W. This stove runs on electricity.

The microwave heats the dish evenly on all sides

To ensure that the magnetron works well and does not overheat, a fan is installed next to it. It also circulates air inside the oven itself and promotes uniform heating of food or products.

Microwaves enter the oven through a waveguide, and then the walls, which are made of metal, reflect the magnetic radiation itself. Radiation, penetrating deep into products, causes their molecules to move very quickly. These actions promote friction, as a result of which heat is released (physics is present). This is warm and will warm up the food.

Types of electrical appliances:

  • With grill;
  • Convection oven;
  • Inverter controlled device;
  • A device with microwaves that are distributed evenly;
  • Mini microwave.

The main advantage of all microwave ovens is their design. The market provides a huge selection of devices; you can choose both a stylish and an ergonomic model. The description of these models will allow you to choose the model you like, which will become not just a decoration for the kitchen, but also its highlight. An example would be a Samsung microwave oven.

Control unit: microwave operating principle

Every microwave oven has such an important element as a control unit. It, in turn, performs two main functions: maintains the set power and turns off the device when the set time has expired. To date, technologies have developed the new kind this element is electronic.

Today, an electronic unit can support not only its basic functions, but also some additional ones. Some of them are necessary, while others are not needed at all. Many modern models have a grill, which is also controlled by a control unit.

Among the advantages of a microwave oven, it is worth noting the low price and long service life

Today, the command block is equipped with various microprocessors, which, in turn, support the functionality of other programs. Therefore, the power supply can be responsible for the operation of additional functions.

Additional service functions:

  • Built-in clock;
  • Power indicator;
  • Automatic defrost;
  • An audible signal that indicates a completed operation.

The electronic unit is closely connected with the indicator panel and keyboard. The most important detail such a block is a relay block. It is responsible for the operation of the fan, convector, built-in lamp and even magnetron.

Microwave frequency: magnetron and its components

The principle of operation of a microwave oven is that when the microwave oven is turned on, the magnetron begins to release energy, and then it is converted into heat. This heat is used to heat food. Magnetron is translated as an electric vacuum diode, which consists of a copper anode. This is the most expensive part of the stove.

Heating of food that is inside the microwave occurs under the influence of electromagnetic radiation, that is, ultrahigh frequency radio waves. Due to the fact that radio waves penetrate deeply into the heated product, it is heated very quickly and efficiently.

If the magnetron breaks down, it is quite difficult to repair it yourself without the appropriate experience.

Magnetron is a device that produces a huge amount of heat due to the frequency of radiation. The radiation frequency is 2.4 GHz. The efficiency of the magnetron is 80%, and the power consumption of this type of furnace during radiation can be 1100 W.

The magnetron device consists of the following parts:

  • The cylindrical anode is its base, consisting of 10 sectors, each of them made of copper;
  • In the center is a cathode with an incandescent filament;
  • The end parts are occupied by magnets, they create the magnetic field necessary for radiation;
  • A wire loop connected to the antenna, which emits energy.

With the help of an emitter antenna, the energy first enters the waveguide and then into the furnace chamber. The voltage supplied to the anode is 4 thousand W, the filament is 3 thousand W. The magnetron housing is located in a plastic radiator, where a built-in fan blows air over it, and a special fuse is responsible for its overheating.

Design and principle of operation of a microwave oven (video)

WITH in English This statement Microwave oven can be deciphered as a microwave oven. This design is a household appliance that runs on electricity and is distinguished by the fact that it defrosts or heats food very quickly. This happens due to microwave radiation.

Hello, dear friends!

A microwave can make life much easier and save valuable time, but choosing one is still not so simple. Today we will help you navigate how to choose a microwave oven that best suits your desires and preferences.

In order for the device to meet your requirements and successfully cope with its tasks, you need to decide why exactly you need a microwave oven and how complex dishes you are going to cook in it.

A microwave or microwave oven is a device that allows you to quickly heat, defrost or cook food using ultra-high frequency waves. On various forums you can find extensive debate on the dangers of microwave ovens from the point of view of the impact on food and the human body. In fact, these fears are not well founded.

Electromagnetic radiation penetrates a substance and affects molecules, causing them to actively vibrate. Friction between molecules increases, which leads to an increase in temperature. Thus, the dish is simply heated from the inside. The quality of the products does not suffer in any way.

