Children's Orthodox magazine "Svirelka. Church journalism in Soviet times. Leadership of Orthodox periodicals

So, let's take a short excursion into history. Why was March 14th chosen to celebrate the Day of the Orthodox Book? Everything is very simple. It was on this day, in 1564, that the first book, the liturgical "Apostle", was published by deacon Ivan Fedorov. I want to remind you that before the appearance printing press, the books were hefty tomes. They were handwritten using very expensive materials such as parchment, i.e. leather dressed in a special way. These books were true works of art, combining calligraphy, painting and jewelry. Naturally, only the richest people could afford handwritten books. The advent of the printing press has significantly reduced the cost of the process of creating books, and they have now become a more accessible, mass phenomenon. Thus, it is believed that the aforementioned "Apostle" came out with a circulation of about 2,000 copies.

It is safe to say that 1564 was a turning point, as the printed book gave a tremendous impetus to the development of modern culture and science in Russia.

The holiday itself, which we are talking about today, is very young. It was established by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church December 25, 2009. And, like any holiday, it has a function not only of a cultural and educational nature, when we meet with people, mainly young people, and talk about an Orthodox book as a kind of historical phenomenon, about its significance for the development of society and the state. Its other important function is to highlight some of the problems faced by modern education... We can say that the appearance of the "Day of the Orthodox Book" is the reaction of the Church to the general decline in the cultural and, first of all, the spiritual and moral level of man.

According to VTsIOM data for 2014, which we see on the slide presented, in comparison with 2009, the number of people who practically do not read books increased from 27 to 36 percent. I would like to note that in 1992 there were only 20 percent of such people. 43 percent of those surveyed said they don't like reading at all. In another poll conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation, one can see a more alarming trend: it turned out that 58% of Russians cannot name any books at all that would make a strong impression on them. Why it happens? We find the answer to this question in the same statistics. For the modern reader, light, entertaining reading is of the greatest interest - 37%. In second place is fiction- 29%, on the third - literature on the specialty - 21%. In last place, unfortunately, is religious literature - only 5%. What share of these 5 percent is Orthodox literature? open question, there are no such statistics, however, I do not think that it is very large.

Based on these data, it is not surprising that today the question of the need to carry out work to popularize books with spiritual and moral content arises. But it is one thing to make a book popular, and another to arouse the reader's interest in this topic. The latter is the most difficult, since modern world with all its nature, wide propaganda imposes on us the idea that it is good for a person to correspond to a certain fashion, a certain trend. Suffice it to recall the excitement that appears at the release of the next Hollywood film. At this moment, especially among young people, one often hears the question: have you watched? At the same time, it is surprising that the plot of the film itself can be rewritten in just a couple of minutes. I don’t presume to say what this plot is, good or bad, films are different. But we are attracted to a greater extent by the picture, and "cool" special effects in isolation from the real content. There are very few people who, after viewing another picture, will try to find something literary work on which it was filmed. Yet less people able to comprehend what he saw and heard. Probably, this is happening because by the time such a sensible idea can arise in our head, a new wave of fashion is already carrying us headlong. In addition, we are very lazy, because thinking about morality is hard work, and we want something easy that can instantly cheer us up. Unfortunately, everything that I have just said about films is also true for literature.

However, each of us has an idea of the enduring, that is, permanent, values, which include love for our homeland, knowledge of its history and culture. All these are signs of education for us. I think that everyone here will agree with me if I say that being an educated and cultured person is better than being uneducated and uncultured. And it's not a secret for anyone that the development of our state is closely connected with the Church. One cannot escape from this fact or pretend that it simply does not exist. And if I love my country, if I want to be useful to my compatriots in the future, if I care about who my children will become, then I have no right to throw that huge layer of culture accumulated by the joint efforts of the Church and the state into the dustbin of history. from Prince Vladimir, who was baptized more than 1000 years ago, in 988. And in such a situation, the book, as a material carrier of knowledge, should be of great interest to us.