The housings of modern microwave ovens are reliably shielded and do not allow radiation to pass out, so it is quite safe to be in a room with a working microwave oven.

Cooking methods

In order to choose the right model that is right for you, you need to know what types of microwaves there are.

Solo

They only have microwave radiation, without any additional capabilities. You can quickly reheat a finished dish or defrost food. However, don't limit yourself to just these simple functions. In such ovens you can easily build some simple culinary masterpiece.

This works especially well if you use parchment. You can use it to bake vegetables or even chicken and fish. Soups or roasts stewed in ceramic pots turn out well in solo ovens.

Grill

The name speaks for itself. In this stove you can achieve the same effect as when frying over an open fire. That is, if you use the grill mode during the cooking process, then a golden brown crust is guaranteed to your dish.

Just be prepared for the fact that you will have to scrub the internal surfaces of the stove more thoroughly and for longer, since this mode nevertheless involves the inevitable splashing of fat and juice during the cooking process. Here are some tips on how to maintain your microwave and make the process less tedious.

Convection

Here, to the previous functions, the ability to cook baked goods has been added. Such stoves are analogues of ovens. The convection mode distributes hot air inside the chamber, allows you to bake dishes evenly and significantly reduces cooking time.

It should be remembered that when using convection, energy consumption increases.

Steam generator

Ovens of this type, in addition to other dishes, can cook dietary dishes steamed, and almost twice as fast as electric or conventional steamers. In addition, they can sterilize dishes.

Please note that ovens of this type are not the most compact in size and are quite expensive. When choosing them, you will not only save on the purchase of a steamer, but will also have a whole modern automated complex with rich functionality, allowing you to cook simultaneously on several levels according to given programs.

Necessary functions and modes

When you have more or less decided on the type of microwave oven, you need to think about what functions you want to use, whether you are purchasing it for your home, office or cottage.

  • Warming up

We came home from work, took out of the refrigerator what we had prepared the day before, threw it in the microwave - we needed a reheating function. The automatic heating mode will allow you not to rack your brains over determining the time and power. Simply select the name of the dish on the control panel and the oven itself will set the necessary parameters. But you can do this manually, the process is not at all difficult.

  • Defrosting

This is an indispensable function, it saves a lot of time and helps out if you forgot to defrost it in advance. the right product or suddenly you needed to prepare something urgently. It also exists in two modes - automatic and manual. With an automatic machine everything is clear, as in the case of warming up. You need to get used to using the manual mode so that the product does not start to bake on the outside before it has time to defrost inside.

  • Automatic cooking

An excellent function to help the lazy or busy, it insures you against mistakes. Load, for example, chicken into the microwave, select this name from the menu on the control panel, set the weight of the product and press the appropriate program. As a result, you will definitely get grilled chicken, and not boiled, steamed, undercooked or any other kind.

Having an auto-cook feature doesn't mean you can't improvise. You can prepare any dish, guided by your own experience and independently choosing the desired power and cooking time. You can also easily program your favorite recipes into the memory of those models that allow this feature.

  • Crispy crust

This is an additional feature that allows you to brown your roast beef on all sides, for example. That is, there is a grill on top, and below there is a dish made of a special material that quickly heats up and fries the product.

  • Cleaning the oven with steam

Expensive models are equipped with this function. With its help, you do not have to make any effort to wash the internal surfaces; a special program will do this without your direct participation. The whole process will take only 10 - 15 minutes, and the stove will be clean.

  • Odor removal function

This option can be very useful for a small apartment, where the spread of aroma from the kitchen bothers everyone who is not involved in the cooking process, or for an office, where extraneous odors certainly do not contribute to increased productivity. Models with this function have a built-in fan that successfully solves this problem in just 5 minutes.

Microwave oven parameters

A little more information to choose the most suitable parameters.

Power

A very important characteristic. It is directly dependent on the functionality of the stove. The more operations performed, the higher the power of the device. If you use a solo oven, the power of this model will be up to 1,000 W. This is quite enough for the successful implementation of basic programs.

If you choose a grill or convection, then be aware that the sum of the powers adds up. For grilling it starts from 1,000 W, and for convection – from 1,300 W. That is, when you use these two modes simultaneously, the output will be 2,300 W. Make sure your wiring will handle this.

Volume

Everything is simple here. If you are just heating, defrosting or preparing simple dishes, a working chamber volume of up to 20 liters is quite enough for you.

If you are cooking for a family of 3 people or for more than one day, then choose ovens of about 30 liters. Well, if you have to cook all day long, then focus on 40 liters to accommodate large volumes of food or multi-level stands.

Control type

  • Electromechanical control

Many people love mechanics for their simplicity and reliability. Two rotary switches - time and power. No difficulties in learning or using. Solo stoves are usually equipped with this control.

  • Electronic control

More complex ones can be push-button or touch-sensitive. Allows you to fine-tune the cooking parameters, makes it possible to program your favorite recipes or set the sequence of product processing. Multifunctional ovens are equipped with this type of control.

Inner coating

This is perhaps the last important point that you should pay attention to when choosing a microwave.

Enameled coating- the simplest and most inexpensive, easy to clean from dirt, but sensitive to scratches, chips and cracks. Its service life rarely exceeds 7 years. Typically, budget options for solo stoves have this coating.

Stainless steel coating is already much stronger and more durable compared to the previous one. It does not lose its properties over time, is not subject to mechanical damage, but requires more effort when cleaning, since fat sticks to such a surface very easily.

Ceramic or bioceramic coating– the most modern and advanced. Strong, safe, reliable and durable. It is easy to clean, since practically no grease settles on it. But at the same time, it is also the most expensive, of course.

Design

Finally, it is worth noting that the design of modern microwave ovens is quite diverse and makes it possible to choose the right option for a specific interior.

If your microwave will sit somewhere on a countertop or shelf, you can easily find a cabinet shade that matches the rest of the finish. There are also built-in models that can harmoniously fit into the design of your kitchen set.

October 8th marks 65 years since microwave oven technology was patented.

A microwave oven (microwave oven, microwave oven) is one of the most popular household electrical appliances and is designed for quick cooking, heating food and defrosting food. Its creator, Massachusetts resident Percy Spencer, patented his invention on October 8, 1945.

According to legend, the idea of creating a microwave oven came to his mind after he stood near a magnetron (an electron tube that generates microwave electromagnetic radiation) and discovered that it was lying in his pocket. chocolate bar melted. According to another version, he noticed that a sandwich placed on the switched-on magnetron became hot.

The first microwave ovens, intended for army canteens and large restaurants, were cabinets 175 cm high and weighing 340 kg. More compact home stoves began to be produced in 1955.

The first mass-produced household microwave oven was released by the Japanese company Sharp in 1962. Initially, the demand for the new product was low. In the USSR, microwave ovens were produced by the ZIL plant.

The operating principle of a microwave oven is based on the processing of a product placed inside the device with microwaves (microwave radiation). These waves heat the food.

Microwaves are a form of electromagnetic energy, just like light waves or radio waves. These are very short electromagnetic waves that travel at the speed of light (299.79 km/s).

Food contains many substances: mineral salts, fats, sugar, water. To heat food using microwaves, it must contain dipole molecules, that is, molecules that have a positive electrical charge at one end and a negative one at the other. There are plenty of similar molecules in food - these are molecules of both fats and sugars, but the main thing is that the dipole is a molecule of water - the most common substance in nature. Every piece of vegetables, meat, fish, and fruit contains millions of dipole molecules.

In the absence of an electric field, the molecules are arranged randomly. In an electric field, they line up strictly in the direction of the field lines, “plus” in one direction, “minus” in the other. As soon as the field changes direction to the opposite, the molecules immediately turn over 180 degrees.

The magnetron that every microwave oven contains converts electrical energy into an ultra-high-frequency electric field with a frequency of 2450 megahertz (MHz) or 2.45 gigahertz (GHz), which interacts with water molecules in food.

Microwaves bomb water molecules in food, causing them to spin millions of times per second, creating molecular friction that heats the food.

This friction causes significant damage to food molecules, breaking or deforming them. Simply put, microwaves cause breakdown and changes in the molecular structure of food through the process of radiation.

Microwaves operate only in a relatively small surface layer of food, without penetrating deeper than 1-3 cm. Therefore, heating of products occurs due to two physical mechanisms - heating of the surface layer by microwaves and subsequent penetration of heat into the depth of the product due to thermal conductivity.