The Orthodox Church has always set and still sets as its main task the spiritual and moral development of the individual, and the state, especially since the era of Peter I, encourages scientific knowledge. Let’s think about what an educated but spiritless and immoral person can become? You don't have to go far for examples, just remember the inhuman experiments that were carried out on prisoners during the Second World War in Nazi concentration camps. So that we, or our descendants, never become those who trampled on everything human, we need now to learn to be People, People with a capital letter. And naturally, in this teaching it is best to turn to the experience of the Church, which has been going on for more than 2,000 years.

Today, on the shelves of our bookstores, or in Internet libraries, you can find entire sections called "Orthodox literature". And what is not attributed to it: calendars indicating the days of remembrance of saints, prayer books, culinary books, lives, teachings, answers to everyday life questions from Orthodox priests, stories, historical and theological works, etc. However, few have any idea what exactly is called an Orthodox book and by what criterion can one judge its Orthodoxy?

Indeed, according to the generally accepted opinion, an Orthodox book can be called one in which there will be no contradictions with the teachings of the Church and its dogmas. Also, it will most likely talk about something that is to one degree or another connected with Orthodox traditions and faith.

But is it possible to find a book that is both Orthodox and does not explicitly mention Orthodoxy? The answer to this question is more interesting, but at the same time difficult, since it “does not lie on the surface”. It is difficult because here we face such problems as assessing the personality of the author and the reader himself. Who are they? Atheists of the present or of the past? Liberals who consider it possible to revise the doctrine of the Church for the sake of new discoveries of natural science? Maybe sectarians? Or, what is even more frightening, are people near the Church, those who often confuse the Orthodox faith and popular superstitions?

It should be understood that the division that exists now, into secular and spiritual literature, is actually conditional, since there is a deep connection between them. Suffice it to recall the works of our classics, such asG.R.Derzhavin, A.S. Pushkin, F.M.Dostoevsky, N.V. Gogol, A.I. Kuprin or K.G. Paustovsky, etc. In the works of these writers, the themes of love, humanism, the meaning of life, a person's place in the world, the constant struggle between good and evil and the choice between them are constantly raised. All these are Christian themes that were present earlier, in ancient Russian literature. And the main goal of the latter was just the education of our ancestors, former pagans and idolaters, through the assimilation of Christian truths, through familiarization with the vast spiritual heritage of the Byzantine Empire and, naturally, through faith in God. The result of this upbringing is a huge country with the richest culture that managed to save itself in very difficult times and emerged from them as a winner. This is what our Orthodox literature is. However, it should be understood that her heart and primary source is the Gospel and no other works can replace Him.

So, if you decide to turn to reading serious literature, which book is better to take to get started? Of course, it is difficult here to please everyone's tastes at the same time. Moreover, on the Internet, if you set such a goal, you can find a huge list of works, of which at least one is right for you. And yet, to begin with, I would suggest that you read the book of the modern author, archimandrite of the Russian Orthodox Church, Father Tikhon (Shevkunov), "Unholy Saints." The book includes short stories from the life of the author. Many of them are associated with, where the author began his monastic life. As Archimandrite Tikhon himself said: “Almost all the stories that were included in the book, I told at sermons. All of this is part of our church life. Preaching ... after all, it is built on the comprehension of Holy Scripture, on the interpretation of church eventsholy fathers and examples from life. "

Another work, general Christian, and by its name should be familiar to all of you, this is "The Chronicles of Narnia",cycle out of seven children's fantasy books (fairy tales ) written ... They tell about the adventures of children in a magical land calledNarnia where animals can talk, magic surprises no one, butgood struggles with evil ... The Chronicles of Narnia reveals the meaning of a large numberchristian ideas in a form accessible to readers.

If you want to get acquainted with the modern Orthodox periodicals, then your attention should be focused on two wonderful magazines. The first is called "Thomas", whichpositions itself as "an Orthodox magazine for the doubters." In the title of the magazine - the nameapostle thomas , denoting a distrustful listener (due to the apostle's initial disbelief inresurrection of jesus christ ). Main topic: a story about Christianity and its role in the cultural and public life... "Thomas" is addressed to all interested readers, regardless of their religion, attitude to faith and political views.

STATISTICS According to VTsIOM data for 2014, in comparison with 2009, the number of people who practically do not read books increased from 27 to 36 percent.