When choosing a microwave oven, you should focus on its main characteristics, including chamber volume, type of control, presence of a grill, power and some others. The volume of the chamber is determined by the number of products that fit into the microwave oven.

There are three types of controls in microwave ovens - mechanical (the simplest type of control), push-button and touch.

Depending on the functions they perform, microwave ovens are divided into three types: microwave ovens, grill ovens, and grill and convection microwave ovens.

As for the additional functions of microwave ovens, the most common ones include the functions of double radiation (for uniform cooking of the product by volume) and auto-weight, which means that electronic sensors will weigh the product and select the cooking time.

Some models of microwave ovens have an interactive mode, when recommendations are displayed on the display while cooking a dish.

There may also be a microwave oven with built-in cooking recipes. To start the cooking process, you need to specify the type of product, quantity, and recipe. Ready-made programs make it possible to choose the optimal mode, exact time preparations.

Some models are equipped with a communication port for Internet access. This makes it possible to download new recipes and receive information about its calorie content.

Microwave oven accessories may include a multi-level plate rack, which allows you to heat several dishes at the same time, and a grill rack.

The material was prepared based on information from open sources

The popularity of using microwave ovens has not required special confirmation for a long time. This is facilitated by the small dimensions of the unit, its simplicity, convenience and functionality. Every year, or rather even monthly, more and more new models from various manufacturers enter the market. To understand this diversity, we bring to your attention the best microwave ovens according to user ratings in 2019. Every self-respecting manufacturer tries to introduce units to the market with a diverse set of functions in different price ranges. Therefore, for convenience, we will try to divide our rating of microwave ovens into three parts.

What to choose from

Before you start choosing a microwave oven, you should decide exactly what set of functions the kitchen assistant should have. Microwave oven can be of three types:

  • Solo. That is, one in which only microwave waves are present;
  • Microwave + grill. In addition to waves, it also has a heating element or quartz element, which allows you to fry the product until golden brown.
  • Microwave + grill + convection. Here, in addition to the above-mentioned elements, forced blowing of the product with hot air is added. That is, a microwave can work like an oven.

The first option is suitable for those who intend to use the unit only for heating or defrosting food. If desired, you can also boil or stew something in it. These are the simplest and most inexpensive microwave ovens.

If you like fried chicken, it is better to choose models with a grill. This function will allow you to fry fish, meat, cook pizza and other “goodies” as quickly and easily as possible.

The third type of microwave oven additionally has the function of forced heat distribution inside the chamber. This is the best option for those who plan to use the unit for making pies and buns, or baking bread.

As you can see, it all depends on what you want to get in the end. Therefore, when thinking about which microwave oven is worth spending money on, you should first of all decide on the priority direction of its use.

All microwave ovens are divided into 3 groups based on functionality: standard microwaves - solo, with grill, with grill and convection. The latter are many times more expensive. Their price often confuses a potential buyer, who sincerely cannot understand what to pay that kind of money for. How do they differ and what additional things can they offer? I figured out all the nuances, studied the opinions of users and experts, and compiled a rating of the best microwave ovens of 2019 so that you can make the right choice.

TOP 7 SOLO microwave ovens

Microwave SOLO is a simple device without additional options designed for defrosting, heating food and preparing simple dishes. The main advantage of such microwaves is their low cost and reliability.

The average price tag for such equipment is within 5,000 rubles, but there are even more expensive models. Do they have any clear advantages? Let's figure it out.

BBK 17MWS-782M/B

A simple stove without unnecessary functions, made of black plastic, costing 3,500 rubles. Power 700 W. Chamber volume – 17 liters. It is enough for 1-2 people. The inside of the chamber is covered with enamel - an imperfect coating, but it is used in all budget microwaves. There is interior lighting. Maximum operating time 30 minutes. 6 power modes, most often used are medium and defrost. Mechanical control - 2 rotary levers (for selecting power and operating time). When the microwave finishes working, it beeps.

  • Price;
  • Dimensions 446*245*329;
  • Reliability;
  • Ease of Management;
  • Camera lighting;
  • Inconvenient location of the door handle on top;
  • Noise during operation;
  • Camera coating – white enamel;
  • dries food.

BBK 17MWS-782M/B is designed more for heating food than for cooking it. This is evidenced by the low power and small volume of the chamber. Suitable for single people or a family of 2 people. A good option for a small office or cottage. Relevant for small kitchens.

The model from the Belarusian manufacturer differs from BBK 17MWS-782M/B in white. The dimensions are almost identical. Price 3,800 rubles. Control is mechanical. Operating modes – 5. Chamber volume 20 liters. The inner coating is enamel. Power 700 W. Functional differences from the BBK 17MWS-782M/B include defrosting by time and weight. In practice, this often turns out to be useless, but nevertheless this option is implemented.

  • Price;
  • Chamber volume;
  • Reliability;
  • Ease of Management;
  • Convenient door opening (button on the body).
  • Camera coating – enamel;
  • Short power cable;
  • The door glass is too dark;
  • Noisy work.

Horizont 20MW700-1378B is an option for an office or a country house, where there is no time to prepare food, you just need to reheat the finished food. The volume has been increased by 3 liters compared to the BBK 17MWS-782M/B, but it will still not be enough for large families. The difference in price is only 300 rubles, in my opinion, justified by the more pleasant design and convenient door opening. However, these advantages are insignificant and do not affect the quality of the stove’s operation, so you can safely save money and buy a cheaper BBK 17MWS-782M/B if its black color does not bother you.

The stove is an Italian brand, made in China. Costs 4,000 rubles. In terms of functionality, it is absolutely no different from previous rating models. There are some nice little things to note in the design – a more streamlined shape and the swing arms are visually more beautiful. Otherwise, it is exactly the same oven, designed primarily for heating, as the Horizont 20MW700-1378B.

  • Dimensions;
  • Reliability;
  • Ease of Management;
  • Camera lighting;
  • Sound signal at the end of work.
  • Camera coating – enamel;
  • Noisy operation;
  • The door is difficult to open.

Candy CMW 2070 M is a good stove that confidently performs its functions. If nuances in design are important to you, then you will not regret purchasing it. If you are not a connoisseur special forms, then you can save money and purchase Horizont 20MW700-1378B. The savings will be 200 rubles.

BBK 20MWS-728S/W

A simple microwave from the Chinese for 4,650 rubles. Attracts attention with touch controls, child protection, delayed start, LED display and 9 automatic operating modes. For each product, the microwave will determine the required cooking time and microwave power. Simply select a program and set the weight of the product using the number buttons. A “quick start” function is provided for heating. Pressing this button adds 30 seconds of operation at maximum microwave power. The “cooking programming” option also deserves attention. The user can assign several tasks to the microwave step by step. For example, after defrosting the product, the oven will begin preparing the dish if the owner “asks it to do so.” Chamber volume 20 liters. The inner coating is enamel. Power – 700 W.

  • Dimensions;
  • Automatic control programs;
  • cooking programming;
  • Convenient touch control;
  • Camera lighting;
  • Sound signal at the end of work;
  • Delay timer;
  • Door lock;
  • LED display;
  • The clock is in standby mode.
  • Camera coating – enamel;
  • Noisy operation;
  • The door open button is hard;
  • Short power cord.

9 automatic cooking programs are good, but as practice shows, most housewives do not use them, but set the cooking time and microwave power themselves, considering this approach more reliable. There are also those who use the microwave only for heating. If you are one of the latter, then you do not need such a microwave. Pay attention to the simpler Horizont 20MW700-1378B to save almost 1000 rubles. Overall, the BBK 20MWS-728S/W is a decent option for 1-2 people, capable of not only heating, but also cooking.

REDMOND is a Chinese manufacturer of kitchen appliances that are considered to have the best price/quality ratio. Nevertheless, REDMOND RM-2002D goes beyond the designated average price limit, costs 5,650 rubles. The stove has an LED display that works like a clock in standby mode. Chamber volume 20 liters. Polymer coating. There is a camera light. Control - push-button with rotary knob. Power 700 W. There are no automatic cooking programs. In view of this, the cost seems unjustified to me. From a design point of view, this microwave looks prestigious, made of plastic coated with metal.

  • Polymer coating of the camera;
  • Compactness;
  • design;
  • Simple controls;
  • step-by-step cooking function;
  • Recipe book included;
  • Child lock;
  • The clock is in standby mode.
  • Price;
  • There are no automatic cooking programs;
  • Noisy operation;
  • The door open button is hard;
  • Short power cord;
  • Bright red display indication.