AGIOTAGE- Artificially induced excitement, excitement in order to attract attention to something. ( Explanatory dictionary Ozhigova)

"Remember that the earthly Fatherland with its Church is the threshold of the heavenly Fatherland, therefore love it ardently and be ready to lay down your soul for it." (right. John of Kronstadt)

In the destinies of the present and in the destinies of the future Orthodox Christianity - this is the whole idea of the Russian people, in that is its service to Christ and the thirst for deeds for Christ. This thirst is true, great and has not ceased in our people since ancient times, unceasing, perhaps never, - and this is an extremely important fact in the characterization of our people and our state. (F.M.Dostoevsky)

One of the main instruments of dialogue among young people, the intelligentsia, and the clergy in the context of Orthodox culture is literature, the word. It is worth paying attention to periodicals with a bias towards Orthodox ethics, aimed at young people. Today there are a sufficient number of such publications. This article contains brief essays on several periodicals, which can be united under the title "Orthodox journals". Information from this kind of publications can be recommended for familiarization in educational institutions as an elective or used, synthesizing with the material of a number of humanitarian disciplines.

Several Orthodox magazines were selected for this review: Grape, Hereditary, Neskuchny Sad, Thomas, Russkiy Dom, Tatianin Den, Slavyanka, Orthodox Book Review. Copies of these publications are available in many parish libraries for easy access. The publications have their own Internet portals, so you can get acquainted with their materials online.

It is worth starting the review with the magazines "Grapes" and "Naslednik", since from the list of the above-named editions, these two main theme is the problem of children, youth, family and upbringing. And, as you know, the family is the first step in the formation of the young generation.

"Grape" It is noteworthy that on the pages of this magazine considerable attention is paid to the problems of adolescent upbringing and the solution of these problems in an Orthodox way with an appeal to traditional spirituality and the cultural experience of previous eras. Thus, a dialogue between modernity and tradition is carried out on the pages of the publication. The magazine places great emphasis on the problem of motherhood and male upbringing.

Orthodox youth magazine "Heir" addressed to a young audience. On the pages of this publication you can find many interesting articles, reports, essays, interviews, which are interesting primarily for young people in their content.

It is also worth mentioning separately about the version of the magazine on the Internet. The rich content and user-friendly interface are very attractive from the point of view of the average Internet user.

"Grapes" and "Heir" are great both for individual acquaintance and as additional literature to help school teachers and teachers of secondary vocational educational institutions, i.e. people directly dealing with the problems of children and adolescents.

"Boring Garden" positioned as a magazine about Orthodox life; very informative and voluminous. On the pages of the magazine one can get acquainted with the traditions of Orthodoxy, with Orthodoxy in the context of history and modernity, great attention is paid to the issues of correlating science and faith, faith and modern culture, religion and politics, dialogue between Church and society, dialogue of Orthodoxy with other world cultural traditions.

Magazine "Thomas" can be characterized as a cultural, educational, analytical, religious publication. Positions itself as an "Orthodox magazine for the doubters", which initially speaks of the democratic nature of the publication. The journal actively analyzes modern social and cultural processes.

"Russian house" - a magazine, from the name of which the patriotic orientation of this publication is immediately clear. A lot of interesting material is presented on the pages of the "Russia House": problems are discussed, answers are sought to many questions related to the position of Russia in the world, the problems of Russian culture, the current state of the Orthodox faith; interesting facts from the history of our country, the diversity of Orthodox traditions and canons is revealed.

The three above-mentioned publications are designed for a heterogeneous, but, above all, thinking audience. These journals can be recommended as additional literature or as material for optional classes for high school students, as well as students of humanitarian colleges and universities.

Internet edition "Tatyana's Day" very informative and remarkably interesting news portal, has a characteristic bias in the history of Orthodox culture. Here you can get acquainted with a very diverse material, elements of Orthodox ethics in the context of the historical, cultural and social process.

This Orthodox Internet portal can be very useful from a religious point of view. The information on this Internet publication can be used as additional material when working with disciplines such as philosophy, theology, religious studies, social studies, history and a number of other humanitarian academic disciplines of universities.

Orthodox women's magazine "Slav" differs from all of the above publications in that it is addressed directly to the beautiful half of humanity. As in all similar publications, "Slavyanka" touches upon the issues of women's beauty and health, family hearth, raising children. The pages are full of reviews, interesting articles, interviews, the photographic material is very well chosen. What distinguishes this publication from other women's magazines is that Slavyanka addresses its readers through the prism of Orthodox traditions, the primordially Russian vision of the image of a woman.

The Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church publishes a magazine "Orthodox Book Review". The magazine tells about all the most important events in church publishing and book distribution: official events, exhibitions, meetings, presentations, new book releases. The Orthodox Book Review publishes reviews, annotations, reviews, interviews, articles about the book culture of different times, and many others.

In conclusion of the review, it is worth recalling that Orthodoxy is not just a form of religion, Orthodoxy is a whole cultural and ethical position, the soil of the Russian attitude, the foundation of the people and the country; The Russian language has the character of a unifying language that binds together a great colorful nation, it is a language with the help of which the continuity of cultural values and traditions is carried out by generations.

It is important to increase interest in Russian culture and Orthodox traditions. The future moral image of our people and country depends on the information field in which the worldview of the younger generation is formed.

For 20 years the library has been working in the direction of "Revival and preservation of national and spiritual traditions of the Russian people." about the history of our Motherland, the history of the church, Orthodox holidays

about the project

"Peter and Fevronia. Day of Family, Love and Fidelity" - we were filmed by Orenburg television

Dear Supporters! In our difficult times, the spiritual education of the younger generation acquires extraordinary importance. And this is not accidental, because moral development in a person is associated with his spiritual development. A well-mannered person and a person who reads books will never go astray, will not become a drug addict, alcoholic, etc.

The holiday "Day of Family, Love and Fidelity" was held again in the registry office of the village of P-Pokrovka. They honored the heroes of the day - those who lived in love and harmony for 35, 40 years.

And that is why the library is often called the temple of the book, and the word temple itself is associated in the mind of a person with a spiritual temple, therefore, spiritual enlightenment is the leading place in the library. Our library has extensive experience in this noble cause. Spiritual and moral education consists of many moments, this is the education of patriotism "Forever in the memory of the people!"

And citizenship, instilling family values, fostering love for your small homeland, your land, preventing bad habits, fostering a desire for healthy way life. my motherland Working on the project "My Russia, Orthodox" we have achieved considerable results.

Studying history and cultural heritage our region, we introduce readers to famous poets and writers. Live communication gives a good result. After all, the formation of a civic sense of personality begins with small things: respectful attitude to the village, city, village where you live; respect for the family; involvement in what is happening around ... So that our children do not grow up "Ivans who do not remember kinship ...".

Thanks in advance if you find it necessary to help us! To instill in readers spiritual and moral values, to pour goodness into their souls is the goal of all our work.

1. About our edition

Orthodox magazine for children "My joy".

The first issue of the magazine was conceived as a gift for the children of Donbass for the Bright Holiday Christ's Resurrection in 2003. The editorial board decided to ask the young readers themselves what they would like the magazine to be called. A competition was announced among Sunday schools for best name children's Orthodox magazine. From all the variety of variants of names, we singled out the proposal of Bogdana Vorobyova - the greeting of the Monk Seraphim of Sarov - "My joy, Christ is Risen!" It seemed to us that the words from the address of the monk were the most suitable for our idea of the magazine. The magazine aroused genuine interest among readers and our Vladyka Hilarion gave his blessing to publish it on a monthly basis. Last year "My Joy" celebrated its 5th anniversary. On this moment 80 fascinating and colorful numbers saw the light of day.

2. Why are we doing this?

"My Joy" is an informative and at the same time soulful magazine. With the help of the magazine, we strive to create a counterbalance to the consumer worldview and modern trends penetration of Western culture. We are trying to show the younger generation Orthodox landmarks, i.e. landmarks of our culture.

3. Who do we do it for

Initially, the magazine was created for students of Sunday schools. To some extent, this limited the magazine: in informational terms - at the regional level, in terms of presentation of material - by the level of knowledge of Sunday school pupils. Subsequently, it was decided to expand the readership. We tried to create a magazine that would be interesting to read not only to church children. We opened new headings, found accessible forms of narration and presentation of material, as well as our own style of design.

Today, the journal has a fairly extensive heading list, which allows comprehensively developing and satisfying the spiritual interests of the young reader.