REDMOND RM-2002D is a simple and reliable microwave, but its functionality does not justify the price. BBK 20MWS-728S/W has automatic cooking programs, is controlled by sensors and costs 1,000 rubles less. I’m already silent about the Horizont 20MW700-1378B, which will perform the same functions, with the exception of step-by-step preparation, for only 3,800 rubles - a savings of almost 2,000 rubles.

Extravagantly black microwave from a famous brand. Costs 6,000 rubles. Chamber volume 20 liters. Antibacterial coating, easy to clean Power 700 W. The number of programs is 32. They are divided into blocks: oriental chef, Italian chef, French chef, Russian chef. It is difficult to understand them without instructions. To help the user, inside the stove, on the top frame to which the door is adjacent, there is a decoding of the programs. Over time, a habit develops, but operating the stove cannot be called simple. Defrosting is also not easy. There are 4 programs for defrosting meat, fish, poultry, bread + manual settings. For simple heating there is a quick start and buttons for adding time (10 seconds, 1 minute and 10 minutes) - in this regard, everything is very convenient. A special feature of the model is uniform defrosting and heating of food, thanks to i-Wave technology. There is a power saving function. In standby mode, it reduces the brightness of the display and camera lighting. You are unlikely to achieve significant savings from this, the option is rather a marketing one, as they say, a trifle, but nice.

  • pros
  • Compactness;
  • design;
  • large selection of automatic programs;
  • Clock in standby mode;
  • i-Wave technology;
  • EasyClean interior coating;
  • Child lock.
  • Price;
  • Glossy surface of the case (traces remain);
  • Short power cord;
  • Complex controls;
  • The location of the ventilation grille is on the right (it is not possible to place the stove close to the wall).

LG MS-2042DB, unlike ovens costing up to 4,000 rubles, can cook 32 dishes. It does this for a long time and not always efficiently (not enough power). If you intend to use the stove for cooking, then this is a good, relatively inexpensive option. If the oven will only serve for heating and defrosting, then I recommend the Horizont 20MW700-1378B (saving 2,200 rubles). Also, if you want a cheaper oven for cooking, pay attention to the BBK 20MWS-728S/W.

It differs from previous models in the rating with a 23-liter chamber and a power of 800W. This already allows us to consider it as an option for cooking for 2-3 people. The stove has everything necessary for this - automatic cooking programs + manual settings, bioceramic coating of the chamber (corrosion-resistant, easy to clean) and the “odor removal” option. The controls are quite simple - mechanical buttons + LED display. Dimensions 489x275x344, which is almost comparable to 20-liter models. White color, classic design. The highlight is the blue backlit display located to the left of the buttons. When the door is closed, it feels like it is built directly into it.

  • Compactness;
  • Volume;
  • Power;
  • interesting display layout and backlight;
  • Bioceramic camera coating;
  • Child protection;
  • Removing odors;
  • Ability to turn off sound.
  • Short power cord;
  • It takes time to get used to using automatic programs.

The cost of 7,000 rubles may seem unjustified, but the manufacturer gives a 10-year guarantee on the chamber coating + a year on the device itself; the volume of the stove significantly expands its scope of application, allowing you to prepare dishes for the whole family. In my opinion, it is quite rational to spend it for the future. But if you want to save money, you can consider the 20-liter LG MS-2042DB and BBK 20MWS-728S/W. In the second case, the savings will be significant.

TOP 4 SOLO microwave ovens + grill

A grill is an additional heating element that allows you to fry food in the microwave and speed up the cooking process. Installation additional equipment is included in the cost of equipment, so ovens with grills are more expensive. However, the difference in price with SOLO ovens may be minimal, and budget ovens with a grill may cost even less than models from top manufacturers without it. The average price tag for a microwave oven with grill is 7,000 rubles. If you are going to cook in the microwave, then the overpayment is justified in this case.

BBK 23MWG-850T/B-M

One of the most affordable grill ovens. Its cost is comparable to average price ovens without grill. Chamber volume 23 liters. Coating – enamel. Control – electronic (buttons). A special feature of the model is its mirrored front panel, which makes the microwave look more expensive than it costs. There is an LED display. You can use microwaves and grill separately or together. Electricity consumption in combined mode – 1,250 W. The high consumption is compensated by the speed of cooking and heating, so you will not notice a significant increase in energy bills. There are automatic programs for preparing popular dishes, child protection, and the possibility of step-by-step cooking.

  • Price;
  • Compactness;
  • Design;
  • Volume;
  • Power;
  • Grill;
  • Ease of Management;
  • Child protection.
  • Short power cord;
  • It takes time to get used to using automatic programs;
  • Camera coating – enamel;
  • Noisy operation;
  • The buttons are loose;
  • There are no rubber tips on the legs (the stove slides on the surface);
  • The display is located behind a mirrored door, the display on it is difficult to see during operation;
  • It takes a long time to heat up compared to more expensive models.

The above disadvantages can be forgiven considering the cost of the stove. It wasn’t even worth expecting it to have a warm-up speed similar to the Samsung GE83XR, which is twice as expensive. The problem with sliding legs can be solved with double-sided tape or rubber pads/mat. The remaining shortcomings are subjective. This model justifies the cost of 5,600 rubles, so if you want to buy the most budget-friendly oven with grill, I recommend it.

Microwave oven with grill from a well-known manufacturer for only 7,200 rubles. Stylish design, full glass door + steel handle. Chamber volume – 20 liters. Enamel coating. Electronic control - buttons + rotary lever. Automenu, simply enter the type and weight of the product, and the oven will automatically select the optimal operating mode. If you frequently prepare one dish, you can program the parameters and turn on the mode with one button.

pros

  • Low noise level;
  • Compactness;
  • Design;
  • Power;
  • Child lock;
  • Locking operation when the door is open
  • Volume;
  • Short power cord;
  • Inconvenient controls, modes with codes, which are impossible to understand without instructions;
  • The camera coating is enamel.

The volume of Gorenje MMO20DGEII may not be enough for a family of 2-3 people. Therefore, if the microwave is the main device for cooking, then I advise you to pay attention to the BBK 23MWG-850T/B-M or Samsung GE83XR . Samsung GE83XR is a good, but expensive stove. BBK 23MWG-850T/B-M lags behind in the speed of heating and cooking, but in terms of functionality and even design it is similar to the model in question from Samsung, and costs 4,000 rubles less. GE83XR is a case where the brand costs us a lot.

A model with a sophisticated, minimalistic design in black. The door glass is made according to unique technology– when the lighting in the camera is turned on, it becomes completely transparent. It differs from the previous participants in the rating in that it has a chamber with a volume of 25 liters and the absence of a turntable in it, which makes the work much quieter and allows you to cook several dishes at the same time. This is facilitated by Flat Bed technology - the microwave emitter is located at the bottom, and a special distributor rotates on top, distributing microwave rays over the entire area of the chamber. Control – touch + rotary knob. There are 9 preset cooking programs, including popcorn, and 4 defrost programs. There is an option for self-cleaning with steam; just place a glass of water in the chamber, start the cleaning process and, when finished, wipe the chamber with a soft cloth. Current price 12,000 rubles

TOP 4 microwaves SOLO+grill+convection

Such microwave ovens have more complex design. In addition to the grill heater, they also have a built-in heat fan that circulates heated air - a worthy replacement for a classic oven. The cooking process takes less time, and the dishes turn out tastier - they are evenly baked and fried. What else is good about microwaves with grill and convection? Is it worth paying too much for convection, or can you buy a budget option at a price comparable to a good stove without a convector? Let's figure it out.

BBK 23MWC-982S/SB-M

Microwave oven with grill and convection for only 7,300 rubles. Compact, as for a 23-liter microwave with convection (483*281*390). Stylish, the body is made in silver, and the front panel along with the door is completely black glass. Powerful – 900W microwave and 1400W total power. Easy to clean - has steam cleaning and odor removal functions. Electronic control. There are a lot of buttons and programs, but it turns out to be quite simple to operate. There is a quick warm-up with the ability to accurately set the time up to 1 second. Heating occurs several times faster than in a conventional microwave. To adjust the heating power in order to save energy, there are 11 microwave operating modes. Staged preparation is possible. Built-in child lock feature.