If we talk about the age category, then these are children from 10 to 15 years old.

3. What do we consider the most important in our work?

"My Joy" is an Orthodox edition, and, of course, its concept includes the basic commandments of Orthodoxy: faith, love for God, love for one's neighbor.

Several vectors of communication with a young reader can be distinguished in the magazine. One of them is aimed at the personality of the reader himself: through the heroes of the journal, age-related (psychological) problems are raised and ways of solving them are proposed.

Another vector can be designated as historical. Here the reader will find out and world history, and history native land, and the history of the Orthodox faith.

The educational vector acquaints the reader with the basics of Orthodoxy, Holy Scripture, with the life of saints and ascetics of faith.

One can also single out the vector of leisure, which is served through the aesthetics of the poetic and artistic headings "Ringing Pipes" and "Vernissage", as well as "Our Quiz" and "Making with our own hands", which were loved from the first issues.

4. Which side of our publication do we consider strong and why?

It is not in the spirit of Orthodoxy to praise oneself. The strongest side of any media project is its relevance: when there is a constant audience that watches, listens, reads, gives feedback, lives with us.

Many letters come to our editorial office. We are happy to read them out loud. Someone just writes to us about themselves, someone sends their poems and drawings. We admit that these are the most exciting and joyful moments of our work. And we are grateful to everyone who reads and writes to us for their participation and love.

We consider our team to be our inner achievement. The creative team of the editorial office is working on the creation of the magazine: the editorial board, issuing editors, proofreaders, a designer, an artist.

It is especially pleasant that we have formed our own team of authors who are constantly writing for the magazine. These are students and graduates of the department of spiritual culture at the Faculty of Additional Professions of Donetsk National University, correspondents (employees) of the press service of the Branch of the Donetsk Metallurgical Complex, on the technical basis of which the magazine is published.

As part of an agreement with the parish of the All Saints Church, the staff of the Sunday School in Kirovo-Chepetsk have formed a thematic collection of literature “Orthodox Family” for the libraries of the MUK “Kirovo-Chepetskaya RCBS”.

Taking into account the Orthodox competence of the specialists of the Messioneer Education Department, their involvement has become important for speaking at educational library seminars.

The involvement of representatives of the All Saints Church in the city of Kirovo-Chepetsk made it possible to conduct Orthodox local lore education among the population in the libraries of the Kirovo-Chepetsk region not declared in the project.

They were attended by the librarian of the Prosnitsa branch library E.L. Kochurov. According to her, she was prompted to participate in these courses by her speech at the regional seminar N.V. Demidova.

The innovation and methodological department of the Central Regional Hospital has developed a methodology for conducting a lesson "The beauty of old Vyatka" with elements of heuristic activity for a series of events for children under the general name "School where they teach to be kind."

Thanks to publishing products, libraries help readers navigate this information flow:

Books were presented to the attention of the audience about the distinctive role of women in an Orthodox family, about the power of a mother's prayer, about nuns, about the wives of Orthodox priests. In with. Kstinino is a temple, so here we can talk about a fairly stable interest in this topic on the part of parishioners.
  • In the Filippov Library - "Outpost: About Faith and Love in Orthodox Literature." Since the event was attended not only by adults, but also by teenagers, books were presented that may interest young people: Voznesenskaya Yu. "My posthumous adventures", Starikova E. "What parents do not know", Kozlov M. "Children's catechism", Zorin K. "What they hide from the young." Demidova "Staraya Vyatka", then they were given coloring pages for this book and offered to illustrate it using their favorite colors. The children were shown the cartoon "Basil the Blessed".
  • The event "On the threshold of the temple" in the Klyuchevskoy library became very relevant and timely, according to the readers' reviews. There is no church in the village of Klyuchi, but thanks to the active position of rural librarians V.M. Ulanova, I.A.Gorkovchuk, the population of the village annually goes on excursions to the Orthodox churches of the region. Among the readers of the Klyuchevskoy Library, there is a great demand for Orthodox literature. After the event, a queue was created for the book "Temple Behavior". Books by Yu. Voznesenskaya “Juliana. Either dangerous games "," Juliana, or the kidnapping game "were taken by parents for their teenage children. The books of A.I. Osipov aroused great interest. "Love, marriage, family: a conversation with adults", "Raising a child in Russian traditions." The event was attended by the head teacher of the Klyuchevskoy school, who proposed to draw up a schedule of such video lectures for students at academic year(2011-2012).
  • In the Polomsk library-district museum of the family, a lesson "The most important holiday of the year - Easter" was held for readers. After the event, readers came up, thanked for the books, for the film shown. Head kindergarten with. Paul, who was present at the event, invited her to her team with a similar event in September. The most amazing thing was the confession of one of the readers who had never gone to church, there was no such need in him, according to him: "We must go to church!", "We must take the Bible and read it!" (There is no temple in the village of Polom.)
  • The Karin library hosted a meeting with readers dedicated to the theme of family in Orthodoxy "My fortress: family in Orthodox literature." The meeting was attended not only by adults, but also by young people. The books by N. Sukhinina "The White Crow" and "The Practical Encyclopedia of Orthodox Christians" aroused great interest among adults. Young people were interested in books by E. Avdeenko "How to get married correctly", Torik A. "Dimon", "Once again about love", Voznesenskaya "Lancelot's Pilgrimage", and "The Way of Cassandra". The conversation covered issues the right choice the future spouse, the roles of men and women in the family (past and present), in the upbringing of children.