BBK 23MWC-982S/SB-M has quite a lot of significant shortcomings, but the price fully compensates for them. The microwave copes with the main function of heating and preparing food. Difficulties can arise when baking, in the case of heavy, poorly kneaded dough. If you're looking for the perfect convection oven with grill, consider the Hotpoint-Ariston MWHA 27343 B, but be prepared to pay double the price.

A large stove for a large family. The volume of this microwave is 28 liters. Dimensions correspond to (517*310*474). The chamber coating is bioceramics. The body style is classic, discreet, the color is white, the door is dark glass. A special feature of the set is 2 stands that allow you to heat and cook several dishes at once. Touch control. There is a “Russian cook” mode with a large number of recipes and a “ Healthy eating” with 15 auto recipes. Among the special functions, the ability to make yogurt should be noted. There is a quick start. You can heat the dish in a large bowl by first turning off the rotation of the tray. At the same time, the operating efficiency will decrease, and more time will be required for heating. Additional features include child lock, mute and ECO mode - turning off the display in standby mode to save energy. To me, given the energy consumption of the stove, the savings on turning off the display seem dubious. Caring for the equipment is easy - there is a steam cleaning function and odor elimination. The current price is 11,000 rubles.

The stove's volume of 28 liters will be sufficient for a large family, a huge selection of automatic programs will allow you to prepare a wide variety of dishes, but with manual control you can make mistakes. Users complain about the complexity of controls, long defrosting and increased cooking time when convection is turned on. In general, the Samsung MC28H5013AW is a stove for advanced users who are ready to work with automatic programs and adapt to them. For those who are used to controlling everything on their own, simpler stoves are suitable, for example BBK 23MWC-982S/SB-M.

Hotpoint-Ariston MWHA 27343 B can easily replace a stove, oven and multicooker in the kitchen. In view of this, I consider the identified shortcomings to be insignificant, because in essence you are buying 3 devices for a price of only 15,000 rubles, placing one device instead of three is much easier, and 3 devices definitely use more electricity. In general, if you are just setting up your kitchen, I recommend buying this universal oven. If you already have an oven or multicooker, then you can choose a cheaper oven with convection, for example BBK 23MWC-982S/SB-M. In general, if you have an oven, I recommend that you decide exactly whether you need convection in the microwave and, if the answer is negative, pay attention to an oven from the same manufacturer without convection - MWHA 2622 MB.

Panasonic NN-CS894B is more than a microwave oven. Combines the functions of a full-fledged oven, microwave and steamer. The working volume is 32 liters. Due to the absence of a turntable, you can place almost any utensils in it. The set includes 3 baking trays, including a glass one, allowing you to cook 3 dishes at the same time + a special stand for steaming. The stove is very economical. Despite the impressive power, about 2 kW, it saves energy by heating exactly the area where food is being prepared + clearly identifies optimal temperature cooking depending on the type and weight of the product. The secret is in the infrared sensor, which regulates the temperature of the cooking dish in real time. A large power adjustment range (40 levels) will also help save energy. There are 48 automatic cooking programs to help the housewife. The oven will also defrost food quickly and economically (inverter defrosting) without damaging its structure. There is steam cleaning and child protection. The controls are touch sensitive and may seem extremely difficult at first. The buttons are located directly on the door, which opens downwards, unlike all other models in the rating. They do not have any inscriptions, they are marked with symbols. A large display helps you figure it all out, where the selected mode and adjustable parameters are displayed in fairly large letters. A recipe book is included. From a design point of view, the stove looks more like an oven. Dimensions 390x490x440 cm. It is impossible to say that it is huge, given the volume of the chamber, but you should find a place in the kitchen for it in advance. Current price 47,500 rubles

Panasonic NN-CS894B is a stove designed specifically for cooking. If you intend to use equipment more often to warm up, then this is not your option. The price seems unreasonably high, because the Samsung MC28H5013AW, which costs four times less in terms of functionality, is practically not inferior, although it has a smaller volume and more modest equipment. I definitely cannot recommend this oven. But the fact that it differs from everyone else in shape and technical content is interesting, so if you can afford to spend almost 50 thousand rubles on a microwave oven, do not deny yourself the pleasure. If your budget is limited, or you don't need such a large oven, take a look at the Hotpoint-Ariston MWHA 27343 B or Samsung MC28H5013AW.