Within the framework of the project "To the origins of morality through an Orthodox book", the readers were shown the prize-winning films of the International Orthodox festival "Vstrecha": "Outpost", "How people live", "Crystal boy", film for children "About St. Basil the Blessed", "Smart granddaughter"

Work in this direction was carried out not only in the libraries declared in the project. Rural librarians asked to speak at libraries not listed in the project. Thus, evenings of sacred music, hours of Orthodoxy, meetings with the priests of the churches of the All Saints Deanery took place in the libraries.

In total, 1,028 people took part in various Orthodox events organized and conducted by the district libraries and the staff of the All Saints Church in Kirovo-Chepetsk. Orthodox films and literature aroused great interest among the residents of the Kirovo-Chepetsk region. Considering the peculiarity of Orthodox literature - the desire to re-read, analyze, compare - the residents were also very happy that Orthodox literature remains in rural libraries. After each performance, people came up, thanked, asked to come again.

From teachers of kindergartens and schools of the district, proposals were received to leave with similar classes in pedagogical collectives, on cool watch to students.

The teachers of the city of Kirovo-Chepetsk became interested in the Orthodox events for children “School where they teach to be kind”. So for the sports school for children and youth of the Olympic reserve, for the city club "Chaika", events were held that were highly appreciated by teachers and children. The peculiarity of this audience is that many of these children are included in the so-called. "Special attention group". These are children from large families, from families caused by pedagogical neglect, inattention to their upbringing.

The project "Towards the Origins of Morality through an Orthodox Book" showed that readers are interested not only in fictional Orthodox literature. They are interested in information of a practical nature: how to pray correctly, receive communion, light candles, and much more. Now readers of the six libraries declared in the project can find on the shelves the books "How to Pray Correctly?" ... 200 children's questions and non-childish answers about faith, church and Christian life "," 1380 the most useful tips priests to their parishioners "," First steps in Orthodox church"," Practical Encyclopedia of Orthodox Christians, "etc. Many readers admit that they do not attend church or do it not as often as they would like because they are not sure of the correctness of their behavior in the church. Such literature will help many to acquire the necessary knowledge, instill confidence that their behavior in the temple will be correct. Among the purchased literature, there are many books that can be used by librarians and teachers to conduct various conversations, both with children and with parents.

So, for children of primary school age of the Prosnitsa Children's Library, a lesson "The Wisdom of a Russian Fairy Tale" was held. After answering the questions of the fairy tale quiz, the children painted fragments of various folk tales. For the lesson, a Whatman sheet was prepared, on which the name of the event was placed. Beams radiated from him in different directions. Each ray was signed: "kindness", "mutual assistance", "love", "beauty", "ridicules stupidity", "care of the elders over the younger", etc. When talking with children, they placed the colored leaves next to specific rays. The result was the conclusion that in a huge number of Russians folk tales there are all the above categories. And all these categories are concentrated in the Russian folk tale.

In rural libraries, kindergartens and schools were held:

  • Educational and creative hour "Easter souvenir", at which children, under the guidance of a librarian, made Easter baskets (Kstina Library),
  • "The brightest holiday" (Fateevskaya library-museum) - various crafts were presented at the exhibition of children's creative works, children watched the presentation about Easter with pleasure.

The event dedicated to the 66th anniversary of Victory in the Veteran clubs aroused great interest. The event was based on stories from the collection Miracles on the Roads of War. Collection "Miracles on the roads of war" - short stories about the miraculous manifestations of the power of God. Such stories are based on specific facts, witnessed by eyewitnesses in the handwritten memoirs of war veterans and their relatives, in oral stories recorded by the compilers of the collection, as well as testimonies from other sources. Miracles of God took place on the fronts and roads of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

“Acquaintance with facts of this kind,” notes Archimandrite Veniamin (Milov), “has a deep religious and educational significance. He consoles the reader with the faith of the common, infuses into his soul a whole stream of new holy experiences and truly sanctifies living water verbal blessed energy ”.

Readers expressed their opinion on the books and gave examples from their own lives and cases from the lives of other people. We wished to hold such events more often and to invite clergymen to them. For the bright holiday of Easter, the "Veteran" club hosted the "Holiday of Spring and Kindness" class

Project results

The project "Towards the Origins of Morality through an Orthodox Book" was successful.

The goal of the project - Orthodox education of the residents of the Kirovo-Chepetsk region - has been achieved.

All the tasks have been solved: the problem of accessibility of Orthodox literature to the readers of the region, informing the population on the issues of Orthodoxy. A public response was created and a large number of readers in the villages of the region were attracted to this project.

The project "Towards the Origins of Morality through the Orthodox Book" mobilized the work of the Central Regional Hospital in this direction and made it possible to launch a mechanism for the timely response of the library resources to changes. (Creation of thematic collections of Orthodox literature, publication of Orthodox publications, development of methods for holding events for children).

Concrete results have been obtained that make it possible to speak of the relevance of the project "Towards the origins of morality through an Orthodox book": 7 lectures were held for 258 people. In addition, using the equipment purchased within the framework of the project, an additional 8 Orthodox events for children (158 people) were held. 289 copies were purchased for libraries. books, 33 Orthodox films. Received as a gift from Orthodox missionaries and the Orthodox library "Blagovest" in Kirov, 47 books and 40 brochures. Kstinin library, priest Fr. John of the Holy Trinity Church with. Kstinino signed up for the children's Orthodox magazine "Candle". Close cooperation has been established with the missionaries of the All Saints Church in Kirovo-Chepetsk, with the Orthodox publishing house "Satis", with the library of the Sunday School of the All Saints Church, and continued cooperation with the staff of the Messioneer Education Department. Within the framework of the project, consultations were constantly held for rural librarians. Positive responses, exhibitions, seminars, events - all this allows us to conclude about the effectiveness of the project "Towards the origins of morality through the Orthodox book", its stability and prospects.

The demand for such meetings among the population of the district turned out to be very high. The project has shown a growing interest in Orthodox literature not only among the elderly population, but also among people aged 30-45, adolescents. People share their impressions of books and films with each other, with librarians. Everyone has problems raised by Orthodox literature. This is raising children, family relationships, problems of mutual understanding in society. And such video lectures can help in finding ways to solve these problems.

A form such as a video lecture helps to promote the best examples of Orthodox literature into the reading environment. The showing of Orthodox films and a conversation about Orthodox books have significantly increased the distribution of Orthodox literature. One of the working moments in the implementation of the project, which became unexpected for us, is the intensification of interest in a similar topic in those settlements, where there is no temple (Klyuchi village, Filippovo village, Polom village, Chuvashi village, Markovtsy village). The number of wishes for new meetings, requests for Orthodox literature in these settlements were very high. The project "Towards the origins of morality through an Orthodox book" showed that the Orthodox reader of the Kirovo-Chepetsk region needs its own library fund, and for its functioning, it is necessary to develop a methodology for the work of rural libraries on Orthodox education. And one of the logical links of this was the creation of a model of the fund of the Orthodox department in the libraries of the region during the implementation of the next project - the network of "Educational Departments of Orthodox Culture".
